She made a vow saying, “O Lord of hosts, if you will look with compassion ¹  on the suffering of your female servant, ²  remembering me and not forgetting your servant, and give a male child ³  to your servant, then I will dedicate him to the Lord all the days of his life. His hair will never be cut.” ⁴ 

For we have been sold ¹  – both I and my people – to destruction and to slaughter and to annihilation! If we had simply been sold as male and female slaves, I would have remained silent, for such distress would not have been sufficient for troubling the king.”

All the men of his household, whether born in his household or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

¹ “If you buy ²  a Hebrew servant, ³  he is to serve you for six years, but in the seventh year he will go out free ⁴  without paying anything. ⁵ 

Then he must bring his guilt offering to the Lord, a flawless ram from the flock, convertible into silver shekels, ¹  for a guilt offering to the priest.

Then he presented the burnt offering ram and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram,

and the priest is to take the male lamb of the guilt offering and the log of olive oil and wave them ¹  as a wave offering before the Lord.

“In this way Aaron is to enter into the sanctuary – with a young bull ¹  for a sin offering ²  and a ram for a burnt offering. ³ 

He must then take the two goats ¹  and stand them before the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent,

He must bring his guilt offering to the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent, a guilt offering ram, ¹ 

And for the redemption of the 273 firstborn males of the Israelites who exceed the number of the Levites,

¹ Balaam said to Balak, “Build me seven altars here, and prepare for me here seven bulls and seven rams.”

So Balak did just as Balaam had said. Balak and Balaam then offered on each ¹  altar a bull and a ram.

Then God met Balaam, who ¹  said to him, “I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram.”

Then Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars here for me, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”

with their grain offering of finely ground flour mixed with olive oil: three-tenths of an ephah for each bull, two-tenths for the one ram,

“‘Their grain offering is to be of finely ground flour mixed with olive oil, three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths of an ephah for the ram,

Their grain offering must be of finely ground flour mixed with olive oil, three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the ram,

and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, according to their number as prescribed,
