Look, I will escape to a distant place; I will stay in the wilderness. (Selah)

They wandered through the wilderness on a desert road; they found no city in which to live.

who, moreover, do no wrong, but follow in his footsteps. ¹ 

You reprimand arrogant people. Those who stray from your commands are doomed. ¹ 

whose paths ¹  are morally crooked, ²  and who are devious ³  in their ways;

Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways – do not wander into her pathways;

For ¹  a period of about forty years he put up with ²  them in the wilderness. ³ 

Like a frightened gazelle ¹  or a sheep with no shepherd, each will turn toward home, ²  each will run to his homeland.

What do you think? If someone ¹  owns a hundred ²  sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go look for the one that went astray? ³ 

And besides that, going around ¹  from house to house they learn to be lazy, ²  and they are not only lazy, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things they should not. ³ 

So Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and lived in the land of Nod, ¹  east of Eden.
