Instead you must worship the Lord your God; then he will rescue you from the power of all your enemies.”

This is what the king says: ‘Don’t let Hezekiah mislead you, for he is not able to rescue you from my hand! ¹ 

Who among all the gods of the lands has rescued their lands from my power? So how can the Lord rescue Jerusalem from my power?’” ¹

The Lord says, ¹  “Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him ²  because he is loyal to me. ³ 

Reach down ¹  from above! Grab me and rescue me from the surging water, ²  from the power of foreigners, ³ 

Grab me and rescue me from the power of foreigners, ¹  who speak lies, and make false promises. ² 

Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign Lord, they could not save their own son or daughter; they would save only their own lives by their righteousness.

His children are far ¹  from safety, and they are crushed ²  at the place where judgment is rendered, ³  nor is there anyone to deliver them. ⁴ 

Otherwise they will rip ¹  me ²  to shreds like a lion; they will tear me to bits and no one will be able to rescue me. ³ 

A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; ¹  despite its great strength, it cannot deliver.

Deliver yourself like a gazelle from a snare, ¹  and like a bird from the trap ²  of the fowler.

The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, ¹  but the faithless will be captured ²  by their own desires. ³ 

The words of the wicked lie in wait ¹  to shed innocent blood, ²  but the words ³  of the upright will deliver them.

Deliver those being taken away to death, and hold back those slipping to the slaughter. ¹ 

So Israel made a vow ¹  to the Lord and said, “If you will indeed deliver ²  this people into our ³  hand, then we will utterly destroy ⁴  their cities.”
