for it is written, “You shall be holy, because I am holy.” ¹ 

and execute the judgment to which their enemies ¹  have been sentenced. ²  All his loyal followers will be vindicated. ³  Praise the Lord!

Jesus said to him, “Once again it is written: ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” ¹ 

Jesus ¹  answered them, “You are deceived, ²  because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.

Now as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, ¹ 

Have you not read this scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. ¹ 

Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man ¹  does not live by bread alone.’” ² 

Jesus ¹  answered him, ²  “It is said, ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” ³ 

His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal ¹  for your house will devour me.” ² 

If those people to whom the word of God came were called ‘gods’ (and the scripture cannot be broken), ¹ 

After this Jesus, realizing that by this time ¹  everything was completed, ²  said (in order to fulfill the scripture), ³  “I am thirsty!” ⁴ 

For these things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled, “Not a bone of his will be broken.” ¹ 

for he refuted the Jews vigorously ¹  in public debate, ²  demonstrating from the scriptures that the Christ ³  was Jesus. ⁴ 

For just as it is written, “the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” ¹ 

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ¹ 

and that he was buried, and that he was raised ¹  on the third day according to the scriptures,

But until this very day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their minds, ¹ 

Just as it is written, “He ¹  has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.” ² 

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the ¹  slave woman and the other by the free woman.
