We sailed slowly ¹  for many days and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus. ²  Because the wind prevented us from going any farther, ³  we sailed under the lee ⁴  of Crete off Salmone. ⁵ 

Now, get up and cross the Wadi Zered.” ¹  So we did so. ²

A wicked person ¹  shows boldness with his face, ²  but as for the upright, ³  he discerns ⁴  his ways.

A shrewd person sees danger and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going ¹  and suffer for it.
