For he spoke, and it ¹  came into existence, he issued the decree, ²  and it stood firm.

Now King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had issued orders concerning Jeremiah. He had passed them on through Nebuzaradan, the captain of his royal guard, ¹ 

So King Darius issued the written interdict.

So I gave orders, ¹  and it was determined ²  that this city from long ago has been engaging in insurrection against kings. It has continually engaged in ³  rebellion and revolt.

I have now issued a decree ¹  that anyone in my kingdom from the people of Israel – even the priests and Levites – who wishes to do so may go up with you to Jerusalem. ² 

But when the matter came to the king’s attention, the king ¹  gave written orders that Haman’s ²  evil intentions that he had devised against the Jews should fall on his own head. He and his sons were hanged on the gallows.

Joshua said, “Roll large stones over the mouth of the cave and post guards in front of it. ¹ 

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he gave the command and they came into existence.

He established them so they would endure; ¹  he issued a decree that will not be revoked. ² 

The earth will be completely devastated and thoroughly ransacked. For the Lord has decreed this judgment. ¹ 

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ¹  Then Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

Now ¹  in those days a decree ²  went out from Caesar ³  Augustus ⁴  to register ⁵  all the empire ⁶  for taxes.

May God who makes his name to reside there overthrow any king or nation ¹  who reaches out ²  to cause such change so as to destroy this temple of God in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have given orders. Let them be carried out with precision!”

Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, “All sons ¹  that are born you must throw ²  into the river, but all daughters you may let live.” ³ 

So Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Each of you must execute those of his men ¹  who were joined to Baal-peor.”

So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab, by the Jordan River ¹  across from Jericho. ²  They said,

So Moses gave orders about them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua son of Nun, and to the heads of the families of the Israelite tribes.

Then Moses gave a ruling ¹  to the Israelites by the word ²  of the Lord: “What the tribe of the Josephites is saying is right.

But Israel did plunder the cattle and the goods of the city, in accordance with the Lord’s orders to Joshua. ¹ 

The king ordered all the people, “Observe the Passover of the Lord your God, as prescribed in this scroll of the covenant.”
