idolatry, sorcery, ¹  hostilities, ²  strife, ³  jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, ⁴  factions,

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their fury, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel! ¹ 

That is why the Lord’s anger erupted against this land, bringing on it all the curses ¹  written in this scroll.

The Lord’s anger again raged against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go count Israel and Judah.” ¹ 

A well-written song ²  by Asaph. Why, O God, have you permanently rejected us? ³  Why does your anger burn ⁴  against the sheep of your pasture?

At that time ¹  you will say: “I praise you, O Lord, for even though you were angry with me, your anger subsided, and you consoled me.

Look, the Lord’s day of judgment ¹  is coming; it is a day of cruelty and savage, raging anger, ²  destroying ³  the earth ⁴  and annihilating its sinners.

I trampled nations in my anger, I made them drunk ¹  in my rage, I splashed their blood on the ground.” ² 

For look, the Lord comes with fire, his chariots come like a windstorm, ¹  to reveal his raging anger, his battle cry, and his flaming arrows. ² 

So put on sackcloth! Mourn and wail, saying, ‘The fierce anger of the Lord has not turned away from us!’” ¹ 

I looked and saw that the fruitful land had become a desert and that all of the cities had been laid in ruins. The Lord had brought this all about because of his blazing anger. ¹ 

before God’s decree becomes reality ¹  and the day of opportunity disappears like windblown chaff, ²  before the Lord’s raging anger ³  overtakes ⁴  you – before the day of the Lord’s angry judgment overtakes you!

Will you stay mad at us forever? Will you remain angry throughout future generations? ¹ 

They made the Lord angry ¹  by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.

The one who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the one who has a quick temper ¹  exalts ²  folly.

A quick-tempered person ¹  stirs up dissension, but one who is slow to anger ²  calms ³  a quarrel. ⁴ 

Be angry and do not sin; ¹  do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger. ² 

So the Lord has uprooted them from their land in anger, wrath, and great rage and has deported them to another land, as is clear today.”

You who tear yourself ¹  to pieces in your anger, will the earth be abandoned ²  for your sake? Or will a rock be moved from its place? ³ 

“How often ¹  is the lamp of the wicked extinguished? How often does their ²  misfortune come upon them? How often does God apportion pain ³  to them ⁴  in his anger?
