But Peter helped him up, ¹  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” ² 

“Son of man, say to the prince ¹  of Tyre, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘Your heart is proud ²  and you said, “I am a god; ³  I sit in the seat of gods, in the heart of the seas” – yet you are a man and not a god, though you think you are godlike. ⁴ 

So the Lord said, “My spirit will not remain in ¹  humankind indefinitely, ²  since ³  they ⁴  are mortal. ⁵  They ⁶  will remain for 120 more years.” ⁷ 

“I, I am the one who consoles you. ¹  Why are you afraid of mortal men, of mere human beings who are as short-lived as grass? ² 

One of the beast’s ¹  heads appeared to have been killed, ²  but the lethal wound had been healed. ³  And the whole world followed ⁴  the beast in amazement;

For he ¹  is not a human being like I am, that ²  I might answer him, that we might come ³  together in judgment.

You have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.

“Do you have eyes of flesh, ¹  or do you see ²  as a human being sees? ³ 

“Man, born of woman, ¹  lives but a few days, ²  and they are full of trouble. ³ 

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³ 

Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath, ¹  but righteousness delivers from mortal danger. ²

Why should any living person ¹  complain when punished for his sins? ² 

“Son of man, confront Jerusalem ¹  with her abominable practices

“Son of man, offer a riddle, ¹  and tell a parable to the house of Israel.

“Son of man, there were two women who were daughters of the same mother.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  the Ammonites ²  and prophesy against them.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Sidon ²  and prophesy against it.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Mount Seir, ²  and prophesy against it.

But the crowd ¹  began to shout, ²  “The voice of a god, ³  and not of a man!”
