The company of priests is like a gang of robbers, lying in ambush to pounce on a victim. They commit murder on the road to Shechem; they have done heinous crimes!

They repay my love with accusations, ¹  but I continue to pray. ² 

Gilead is a city full of evildoers; ¹  its streets are stained with bloody footprints! ² 

The filthy, ¹  stained city is as good as dead; the city filled with oppressors is finished! ² 

The inscription ¹  of the charge against him read, “The king of the Jews.”

I grabbed hold of my concubine and carved her up and sent the pieces ¹  throughout the territory occupied by Israel, ²  because they committed such an unthinkable atrocity ³  in Israel.

Again Pilate went out and said to the Jewish leaders, ¹  “Look, I am bringing him out to you, so that you may know that I find no reason for an accusation ²  against him.”

When the chief priests and their officers saw him, they shouted out, “Crucify ¹  him! Crucify him!” ²  Pilate said, ³  “You take him and crucify him! ⁴  Certainly ⁵  I find no reason for an accusation ⁶  against him!”

The rest of the people will hear and become afraid to keep doing such evil among you.

Then they must proclaim, “Our hands have not spilled this blood, nor have we ¹  witnessed the crime. ² 

God repaid Abimelech for the evil he did to his father by murdering his seventy half-brothers. ¹ 

For all of them, ¹  the morning is to them like deep darkness; they are friends with the terrors of darkness.

The one who mocks the poor ¹  insults ²  his Creator; whoever rejoices over disaster will not go unpunished.

The way of the guilty person ¹  is devious, ²  but as for the pure, ³  his way is upright.

When the wicked increase, ¹  transgression increases, but the righteous will see ²  their downfall.

One who digs a pit may ¹  fall into it, and one who breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. ² 

At the beginning his words ¹  are foolish and at the end ²  his talk ³  is wicked madness, ⁴ 

(Make the chain, ¹  because the land is full of murder ²  and the city is full of violence.)

“‘See how each of the princes of Israel living within you has used his authority to shed blood. ¹ 

Above ¹  his head they put the charge against him, ²  which read: ³  “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”
