All the descendants of Israel will be vindicated by the Lord and will boast in him. ¹ 

In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

“Why does this man speak this way? He is blaspheming! ¹  Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

But give from your heart to those in need, ¹  and ²  then everything will be clean for you. ³ 

Therefore if the uncircumcised man obeys ¹  the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

But they are justified ¹  freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

For we consider that a person ¹  is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law. ² 

For if Abraham was declared righteous ¹  by the works of the law, he has something to boast about – but not before God.

He ¹  was given over ²  because of our transgressions and was raised for the sake of ³  our justification. ⁴ 

For it is right ¹  for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

And so, ¹  since we have been justified by his grace, we become heirs with the confident expectation of eternal life.” ² 

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Then ¹  I heard the altar reply, ²  “Yes, Lord God, the All-Powerful, ³  your judgments are true and just!”

O Lord, according to all your justice, ¹  please turn your raging anger ²  away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. For due to our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people are mocked by all our neighbors.

yet we know ¹  that no one ²  is justified by the works of the law ³  but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. ⁴  And ⁵  we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ ⁶  and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one ⁷  will be justified.

You must pursue justice alone ¹  so that you may live and inherit the land the Lord your God is giving you.

As for the Rock, ¹  his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. He is a reliable God who is never unjust, he is fair ²  and upright.

The God of Israel spoke, the protector ¹  of Israel spoke to me. The one who rules fairly among men, the one who rules in the fear of God,

I will never ¹  declare that you three ²  are in the right; until I die, I will not set aside my integrity!
