To them belong the patriarchs, ¹  and from them, ²  by human descent, ³  came the Christ, ⁴  who is God over all, blessed forever! ⁵  Amen.

The Lord watches ¹  from heaven; he sees all people. ² 

I rashly declared, ¹  “All men are liars.”

rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, ¹  and delighting ²  in its people. ³ 

This persuasion ¹  does not come from the one who calls you!

Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus. He was the highest-ranking ¹  Jew, and he was admired by his numerous relatives. ²  He worked enthusiastically ³  for the good of his people and was an advocate for the welfare of ⁴  all his descendants. ⁵ 

He said to them, “You know that ¹  it is unlawful ²  for a Jew ³  to associate with or visit a Gentile, ⁴  yet God has shown me that I should call no person ⁵  defiled or ritually unclean. ⁶ 

From one man ¹  he made every nation of the human race ²  to inhabit the entire earth, ³  determining their set times ⁴  and the fixed limits of the places where they would live, ⁵ 

But I do not consider my life ¹  worth anything ²  to myself, so that ³  I may finish my task ⁴  and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news ⁵  of God’s grace.

by holding on to ¹  the word of life so that on the day of Christ I will have a reason to boast that I did not run in vain nor labor in vain.

He created them male and female; when they were created, he blessed them and named them “humankind.” ¹ 

When humankind ¹  began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born ²  to them, ³ 

The Lord regretted ¹  that he had made humankind on the earth, and he was highly offended. ² 

in whose hand ¹  is the life ²  of every creature and the breath of all the human race. ³ 

“Were you the first man ever born? Were you brought forth before the hills?

Your wickedness affects only ¹  a person like yourself, and your righteousness only other people. ² 

Of what importance is the human race, ¹  that you should notice ²  them? Of what importance is mankind, ³  that you should pay attention to them, ⁴ 

You destroy their offspring ¹  from the earth, their descendants ²  from among the human race. ³ 

O Lord, of what importance is the human race, ¹  that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, ²  that you should be concerned about them? ³ 

Men bow down to them in homage, they lie flat on the ground in worship. ¹  Don’t spare them! ²
