Instead, Jonah immediately ¹  headed off to Tarshish ²  to escape ³  from the commission of the Lord. ⁴  He traveled ⁵  to Joppa ⁶  and found a merchant ship heading ⁷  to Tarshish. ⁸  So he paid the fare ⁹  and went aboard it to go with them to Tarshish far away from the Lord.

So the lame man ¹  paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.

Or who has first given to God, ¹  that God ²  needs to repay him? ³ 

You were bought with a price. Do not become slaves of men.

but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ.

Throughout the afternoon they were in an ecstatic frenzy, ¹  but there was no sound, no answer, and no response. ² 

As a result, ¹  all the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate were bowing and paying homage to Haman, for the king had so commanded. However, Mordecai did not bow, ²  nor did he pay him homage.

Neither he nor the officials who served him nor the people of Judah paid any attention to what the Lord said through the prophet Jeremiah. ¹

The warden did not concern himself ¹  with anything that was in Joseph’s ²  care because the Lord was with him and whatever he was doing the Lord was making successful.

But the Ammonite king disregarded ¹  the message sent by Jephthah. ² 

It was handed over ¹  to the foremen who used it to repair the Lord’s temple.

The backslider ¹  will be paid back ²  from his own ways, but a good person will be rewarded ³  for his.

So I paid fifteen shekels of silver and about seven bushels of barley ¹  to purchase her.

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

And in anger his lord turned him over to the prison guards to torture him ¹  until he repaid all he owed.
