Job took a shard of broken pottery to scrape ¹  himself ²  with while he was sitting ³  among the ashes. ⁴ 

If he is uprooted ¹  from his place, then that place ²  will disown him, saying, ³  ‘I have never seen you!’

Look, I am just like you in relation to God; I too have been molded ¹  from clay.

But you say, ‘What will it profit you,’ ¹  and, ‘What do I gain by not sinning?’ ² 

Who can uncover its outer covering? ¹  Who can penetrate to the inside of its armor? ² 

Certainly ¹  your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; ²  you reveal your anger in full measure. ³ 

Better is a dry crust of bread ¹  where there is quietness ²  than a house full of feasting with strife. ³ 

you will vomit up ¹  the little bit you have eaten, and will have wasted your pleasant words. ² 

A whip for the horse and a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools! ¹ 

To show partiality ¹  is terrible, ²  for a person will transgress over the smallest piece of bread. ³ 

This is what I also observed about wisdom on earth, ¹  and it is a great burden ²  to me:

“But you did not call for me, O Jacob; you did not long ¹  for me, O Israel.

But take a few strands of hair ¹  from those and tie them in the ends of your garment. ² 

Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’ ¹ 

Everyone who remains in your house will come to bow before him for a little money ¹  and for a scrap of bread. Each will say, ‘Assign me to a priestly task so I can eat a scrap of bread.’”

It must be eaten in one house; you must not bring any of the meat outside the house, and you must not break a bone of it.

and one round flat cake of bread, one perforated cake of oiled bread, and one wafer from the basket of bread made without yeast that is before the Lord.

You must purify each garment and everything that is made of skin, everything made of goat’s hair, and everything made of wood.” ¹ 

Then you came back and wept before the Lord, but he ¹  paid no attention to you whatsoever. ² 

Then Jonathan said, “My father has caused trouble for the land. See how my eyes gleamed ¹  when I tasted just a little of this honey.
