Romans 8:1-27
-
[Rom 8:1] One Day I Traveled A Toilsome Road
One day I traveled a toilsome road
Over the hills of despair;
One day I carried a weary load,
Cumbered with toil and with care.Refrain
The burden that once I carried is gone, is gone
Of all my sins there remaineth not one, not one.
Jesus, the Savior, hath ransomed me,
Bearing my sins upon Calvary,
Giving me glorious liberty;
My burden of sin is gone.Gone is the night with its shadows drear;
Morning hath dawned upon me.
Gone is the burden of anxious fear;
Freedom my portion shall be.Refrain
No more the burden of guilt is mine;
No more in bondage I dwell.
Unto my glorious King divine
Jubilant praises shall swell.Refrain

[Rom 8:2] O Spirit Of Life
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
In every need Thou bringest aid,
Thou camest forth from God’s great throne,
From God, the Father and the Son;
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
Make us to love Thy sacred Word;
The holy flame of love impart,
That charity may warm each heart;
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
Increase our faith in our dear Lord;
Unless Thy grace the power should give,
None can believe in Christ and live;
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
Enlighten us by Thy blest Word;
Teach us to know the Father’s love,
And His dear Son, who reigns above:
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:9] Thy Home Is With The Humble, Lord
Thy home is with the humble, Lord;
The simplest are the best;
Thy lodging is in childlike hearts;
Thou makest there Thy rest.Dear Comforter, eternal Love,
If Thou wilt stay with me,
Of lowly thoughts and simple ways
I’ll build a house for Thee.Who made this beating heart of mine
But Thou, my heavenly Guest?
Let no one have it, then, but Thee,
And let it be Thy rest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:12] When This Passing World Is Done
When this passing world is done,
When has sunk yon glaring sun,
When we stand with Christ in glory,
Looking o’er life’s finished story,
Then, Lord, shall I fully know—
Not till then—how much I owe.When I hear the wicked call,
On the rocks and hills to fall,
When I see them start and shrink
On the fiery deluge brink,
Then, Lord, shall I fully know—
Not till then—how much I owe.When I stand before the throne,
Dressed in beauty not my own,
When I see Thee as Thou art,
Love Thee with unsinning heart,
Then Lord, shall I fully know—
Not till then—how much I owe.When the praise of Heav’n I hear,
Loud as thunders to the ear,
Loud as many waters’ noise,
Sweet as harp’s melodious voice,
Then, Lord, shall I fully know—
Not till then—how much I owe.Even on earth, as through a glass
Darkly, let Thy glory pass,
Make forgiveness feel so sweet,
Make Thy Spirit’s help so meet,
Even on earth, Lord, make me know
Something of how much I owe.Chosen not for good in me,
Wakened up from wrath to flee,
Hidden in the Savior’s side,
By the Spirit sanctified,
Teach me, Lord, on earth to show,
By my love, how much I owe.Oft I walk beneath the cloud,
Dark, as midnight’s gloomy shroud;
But, when fear is at the height,
Jesus comes, and all is light;
Blessed Jesus! bid me show
Doubting saints how much I owe.When in flowery paths I tread,
Oft by sin I’m captive led;
Oft I fall—but still arise—
The Spirit comes—the tempter flies;
Blessed Spirit! bid me show
Weary sinners all I owe.Oft the nights of sorrow reign—
Weeping, sickness, sighing, pain;
But a night Thine anger burns—
Morning comes and joy returns;
God of comforts! bid me show
To Thy poor, how much I owe.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:14] Why Should The Children Of A King
Why should the children of a King
Go mourning all their days?
Great Comforter! descend and bring
Some tokens of Thy grace.Dost Thou not dwell in all the saints,
And seal the heirs of Heav’n?
When wilt Thou banish my complaints,
And show my sins forgiv’n?Assure my conscience of her part
In the Redeemer’s blood;
And bear Thy witness with my heart
That I am born of God.Thou art the earnest of His love,
The pledge of joys to come;
And Thy soft wings, celestial Dove,
Will safe convey me home.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:15] Adopted
O what a blessing, how can I express it?
Out of the fullness of rapture I sing,
Now by the Father received and adopted,
I am a child and an heir of a King.Refrain
I am adopted, O wonderful love,
Heir to a heritage purchased above;
Tell it, my soul, and joyfully sing,
I am a child and an heir of a King.O what a Father, how tenderly gracious,
O what a Savior to make me His care;
Tho’ I have slighted, rejected, and grieved Him,
Still He permits me His kingdom to share.Refrain
O the unsearchable riches He giveth,
Riches increasing from day unto day;
Treasures in value all others excelling,
Treasures that never will rust nor decay.Refrain
When I have finished the work He appoints me,
When I have ended my journey below,
Then to my Father and Jesus my Savior,
Home to a beautiful palace I go.Refrain

[Rom 8:15] God Our Father, We Adore Thee
God, our Father, we adore Thee! We, Thy children, bless Thy Name!
Chosen in the Christ before Thee, we are “holy without blame.”
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Abba’s praises we proclaim!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Abba’s praises we proclaim!Son Eternal, we adore Thee! Lamb upon the throne on high!
Lamb of God, we bow before Thee, Thou hast brought Thy people nigh!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Son of God, who came to die!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Son of God, who came to die!Holy Spirit, we adore Thee! Paraclete and heavenly Guest!
Sent from God and from the Savior, Thou hast led us into rest.
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! By Thy grace forever blessed:
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! By Thy grace forever blessed!Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Three in One! We give Thee praise!
For the riches we inherit, heart and voice to Thee we raise!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Thee we bless, through endless days!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Thee we bless, through endless days!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:16] It’s Real
O how well do I remember
How I doubted day by day,
For I did not know for certain
That my sins were washed away.
When the Spirit tried to tell me,
I would not the truth receive;
I endeavored to be happy
And to make myself believe.Refrain
But it’s real, it’s real!
O I know it’s real
Praise God, the doubts are settled,
For I know, I know it’s real!When the truth came close and searching,
All my joys would disappear,
For I did not have the witness
Of the Spirit bright and clear.
If at times the coming judgment
Would appear before my mind,
O it made me so uneasy,
For God’s smile I could not find.Refrain
When the Lord sent faithful servants
Who would dare to preach the truth,
How my heart did so condemn me
As the Spirit gave reproof!
Satan said at once, “Twill ruin
You now to confess your state;
Keep on working and professing,
And you’ll enter Heaven’s gate.”Refrain
But at last I tired of living
Such a life of fear and doubt,
For I wanted God to give me
Something I would know about,
So the truth would make me happy
And the light would clearly shine,
And the Spirit gave assurance
That I’m His and He is mine.Refrain
So I prayed to God in earnest,
And not caring what folks said.
I was hungry for the blessing;
My pour soul—it must be fed.
Then at last by faith I touched Him
And, like sparks from smitten steel,
Just so quick salvation reached me.
O bless God, I know it’s real!Refrain

[Rom 8:16] O Thou Whose Spirit Witness Bears
O Thou Whose Spirit witness bears
Within our spirits free,
That we Thy children are and heirs
Of Thine eternity.Here may this simple faith sublime
O’er-arch us like the sky;
Secure below the drift of time
Its firm foundations lie.Our thought o’erflows each written scroll
Our creeds arise and fall;
The life of God within the soul
Lives and outlasts them all.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:17] A Child Of The King
My Father is rich in houses and lands,
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,
His coffers are full, He has riches untold.Refrain
I’m a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior,
I’m a child of the King.My Father’s own Son, the Savior of men,
Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them;
But now He is pleading our pardon on high,
That we may be His when He comes by and by.Refrain
I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, an alien by birth,
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown.Refrain
A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
They’re building a palace for me over there;
Though exiled from home, yet still may I sing:
All glory to God, I’m a child of the King.Refrain

[Rom 8:17] Children Of The Heavenly King
Children of the heavenly King,
As ye journey, sweetly sing;
Sing your Savior’s worthy praise,
Glorious in His works and waysWe are traveling home to God,
In the way the fathers trod;
They are happy now, and we
Soon their happiness shall see.O, ye banished seed, be glad!
Christ our Advocate is made;
Us to save, our flesh assumes—
Brother to our souls becomes.Shout, ye little flock, and blest,
You on Jesus’ throne shall rest:
There your seat is now prepared—
There your kingdom and reward.Lift your eyes, ye sons of light,
Zion’s city is in sight:
There our endless home shall be,
There our Lord we soon shall see.Fear not, brethren; joyful stand
On the borders of your land;
Jesus Christ, your Father’s Son,
Bids you undismayed go on.Lord, obedient we would go,
Gladly leaving all below;
Only Thou our Leader be;
And we will still follow Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:17] In Our Work And In Our Play
In our work and in our play,
Jesus, ever with us stay;
May we always strive to be
True and faithful unto Thee.
Then we truthfully can sing,
We are children of the King.May we in Thy strength subdue
Evil tempers, words untrue,
Thoughts impure, and deeds unkind,
All things hateful to Thy mind.
Then we truthfully can sing,
We are children of the King.Children of the King are we!
May we loyal to Him be;
Try to please Him every day,
In our work and in our play.
Then we truthfully can sing,
We are children of the King.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:17] O That Will Be Glory
When all my labors and trials are o’er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore,
Will through the ages be glory for me.Refrain
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.When, by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in Heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face,
Will through the ages be glory for me.Refrain
Friends will be there I have loved long ago;
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.Refrain

[Rom 8:22] Almighty Father, Who Dost Give
Almighty Father, who dost give
The gift of life to all who live,
Look down on all earth’s sin and strife,
And lift us to a nobler life.Lift up our hearts, O King of kings,
To brighter hopes and kindlier things;
To visions of a larger good,
And holier dreams of brotherhood.Thy world is weary of its pain;
Of selfish greed and fruitless gain;
Of tarnished honor, falsely strong,
And all its ancient deeds of wrong.Hear Thou the prayer Thy servants pray,
Uprising from all lands today,
And o’er the vanquished powers of sin,
O bring Thy great salvation in.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:22] Christ Is Coming!
Christ is coming! Let creation
From her groans and travail cease;
Let the glorious proclamation
Hope restore and faith increase;
Christ is coming! Christ is coming!
Come, Thou blessèd Prince of Peace.Earth can now but tell the story
Of Thy bitter cross and pain;
She shall yet behold Thy glory,
When Thou comest back to reign;
Christ is coming! Christ is coming!
Let each heart repeat the strain.Though once cradled in a manger,
Oft no pillow but the sod;
Here an alien and a stranger,
Mocked of men, disowned of God.
Christ is coming! Christ is coming!
Come, Thou blessèd Prince of Peace!Long Thine exiles have been pining,
Far from rest, and home, and Thee;
But, in heav’nly vestures shining,
They their loving Lord shall see;
Christ is coming! Christ is coming!
Haste the joyous jubilee.With that blessèd hope before us,
Let no harp remain unstrung;
Let the mighty advent chorus
Onward roll from tongue to tongue:
“Christ is coming! Christ is coming!
Come, Lord Jesus, quickly come!”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:22] Come, Lord, And Tarry Not
Come, Lord, and tarry not;
Bring the long looked for day;
O why these years of waiting here,
These ages of decay?Come, for Thy saints still wait;
Daily ascends their sigh;
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come”;
Does Thou not hear the cry?Come, for creation groans,
Impatient of Thy stay,
Worn out with these long years of ill,
These ages of delay.Come, for love waxes cold,
Its steps are faint and slow;
Faith now is lost in unbelief,
Hope’s lamp burns dim and low.Come in Thy glorious might,
Come with the iron rod,
Scattering Thy foes before Thy face,
Most mighty Son of God!Come, and make all things new,
Build up this ruined earth;
Restore our faded Paradise,
Creation’s second birth.Come, and begin Thy reign
Of everlasting peace;
Come, take the kingdom to Thyself,
Great King of Righteousness.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Shout, ye ransomed, o’er the grace He brings;

On Thee all its sins and sorrow roll?
Know Thy full salvation and be whole?

[Rom 8:22] Savior! Hasten Thine Appearing
Savior! hasten Thine appearing;
Take Thy waiting people home!
’Tis this hope, our spirits cheering,
While we in the desert roam,
Makes Thy people
Strangers here till Thou shalt come.Lord! how long shall the creation
Groan and travail sore in pain;
Waiting for its sure salvation,
When Thou shalt in glory reign,
And like Eden,
This sad earth shall bloom again?Reign, oh, reign! almighty Savior!
Heaven and earth in one unite;
Make it known that in Thy favor
There alone is life and light.
When we see Thee,
We shall have unmixed delight.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:27] O Thou, Who Hast At Thy Command
O Thou, who hast at Thy command
The hearts of all men in Thy hand,
Our wayward, erring hearts incline
To have no other will but Thine.Our wishes, our desires, control;
Mold every purpose of the soul;
O’er all may we victorious prove
That stands between us and Thy love.Thrice blest will all our blessings be,
When we can look through them to Thee;
When each glad heart its tribute pays
Of love and gratitude and praise.And while we to Thy glory live,
May we to Thee all glory give,
Until the final summons come,
That calls Thy willing servants home.Play source: Cyberhymnal
