There were no restrictions on the drinking, ¹  for the king had instructed all of his supervisors ²  that they should do as everyone so desired. ³ 

For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see ¹  what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

When ¹  Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform ²  some miraculous sign. ³ 

When he says above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you did not desire nor did you take delight in them” ¹  (which are offered according to the law),

A good name ¹  is to be chosen ²  rather than great wealth, good favor ³  more than silver or gold.

When ¹  the woman saw that the tree produced fruit that was good for food, ²  was attractive ³  to the eye, and was desirable for making one wise, ⁴  she took some of its fruit and ate it. ⁵  She also gave some of it to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. ⁶ 

King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba everything she requested, more than what she had brought him. ¹  Then she left and returned ²  to her homeland with her attendants.

For I tell you the truth, ¹  many prophets and righteous people longed to see ²  what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Now look! Here is the king you have chosen – the one that you asked for! Look, the Lord has given you a king!

Receiving sacrifices and offerings are not your primary concern. ¹  You make that quite clear to me! ²  You do not ask for burnt sacrifices and sin offerings.

So Daniel went in and ¹  requested the king to grant him time, that he might disclose the interpretation to the king.

who longed to eat ¹  what fell from the rich man’s table. In addition, the dogs ²  came and licked ³  his sores.

In the same way ¹  God wanted to demonstrate more clearly to the heirs of the promise that his purpose was unchangeable, ²  and so he intervened with an oath,

(14:1) Asa did what the Lord his God desired and approved. ¹ 

They ate until they were stuffed; ¹  he gave them what they desired.

To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable ¹  to the Lord than sacrifice. ² 

They ¹  love the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues ² 

During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, ¹  whomever they requested.

When they asked him to stay longer, he would not consent, ¹ 

I have desired ¹  no one’s silver or gold or clothing.
