He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

The waters ¹  saw you, O God, the waters saw you and trembled. ²  Yes, the depths of the sea ³  shook with fear. ⁴ 

You split the sea before them, and they crossed through ¹  the sea on dry ground! But you threw their pursuers ²  into the depths, like a stone into surging ³  waters.

The Lord ¹  will cross the sea of storms and will calm its turbulence. The depths of the Nile will dry up, the pride of Assyria will be humbled, and the domination ²  of Egypt will be no more.

It makes the deep boil like a cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment, ¹ 

He does whatever he pleases in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the ocean depths.

He shouted at ¹  the Red Sea and it dried up; he led them through the deep water as if it were a desert.

God has revealed these to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

By his knowledge the primordial sea ¹  was broken open, ²  and the clouds drip down dew. ³ 

For a fire has been kindled by my anger, and it burns to lowest Sheol; ¹  it consumes the earth and its produce, and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

But to the rest of you in Thyatira, all who do not hold to this teaching ¹  (who have not learned the so-called “deep secrets ²  of Satan”), to you I say: I do not put any additional burden on you.

“Can you discover ¹  the essence ²  of God? Can you find out ³  the perfection of the Almighty? ⁴ 

Have you gone to the springs that fill the sea, ¹  or walked about in the recesses of the deep?

Turn and flee! Take up refuge in remote places, ¹  you people who live in Dedan. ²  For I will bring disaster on the descendants of Esau. I have decided it is time for me to punish them. ³ 

The Lord says, ¹  “Flee quickly, you who live in Hazor. ²  Take up refuge in remote places. ³  For King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has laid out plans to attack you. He has formed his strategy on how to defeat you.” ⁴ 

By the blast of your nostrils ¹  the waters were piled up, the flowing water stood upright like a heap, ²  and the deep waters were solidified in the heart of the sea.

Of Joseph he said: May the Lord bless his land with the harvest produced by the sky, ¹  by the dew, and by the depths crouching beneath;

The depths ¹  of the sea were exposed; the inner regions ²  of the world were uncovered by the Lord’s battle cry, ³  by the powerful breath from his nose. ⁴ 

You threw me ¹  into the deep waters, ²  into the middle ³  of the sea; ⁴  the ocean current ⁵  engulfed ⁶  me; all the mighty waves ⁷  you sent ⁸  swept ⁹  over me.

For he set its foundation upon the seas, and established ¹  it upon the ocean currents. ²
