Gilead stayed put ¹  beyond the Jordan River. As for Dan – why did he seek temporary employment in the shipyards? ²  Asher remained ³  on the seacoast, he stayed ⁴  by his harbors. ⁵ 

They said to him, “Seek a divine oracle for us, ¹  so we can know if we will be successful on our mission.” ² 

and called David’s enemies to account.” So Jonathan made a covenant ¹  with the house of David. ² 

But David could not go before it to seek God’s will, for he was afraid of the sword of the Lord’s messenger.

In the north ¹  when he is at work, ²  I do not see him; ³  when he turns ⁴  to the south, I see no trace of him.

The Lord helps them and rescues them; he rescues them from evil men and delivers them, ¹  for they seek his protection.

How blessed ¹  is the one ²  who trusts in the Lord ³  and does not seek help from ⁴  the proud or from liars! ⁵ 

He will shelter you ¹  with his wings; ²  you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. ³ 

Whatever exists now has already been, and whatever will be has already been; for God will seek to do again ¹  what has occurred ²  in the past. ³ 

¹ Why do you insist on being battered? Why do you continue to rebel? ²  Your head has a massive wound, ³  your whole body is weak. ⁴ 

How will they respond to the messengers of this nation? ¹  Indeed, the Lord has made Zion secure; the oppressed among his people will find safety in her.

to announce the year when the Lord will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, ¹  to console all who mourn,

Raise a signal flag that tells people to go to Zion. ¹  Run for safety! Do not delay! For I am about to bring disaster out of the north. It will bring great destruction. ² 

She is disobedient; ¹  she refuses correction. ²  She does not trust the Lord; she does not seek the advice of ³  her God.

A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him, “Look, your mother and your brothers ¹  are outside looking for you.”

But ¹  he replied, ²  “Why were you looking for me? ³  Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?” ⁴ 

“Blessed are you who hunger ¹  now, for you will be satisfied. ²  “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. ³ 

For everyone who asks ¹  receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door ²  will be opened.

But carefully select from among you, brothers, ¹  seven ²  men who are well-attested, ³  full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge ⁴  of this necessary task. ⁵ 

What shall we say then? – that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,
