Jesse presented seven of his sons to Samuel. ¹  But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.”

Your servant stands ¹  among your chosen people; ²  they are a great nation that is too numerous to count or number.

Realize ¹  now that the Lord has chosen you to build a temple as his sanctuary. Be strong and do it!”

so I may see the prosperity ¹  of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, ²  and boast along with the people who belong to you. ³ 

until the day he was taken up to heaven, ¹  after he had given orders ²  by ³  the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

Then they prayed, ¹  “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen

These were the ones chosen ¹  from the community, leaders ²  of their ancestral tribes. ³  They were the heads of the thousands ⁴  of Israel.

So as you come to him, ¹  a living stone rejected by men but ²  chosen and priceless ³  in God’s sight,

Now look! Here is the king you have chosen – the one that you asked for! Look, the Lord has given you a king!

Then Jesse called Abinadab and presented him to Samuel. ¹  But Samuel ²  said, “The Lord has not chosen this one, either.”

Joining them were Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord. (For his loyal love endures!) ¹ 

but one thing ¹  is needed. Mary has chosen the best ²  part; it will not be taken away from her.”

We know, ¹  brothers and sisters ²  loved by God, that he has chosen you, ³ 

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues ¹  of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

How much better it is to acquire ¹  wisdom than gold; to acquire understanding is more desirable ²  than silver.
