He watches over ¹  his holy ones, ²  but the wicked are made speechless in the darkness, for it is not by one’s own strength that one prevails.

Then ¹  he said, ‘I ²  will do this: I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

These are the ones you may not eat: the eagle, ¹  the vulture, ²  the black vulture, ³ 

Sons born during one’s youth are like arrows in a warrior’s hand. ¹ 

to guard ¹  the paths of the righteous ²  and to protect ³  the way of his pious ones. ⁴ 

Now therefore kill every boy, ¹  and kill every woman who has had sexual intercourse with a man. ² 

They captured as plunder ¹  all their wealth, all their little ones, and their wives, including everything in the houses.

But I will bring in your little ones, whom you said would become victims of war, ¹  and they will enjoy ²  the land that you have despised.

The Israelites took the women of Midian captives along with their little ones, and took all their herds, all their flocks, and all their goods as plunder.

Surely he loves the people; ¹  all your holy ones ²  are in your power. ³  And they sit ⁴  at your feet, each receiving ⁵  your words.

so I may see the prosperity ¹  of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, ²  and boast along with the people who belong to you. ³ 

“How long will you simpletons ¹  love naiveté? ²  How long ³  will mockers ⁴  delight ⁵  in mockery ⁶  and fools ⁷  hate knowledge?

So he said, “These are the two anointed ones ¹  who stand by the Lord of the whole earth.”

“Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

The chariot with the black horses is going to the north country and the white ones are going after them, but the spotted ones are going to the south country.

It would be better for him to have a millstone ¹  tied around his neck and be thrown into the sea ²  than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. ³ 

The Lord values the lives of his faithful followers. ¹ 

You reprimand arrogant people. Those who stray from your commands are doomed. ¹ 

You fools! ¹  Didn’t the one who made the outside make the inside as well? ² 

I have desired ¹  no one’s silver or gold or clothing.
