Your ancestors ¹  ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

Let the desert and dry region be happy; ¹  let the wilderness ²  rejoice and bloom like a lily!

and your children will wander ¹  in the wilderness forty years and suffer for your unfaithfulness, ²  until your dead bodies lie finished ³  in the wilderness.

They traveled from Pi-hahiroth, ¹  and passed through the middle of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and camped in Marah.

The entire company ¹  of Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron in the desert.

They traveled from the desert of Sinai and camped at Kibroth Hattaavah.

He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and insulted him ¹  in the desert!

Yet he brought out his people like sheep; he led them through the wilderness like a flock.

He says, ¹  “Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, ²  like they were that day at Massah ³  in the wilderness, ⁴ 

You did not bring me ¹  sacrifices and grain offerings during the forty years you spent in the wilderness, family ²  of Israel.

“Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness.

After they journeyed ¹  from Rephidim, they came to the Desert of Sinai, and they camped in the desert; Israel camped there in front of the mountain. ²
