Now these are the commandments, ¹  statutes, and ordinances that the Lord your God instructed me to teach you so that you may carry them out in the land where you are headed ² 

For the land where you are headed ¹  is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, a land where you planted seed and which you irrigated by hand ²  like a vegetable garden.

When the Lord your God brings you to the land that you are going to occupy and forces out many nations before you – Hittites, ¹  Girgashites, ²  Amorites, ³  Canaanites, ⁴  Perizzites, ⁵  Hivites, ⁶  and Jebusites, ⁷  seven ⁸  nations more numerous and powerful than you –

You must dispossess the inhabitants of the land and live in it, for I have given you the land to possess it.

So I must die here in this land; I will not cross the Jordan. But you are going over and will possess that ¹  good land.

you must set apart for yourselves three cities ¹  in the middle of your land that the Lord your God is giving you as a possession.

When ¹  you enter the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you occupy it and live in it,

The Lord will plague you with deadly diseases ¹  until he has completely removed you from the land you are about to possess.

You, by your power, ¹  defeated nations and settled our fathers on their land; ²  you crushed ³  the people living there ⁴  and enabled our ancestors to occupy it. ⁵ 

could my covenant with my servant David and my covenant with the Levites ever be broken. So David will by all means always have a descendant to occupy his throne as king and the Levites will by all means always have priests who will minister before me. ¹

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will desert the faith and occupy themselves ¹  with deceiving spirits and demonic teachings, ²
