They ¹  tied him up, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate ²  the governor. ³ 

They ¹  stripped him and put a scarlet robe ²  around him,

He told them, “Collect no more ¹  than you are required to.” ² 

Is it right ¹  for us to pay the tribute tax ²  to Caesar ³  or not?”

Then ¹  the whole group of them rose up and brought Jesus ²  before Pilate. ³ 

One of them, named Agabus, got up ¹  and predicted ²  by the Spirit that a severe ³  famine ⁴  was about to come over the whole inhabited world. ⁵  (This ⁶  took place during the reign of Claudius.) ⁷ 

And after agreeing with the workers for the standard wage, ¹  he sent them into his vineyard.

Tell us then, what do you think? Is it right ¹  to pay taxes ²  to Caesar ³  or not?”

Then he released Barabbas for them. But after he had Jesus flogged, ¹  he handed him over ²  to be crucified. ³ 

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence ¹  and gathered the whole cohort ²  around him.

Now ¹  a man named Zacchaeus was there; he was a chief tax collector ²  and was rich.

“Show me a denarius. ¹  Whose image ²  and inscription are on it?” ³  They said, “Caesar’s.”

Now when the centurion ¹  saw what had happened, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent!” ² 

Now there was a man in Caesarea ¹  named Cornelius, a centurion ²  of what was known as the Italian Cohort. ³ 

Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; just as you believed, it will be done for you.” And the servant ¹  was healed at that hour.

Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? ¹  Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. ² 

When ¹  it was early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to execute him.

Then ¹  Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, ²  “Are you the king ³  of the Jews?” Jesus ⁴  said, “You say so.” ⁵ 

Because he wanted to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them. Then, ¹  after he had Jesus flogged, ²  he handed him over ³  to be crucified.

So ¹  the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) ²  and called together the whole cohort. ³
