Men ¹  move boundary stones; they seize the flock and pasture them. ² 

He strikes them for their wickedness, ¹  in a place where people can see, ² 

“Proclaim ¹  this message among the descendants of Jacob. ²  Make it known throughout Judah.

and he was baptizing them ¹  in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.

He confessed – he did not deny but confessed – “I am not the Christ!” ¹ 

Many of those who had believed came forward, ¹  confessing and making their deeds known. ² 

You who boast in the law dishonor God by transgressing the law!

and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we behave with great boldness, ¹ 

We have spoken freely to you, ¹  Corinthians; our heart has been opened wide to you.

The look on their faces ¹  testifies to their guilt; ²  like the people of Sodom they openly boast of their sin. ³  Too bad for them! ⁴  For they bring disaster on themselves.

But whenever you pray, go into your room, ¹  close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. ² 

so that it will not be obvious to others when you are fasting, but only to your Father who is in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

when an individual becomes guilty with regard to one of these things ¹  he must confess how he has sinned, ² 

Although you have acted in secret, I will do this thing before all Israel, and in broad daylight.’” ¹ 

No one denounces his conduct to his face; no one repays him for what ¹  he has done. ² 

The one who conceals hatred utters lies, ¹  and the one who spreads ²  slander ³  is certainly ⁴  a fool.

Look, ambassadors ¹  cry out in the streets; messengers sent to make peace ²  weep bitterly.

On every high, elevated hill you prepare your bed; you go up there to offer sacrifices.

Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’ ¹
