Take note – I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: ¹ 

It was reported to Saul saying, “David is at Naioth in Ramah.”

that ¹  you must search out ²  my iniquity, and inquire about my sin,

“Listen now to my argument, ¹  and be attentive to my lips’ contentions. ² 

“Surely now you count my steps; ²  then you would not mark ³  my sin. ⁴ 

“I will explain to you; listen to me, and what ¹  I have seen, I will declare, ² 

Look ¹  at me and be appalled; put your hands over your mouths. ² 

Have you never questioned those who travel the roads? Do you not recognize their accounts ¹  –

“But now, O Job, listen to my words, and hear ¹  everything I have to say! ² 

Pay attention, Job – listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.

“If you have ¹  understanding, listen to this, hear what I have to say. ² 

because they have turned away from following him, and have not understood ¹  any of his ways,

“Pay attention to this, Job! Stand still and consider the wonders God works.

He is the one who forms every human heart, ¹  and takes note of all their actions.

O Lord, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for mercy!

Yet he took notice of their distress, when he heard their cry for help.

I take note of the treacherous and despise them, because they do not keep your instructions. ¹ 

If you, O Lord, were to keep track of ¹  sins, O Lord, who could stand before you? ² 

Do not be one who strikes hands in pledge or who puts up security for debts.

When you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully ¹  what ²  is before you,
