And he placed his hands on them and went on his way. ¹ 

What can a person give in exchange for his life?

And Jesus increased ¹  in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and with people.

Jesus ¹  said to him, “You have answered correctly; ²  do this, and you will live.”

Therefore do not let what you consider good ¹  be spoken of as evil.

Isaac had just finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had scarcely left ¹  his father’s ²  presence, when his brother Esau returned from the hunt. ³ 

Moses said, “You have been consecrated ¹  today for the Lord, for each of you was against his son or against his brother, so he has given a blessing to you today.” ² 

People will reside again ¹  in his shade; they will plant and harvest grain in abundance. ²  They will blossom like a vine, and his fame will be like the wine from Lebanon.

Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. ¹  Everyone who hears about this ²  will laugh ³  with me.”

So God treated the midwives well, ¹  and the people multiplied and became very strong.

the blessing if you take to heart ¹  the commandments of the Lord your God that I am giving you today,

Now the boy Samuel was growing up and finding favor both with the Lord and with people.

just as I was in my most productive time, ¹  when God’s intimate friendship ²  was experienced in my tent,

If they obey and serve him, they live out their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness. ¹ 

His resolve ¹  is firm; he will not succumb to fear before he looks in triumph on his enemies.

The Lord’s curse ¹  is on the household ²  of the wicked, ³  but he blesses ⁴  the home ⁵  of the righteous. ⁶ 

A faithful person ¹  will have an abundance of blessings, but the one who hastens ²  to gain riches will not go unpunished.

The greedy person ¹  stirs up dissension, ²  but the one who trusts ³  in the Lord will prosper. ⁴ 

And who am I ¹  that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?

Then ¹  he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. ²  Go in peace.”
