In your distress you called out and I rescued you. I answered you from a dark thundercloud. ¹  I tested you at the waters of Meribah. ²  (Selah)

But the army said to Saul, “Should Jonathan, who won this great victory in Israel, die? May it never be! As surely as the Lord lives, not a single hair of his head will fall to the ground! For it is with the help of God that he has acted today.” So the army rescued Jonathan from death. ¹ 

In you our ancestors ¹  trusted; they trusted in you ²  and you rescued them.

as well as the persecutions and sufferings ¹  that happened to me in Antioch, ²  in Iconium, and in Lystra. ³  I endured these persecutions and the Lord delivered me from them all.

I refused to respond to Balaam; he kept ¹  prophesying good things about ²  you, and I rescued you from his power. ³ 

The Israelites did not remain true ¹  to the Lord their God, who had delivered them from all the enemies who lived around them.

He delivers me ¹  from my enemies; you snatch me away ²  from those who attack me; ³  you rescue me from violent men.

He rescues and delivers and performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power ¹  of the lions!”

He ¹  delivered us from so great a risk of death, and he will deliver us. We have set our hope on him ²  that ³  he will deliver us yet again,

Indeed,” says the Lord, “captives will be taken from a warrior; spoils will be rescued from a conqueror. I will oppose your adversary and I will rescue your children.

The king swore an oath: “As certainly as the Lord lives (he who has rescued me ¹  from every danger),

that the evil man is spared from the day of his misfortune, that he is delivered ¹  from the day of God’s wrath?

for I rescued the poor who cried out for help, and the orphan who ¹  had no one to assist him;

Rescue me from the mouth of the lion, ¹  and from the horns of the wild oxen! ²  You have answered me! ³

He delivered them from the power ¹  of the one who hated them, and rescued ²  them from the power ³  of the enemy.

He sent them an assuring word ¹  and healed them; he rescued them from the pits where they were trapped. ² 

and when he had been abandoned, ¹  Pharaoh’s daughter adopted ²  him and brought him up ³  as her own son.

Twist and strain, ¹  Daughter Zion, as if you were in labor! For you will leave the city and live in the open field. You will go to Babylon, but there you will be rescued. There the Lord will deliver ²  you from the power ³  of your enemies.

Jethro said, “Blessed ¹  be the Lord who has delivered you from the hand of Egypt, and from the hand of Pharaoh, who has delivered the people from the Egyptians’ control! ²
