Therefore, announce: ¹  ‘I am going to give ²  to him my covenant of peace. ³ 

Phinehas took a stand and intervened, ¹  and the plague subsided.

I ¹  will greatly rejoice ²  in the Lord; I will be overjoyed because of my God. ³  For he clothes me in garments of deliverance; he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. ⁴  I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would; I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry. ⁵ 

and wrap the sashes around Aaron and his sons ¹  and put headbands on them, and so the ministry of priesthood will belong to them by a perpetual ordinance. Thus you are to consecrate ²  Aaron and his sons.

He ¹  must bring the rest of the bull outside the camp ²  and burn it just as he burned the first bull – it is the sin offering of the assembly.

This is the allotment of Aaron and the allotment of his sons from the Lord’s gifts on the day Moses ¹  presented them to serve as priests ²  to the Lord.

If, however, ¹  it is among the unclean animals, he may ransom it according to ²  its conversion value and must add one fifth to it, but if it is not redeemed it must be sold according to its conversion value.

So you are to appoint Aaron and his sons, and they will be responsible for their priesthood; ¹  but the unauthorized person ²  who comes near must be put to death.”

The Levites even left their pasturelands and their property behind and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons prohibited them from serving as the Lord’s priests.

King Joash disregarded ¹  the loyalty his father Jehoiada had shown him and killed Jehoiada’s ²  son. As Zechariah ³  was dying, he said, “May the Lord take notice and seek vengeance!” ⁴ 

Furthermore, be aware of the fact ¹  that you have no authority to impose tax, tribute, or toll on any of the priests, the Levites, the musicians, the doorkeepers, the temple servants, or the attendants at the temple of this God.

“You are to anoint Aaron and his sons and ¹  sanctify them, so that they may minister as my priests.

The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted ¹  for the ephod and the breastpiece,

They attached the two gold chains to the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece;

“He will then make one of the turtledoves ¹  or young pigeons, which are within his means, ² 

Anyone who enters ¹  the house all the days the priest ²  has quarantined it will be unclean until evening.

Then he ¹  is to take two birds, a piece of cedar wood, a scrap of crimson fabric, and some twigs of hyssop ²  to decontaminate ³  the house,

He must not profane his children among his people, ¹  for I am the Lord who sanctifies him.’”

If, however, the person who made the vow redeems the animal, ¹  he must add one fifth to ²  its conversion value.

Now Samuel was ministering before the Lord. The boy was dressed in a linen ephod.
