Psalms 119:1--147:20

[Psa 119:1] Blest Are The Undefiled In Heart
Blest are the undefiled in heart,
Whose ways are right and clean;
Who never from Thy law depart,
But fly from every sin.Blest are the men that keep Thy Word,
And practice Thy commands;
With their whole heart they seek the Lord,
And serve thee with their hands.Great is their peace who love Thy law;
How firm their souls abide!
Nor can a bold temptation draw
Their steady feet aside.Then shall my heart have inward joy,
And keep my face from shame,
When all Thy statutes I obey,
And honor all Thy Name.But haughty sinners God will hate,
The proud shall die accursed;
The sons of falsehood and deceit
Are trodden to the dust.Vile as the dross the wicked are;
And those that leave Thy ways
Shall see salvation from afar,
But never taste Thy grace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:2] O Let My Supplicating Cry
O let my supplicating cry
By Thee, my gracious Lord, be heard;
Give wisdom and deliver me
According to Thy faithful Word.Instructed in Thy holy law,
To praise Thy Word I lift my voice;
O Lord, be Thou my present help,
For Thy commandments are my choice.For Thy salvation I have longed,
And in Thy law is my delight;
Enrich my soul with life divine,
And help by Thy judgments right.Thy servant like a wandering sheep
Has lost the path and gone astray;
Restore my soul and lead me home,
For Thy commands I would obeyPlay source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:5] O That The Lord Would Guide My Ways
O that the Lord would guide my ways
To keep His statutes still!
O that my God would grant me grace
To know and do His will!O send Thy Spirit down to write
Thy law upon my heart!
Nor let my tongue indulge deceit,
Nor act the liar’s part.From vanity turn off my eyes;
Let no corrupt design,
Nor covetous desires, arise
Within this soul of mine.Order my footsteps by Thy Word,
And make my heart sincere;
Let sin have no dominion, Lord,
But keep my conscience clear.My soul hath gone too far astray,
My feet too often slip;
Yet since I’ve not forgot Thy way,
Restore Thy wand’ring sheep.Make me to walk in Thy commands,
’Tis a delightful road;
Nor let my head, or heart, or hands,
Offend against my God.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:9] Bible, The
The Bible! the Bible! more precious than gold,
The hopes and the glories its pages unfold;
It speaks of a Savior, and tells of His love;
It shows us the way to the mansions above,
It shows us the way to the mansions above.The Bible! the Bible! blest volume of truth,
How sweetly it smiles on the season of youth!
It bids us seek early the pearl of great price,
Ere th’heart is enslaved in the bondage of vice,
Ere th’heart is enslaved in the bondage of vice.The Bible! the Bible! we hail it with joy,
Its truths and its glories our tongues shall employ;
We’ll sing of its triumphs, we’ll sing of its worth,
And send its glad tidings afar o’er the earth,
And send its glad tidings afar o’er the earth.The Bible! the Bible! the valleys shall ring,
And hilltops re-echo the notes that we sing;
Our banners inscribed with its precepts and rules
Shall long wave in triumph, the joy of our schools,
Shall long wave in triumph, the joy of our schools.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:9] How, Can I, Lord, Keep My Way Pure?
How can I, Lord, keep my way pure?
To Your Word I must be true.
So I seek You with my whole heart;
Do not let me stray from You.Your Word’s hidden in my heart, Lord,
That I might not go astray.
Praise to You, O Lord, my Father;
Teach me Your decrees each day.With my lips I recount gladly
All the laws You’ve giv’n to man.
I rejoice in all Your statutes,
As in wealth too vast to scan.Meditating on Your precepts,
I consider all Your ways.
I delight in Your decrees, Lord;
I will never turn away.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:9] How Shall The Young Direct Their Way?
How shall the young direct their way?
What light shall be their perfect guide?
Thy Word, O Lord, will safely lead,
If in its wisdom they confide.
Sincerely I have sought Thee, Lord,
O let me not from Thee depart;
To know Thy will and keep from sin
Thy Word I cherish in my heart.O blessèd Lord, teach me Thy law,
Thy righteous judgments I declare;
Thy testimonies make me glad,
For they are wealth beyond compare.
Upon Thy precepts and Thy ways
My heart will meditate with awe;
Thy Word shall be my chief delight,
And I will not forget Thy law.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:9] How Shall The Young Secure Their Hearts
How shall the young secure their hearts
And guard their lives from sin?
Thy Word the choicest rules imparts
To keep the conscience clean.When once it enters to the mind,
It spreads such light abroad,
The meanest souls instruction find,
And raise their thoughts to God.’Tis, like the sun, a heav’nly light
That guides us all the day,
And through the dangers of the night
A lamp to lead our way.The men that keep Thy law with care,
And meditate Thy Word,
Grow wiser than their teachers are,
And better know the Lord.Thy precepts make me truly wise:
I hate the sinner’s road;
I hate my own vain thoughts that rise,
But love Thy law, my God.The starry heav’ns Thy rule obey,
The earth maintains her place;
And these Thy servants, night and day,
Thy skill and power express.But still Thy law and Gospel, Lord,
Have lessons more divine;
Not earth stands firmer than Thy Word,
Nor stars so nobly shine.Thy Word is everlasting truth;
How pure is every page!
That holy Book shall guide our youth
And well support our age.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

At His command take from His hand,
The Bread of Life receive.Refrain

Holy Bible, Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine to tell me whence I came;
Mine to teach me what I am.Mine to chide me when I rove;
Mine to show a Savior’s love;
Mine thou art to guide and guard;
Mine to punish or reward.Mine to comfort in distress;

Thy Word is a lamp to my feet,
A light to my path alway,
To guide and to save me from sin,
And show me the heav’nly way.Refrain
Thy Word have I hid in my heart,
That I might not sin against Thee;

Abideth forever nigh.Refrain

Salvation and peace have been brought
To those who have strayed afar.Refrain

[Psa 119:16] A Glory Gilds The Sacred Page
A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic like the sun;
It gives a light to every age;
It gives, but borrows none.The Spirit breathes upon the Word
And brings the truth to sight;
Precepts and promises afford
A sanctifying light.The hand that gave it still supplies
The gracious light and heat;
His truths upon the nations rise;
They rise, but never set.Let everlasting thanks be Thine
For such a bright display.
As makes a world of darkness shine
With beams of heavenly day.My soul rejoices to pursue
The steps of Him I love,
Till glory breaks upon my view
In brighter worlds above.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:16] Upon The Gospel’s Sacred Page
Upon the Gospel’s sacred page
The gathered beams of ages shine;
And, as it hastens, every age
But makes its brightness more divine.On mightier wing, in loftier flight,
From year to year does knowledge soar;
And, as it soars, the Gospel light
Becomes effulgent more and more.More glorious still, as centuries roll,
New regions blest, new powers unfurled,
Expanding with the expanding soul,
Its radiance shall o’er flow the world.Flow to restore, but not destroy,
As when the cloudless lamp of day
Pours out its floods of light and joy,
And sweeps the lingering mists away.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:16] We Love The Good Old Bible
We love the good old Bible,
The glorious Word of God,
The lamp for those who travel
O’er all life’s dreary road.
The watchword in life’s battle,
The chart on life’s dark sea;
The beautiful, dear Bible,
It shall our teacher be.Who would not love the Bible,
So beautiful and wise?
Its teachings charm the simple,
And point us to the skies.
Its stories all so mighty
Of men so brave to see;
The beautiful, dear Bible,
It shall our teacher be.But most we love the Bible,
For there we children learn
How Christ for us became a child,
Our hearts to Him to turn;
And how He bowed to sorrow,
That we His face might see,
The Bible, O the Bible,
It shall our teacher be.Then we will hold the Bible,
The glorious book of God;
We’ll ne’er forsake the Bible
Through all life’s future road.
And when we lie adying,
Wherever that may be,
The beautiful, dear Bible,
Shall still our solace be.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Thy servant, blessed by Thee, shall live
And keep Thy Word with awe;
Lord open Thou mine eyes to see
The wonders of Thy law.A pilgrim in the earth am I,
Thy will to me reveal;
To know Thy truth my spirit yearns,
Consumed with ardent zeal.Thou dost rebuke the proud, O Lord,
Who hate Thy holy Name;
But since I keep Thy righteous law,
Deliver me from shame.I on Thy statutes meditate,
Though evil men deride;
Thy faithful Word is my delight,
My counselor and guide.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;

Everything false will disappear.Refrain

Love with Thy children thus to share.Refrain

Thy Word is like a garden, Lord, with flowers bright and fair;
And every one who seeks may pluck a lovely cluster there.
Thy Word is like a deep, deep mine; and jewels rich and rare
Are hidden in its mighty depths for every searcher there.Thy Word is like a starry host: a thousand rays of light
Are seen to guide the traveler and make his pathway bright.
Thy Word is like an armory, where soldiers may repair;
And find, for life’s long battle day, all needful weapons there.O may I love Thy precious Word, may I explore the mine,

How wondrous and great
Thy works, God of praise!
How just, King of saints,
And true are Thy ways!
O who shall not fear Thee,
And honor Thy Name?
Thou only art holy,
Thou only supreme.To nations long dark

[Psa 119:30] Christ In His Word Draws Near
Christ in His Word draws near;
Hush, moaning voice of fear,
He bids thee cease;
With songs sincere and sweet
Let us arise, and meet
Him Who comes forth to greet
Our souls with peace.Rising above thy care,
Meet Him as in the air,
O weary heart;
Put on joy’s sacred dress;
Lo, as He comes to bless,
Quite from thy weariness
Set free thou art.For works of love and praise
He brings thee summer days,
Warm days and bright;
Winter is past and gone,
Now He, salvation’s Sun,
Shineth on every one
With mercy’s light.From the bright sky above,
Clad in His robes of love,
’Tis He, our Lord!
Dim earth itself grows clear
As His light draweth near;
O let us hush and hear
His holy Word.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:30] Give Me The Bible
Give me the Bible, star of gladness gleaming,
To cheer the wand’rer lone and tempest tossed;
No storm can hide that radiance peaceful beaming,
Since Jesus came to seek and save the lost.Refrain
Give me the Bible, holy message shining;
Thy light shall guide me in the narrow way;
Precept and promise, law and love combining,
Till night shall vanish in eternal day.Give me the Bible, when my heart is broken,
When sin and grief have filled my soul with fear;
Give me the precious words by Jesus spoken,
Hold up faith’s lamp to show my Savior near.Refrain
Give me the Bible, all my steps enlighten,
Teach me the danger of these realms below;
That lamp of safety o’er the gloom shall brighten,
That light alone the path of peace can show.Refrain

Show me the glory gilding Jordan’s wave.Refrain

[Psa 119:30] Voice Of God’s Creation Found Me, The
The Voice of God’s Creation found me
Perplexed midst hope and fear,
For though His sunshine flashed around me,
His storms at times drew near:
And I said—
Oh! that I knew where He abideth!
For doubts beset our lot,
And lo! His glorious face He hideth,
And men perceive it not!The Voice of God’s Protection told me
He loveth all He made;
I seemed to feel His arms enfold me,
And yet was half afraid:
And I said—
Oh! that I knew where I might find Him!
His eye would guide me right:
He leaveth countless tracks behind Him,
Yet passeth out of sight.The Voice of Conscience sounded nearer,
It stirred my inmost breast;
But though its tones were firmer, clearer,
’Twas not the voice of rest:
And I said—
Oh! that I knew if He forgiveth!
My soul is faint within,
Because in grievous fear it liveth
Of wages due to sin.It was the Voice of Revelation
That met my utmost need;
The wondrous message of salvation
Was joy and peace indeed:
And I said—
Oh! how I love the sacred pages
From which such tidings flow,
As monarchs, patriarchs, poets, sages,
Have longed in vain to know!For now is life a lucid story,
And death a rest in Him,
And all is bathed in light and glory
That once was dark or dim:
And I said—
O Thou Who dost my soul deliver,
And all its hopes uplift;
Give me a tongue praise the Giver,
A heart to prize the gift.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

God’s message of love
Sent down from above,
Oh, take it wherever you go!Carry the word of pardon,

Somewhere some heart will be waiting—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain
Carry the wondrous story,
Tell it to hearts plunged in woe;
This word of gracious redemption—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain
Carry the word of promise;
Sinners unpardoned may know
God’s path from sin unto safety—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain

[Psa 119:33] My Mother’s Bible (morris)
This book is all that’s left me now!
Tears will unbidden start—
With faltering lip and throbbing brow
I press it to my heart.
For many generations past,
Here is our family tree!
My mother’s hands this Bible clasped,
She, dying, gave it me.Ah, well do I remember those
Whose names these records bear;
Who round the hearth-stone used to close
After the evening prayer,
And speak of what these pages said,
In tones my heart would thrill!
Though they are with the silent dead,
Here are they living still!My father read this holy book
To brothers, sisters dear;
How calm was my poor mother’s look,
Who leaned God’s Word to hear!
Her angel face—I see it yet!
What thronging memories come—
Again that little group is met
Within the halls of home!Thou truest friend man ever knew,
Thy constancy I’ve tried;
When all were false I found thee true,
My counselor and guide.
The mines of earth no treasures give,
That could this volume buy;
In teaching me the way to live,
It taught me how to die.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:35] Father, Make Us Loving
Father, make us loving, gentle, thoughtful, kind;
Fill us with Thy Spirit, make us of Thy mind.
Help us love each other, more and more each day,
Help us follow Jesus, in the narrow way.Refrain
We would learn of Jesus,
Help us here below,
Follow in His footsteps,
Who hath loved us so.Father, we would ever, live as in Thy sight;
Thou dost know our longings after what is right.
Fill our hearts with kindness as we onward go,
Teach us to be loving, Thou hast loved us so.Refrain

[Psa 119:35] Lord, Not For Light In Darkness
Lord, not for light in darkness do we pray,
Not that the veil be lifted from our eyes,
Not that the slow ascension of our day
Be otherwise.We know the paths wherein our feet should press,
Across our hearts are written Thy decrees;
Yet now O Lord, be merciful to bless,
With more than these.Grant us the will to fashion as we feel;
Grant us the strength to labor as we know;
Grant us the purpose, ribbed and edged with steel,
To strike the blow.Knowledge we ask not, knowledge Thou hast lent,
But Lord, the will, there lies our bitter need;
Give us to build above the deep intent
The deed, the deed.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:41] Let Everlasting Glories Crown
Let everlasting glories crown
Thy head, my Savior and my Lord;
Thy hands have brought salvation down,
And writ the blessings in Thy Word.What if we trace the globe around,
And search from Britain to Japan,
There shall be no religion found
So just to God, so safe for man.In vain the trembling conscience seeks
Some solid ground to rest upon;
With long despair the spirit breaks,
Till we apply to Christ alone.How well Thy blessèd truths agree!
How wise and holy Thy commands!
Thy promises, how firm they be!
How firm our hope and comfort stands.Not the feigned fields of heath’nish bliss
Could raise such pleasures in the mind;
Nor does the Turkish paradise
Pretend to joys so well refined.Should all the forms that men devise
Assault my faith with treach’rous art,
I’d call them vanity and lies,
And bind the Gospel to my heart.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:41] Thy Promised Mercies Send To Me
Thy promised mercies send to me,
Thy great salvation, Lord;

Take not Thy truth from me;
And in Thy law forevermore
My daily walk shall be.And I will walk at liberty
Because Thy truth I seek;
Thy truth before the kings of earth
With boldness I will speak.The Lord’s commands, which I have loved,
Shall still new joy impart;
With reverence I will hear Thy laws
And keep them in my heart.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Psa 119:42] I Do Not Know How
I do not know how Adam’s sin

Nor how it causes all the wrong
And sorrow that we see.Refrain
But I read it in God’s Word, and I believe it;
Yes, I believe it, fully believe it!
I read it in God’s Word, and I believe it,
And that is all I need to do.I do not know how God could give

His bed a manger bare.Refrain
I do not know how God could lay
My sins upon His Son,
Nor how, on Calv’ry’s cross, for me

I do not know how God could call
His Son from out the grave,
Nor how that way to me His
Everlasting life He gave.Refrain
I do not know how Jesus’ blood

Thy promises my trust;
At night I thought upon Thy Word,
Most holy and most just.O hear me in Thy grace,

Still to Thy commands I cleave;
Thinking on Thy former judgments,

[Psa 119:57] O Jesus, I Have Promised
O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway if Thou wilt be my Guide.O let me feel Thee near me! The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me, around me and within;
But Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.O let me hear Thee speaking in accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self will.
O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
O speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul.O Jesus, Thou hast promised to all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory there shall Thy servant be.
And Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.O let me see Thy footprints, and in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly is in Thy strength alone.
O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end;
And then in Heaven receive me, my Savior and my Friend.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Thou art my portion, Lord;
Thy words I ever heed;
With all my heart, Thy grace I seek,
Thy promises I plead.I thought upon my ways,
Thy testimonies learned;
With earnest haste, and waiting not,
To Thy commands I turned.While snares beset my path,
Thy law I keep in view;
At midnight I will give Thee praise
For all Thy judgments true.All those who fear Thy Name
Shall my companions be;
Thy mercy fills the earth, O Lord;
Thy statutes teach Thou me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:61] To Thee, My Heart, Eternal King
To Thee, my heart, eternal King,
Would now its thankful tribute bring;
To Thee its humble homage raise
In songs of ardent, grateful, praise.All nature shows Thy boundless love,
In worlds below and worlds above;
But in Thy blessèd Word I trace
The richer glories of Thy grace.Here what delightful truths are giv’n;
Here Jesus shows the way to Heav’n;
His Name salutes my listening ear,
Revives my heart, and checks my fear.For love like this, O may our song
Through endless years Thy praise prolong;
And distant climes Thy Name adore,
Till time and nature are no more.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:65] Thou, Lord, Hast Dealt Well With Thy Servant

Thy promise is faithful and just;
Instruct me in judgment and knowledge,
For in Thy commandments I trust.Before my affliction I wandered,
But now Thy good Word I obey;
O Thou Who art holy and gracious,
Now teach me Thy statutes, I pray.The proud have assailed me with slander;
Thy precepts shall still be my guide;
Thy law is my joy and my treasure,
Though sinners may boast in their pride.Affliction has been for my profit,
That I to Thy statutes might hold;

[Psa 119:68] Good Thou Art, And Good Thou Dost
Good Thou art, and good Thou dost,
Thy mercies reach to all,
Chiefly those who on Thee trust,
And for Thy mercy call;
New they every morning are;
As fathers when their children cry,
Us Thou dost in pity spare,
And all our wants supply.Mercy o’er Thy works presides;
Thy providence displayed
Still preserves, and still provides
For all Thy hands have made;
Keeps, with most distinguished care,
The man who on Thy love depends;
Watches every numbered hair,
And all his steps attends.Who can sound the depths unknown
Of Thy redeeming grace?
Grace that gave Thine only Son
To save a ruined race!
Millions of transgressors poor
Thou hast for Jesus’ sake forgiven,
Made them of Thy favor sure,
And snatched from hell to Heaven.Millions more Thou ready art
To save, and to forgive;
Every soul and every heart
Of man Thou wouldst receive:
Father, now accept of mine,
Which now, through Christ, I offer Thee;
Tell me now, in love divine,
That Thou hast pardoned me!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:71] O How I Love Thy Holy Word
O How I love Thy holy Word,
Thy gracious covenant, O Lord!
It guides me in the peaceful way,
I think upon it all the day.What are the mines of shining wealth,
The strength of youth, the bloom of health!
What are all joys compared with those
Thine everlasting Word bestows!Long unafflicted, undismayed,
In pleasures path secure I strayed;
Thou mad’st me feel Thy chast’ning rod,
And strait I turned unto my God.What though it pierced my fainting heart,
I bless Thine hand that caused the smart;
It taught my tears awhile to flow,
But saved me from eternal woe.O! hadst Thou left me unchastised,
Thy precept I had still despised;
And still the snare in secret laid,
Had my unwary feet betrayed.I love Thee therefore O my God,
And breathe towards Thy dear abode;
Where in Thy presence fully blest,
Thy chosen saints forever rest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:72] Begin, My Tongue, Some Heavenly Theme
Begin, my tongue, some heavenly theme
And speak some boundless thing;
The mighty works, or mightier Name
Of our eternal King.Tell of His wonderful faithfulness
And sound His power abroad;
Sing the sweet promise of His grace,
The love and truth of God.
[originally, And the performing God]Proclaim “salvation from the Lord
For wretched, dying men”;
His hand has writ the sacred Word
With an immortal pen.Engraved as in eternal brass
The mighty promise shines;
Nor can the powers of darkness ‘rase
Those everlasting lines.He that can dash whole worlds to death,
And make them when He please,
He speaks, and that almighty breath
Fulfils His great decrees.His every word of grace is strong
As that which built the skies;
The voice that rolls the stars along
Speaks all the promises.He said, “Let the wide heav’n be spread,”
And heav’n was stretched abroad:
“Abram, I’ll be thy God,” He said,
And He was Abram’s God.O might I hear Thy heavenly tongue
But whisper, “Thou art Mine!”
Those gentle words shall raise my song
To notes almost divine.How would my leaping heart rejoice,
And think my heav’n secure!
I trust the all creating voice,
And faith desires no more.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:73] Thou, Who Didst Make And Fashion Me
Thou, who didst make and fashion me,
O make me wise Thy law to learn;
Then they that fear Thee shall be glad
When they my hope in God discern.Thou, Lord, art just in all Thy ways,
And faithful when Thou chastenest me;
I pray Thee, let Thy promised grace
Thy servant’s help and comfort be.Show mercy, Lord, that I may live,
For in Thy law is all my joy;
While those who wrong me are rebuked,
Thy precepts shall my thought employ.Let those that fear Thee turn to me,
Thy truth to them will I proclaim;
Instruct my heart to keep Thy law,
That I may not be put to shame.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:81] My Soul For Thy Salvation Faints
My soul for Thy salvation faints,
But still I hope in Thee;
I long to see Thy promised help,
When Thou shalt comfort me.Thy statutes I do not forget,
Though wasting grief I know;
Thy servant’s days are few, O Lord:
When wilt Thou judge my foe?The proud, disdainful of Thy law,
Entrap me wrongfully;
O Thou, whose law is just and true,
Help and deliver me.Almost consumed, yet from Thy law
I have not turned away;
In lovingkindness give me strength,
That I may still obey.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:89] Forever Settled In The Heavens
Forever settled in the heav’ns,
Thy Word, O Lord, shall firmly stand;
Thy faithfulness shall never fail;
The earth abides at Thy command.Thy Word and works unmoved remain,
Thine every purpose to fulfill;
All things are Thine and Thee obey,
And all as servants wait Thy will.I should have perished in my woe
Had not I loved Thy law divine;
That law I never can forget;
O save me, Lord, for I am Thine.The wicked would destroy my soul,
But in Thy truth is refuge sure;
Exceeding broad is Thy command,
And in perfection shall endure.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:94] Peace, Doubting Heart!
Peace, doubting heart! my God’s I am;
Who formed me man, forbids my fear;
The Lord hath called me by my name;
The Lord protects, for ever near;
His blood for me did once atone,
And still He loves and guards His own.When passing through the watery deep,
I ask in faith He promised aid,
The waves all awful distance keep,
And shrink from my devoted head;
Fearless their violence I dare;
They cannot harm, for God is there!To Him mine eye of faith I turn,
And through the fire pursue my way;
The fire forgets its power to burn,
The lambent flames around me play;
I own His power, accept the sign,
And shout to prove the Savior mine.Still nigh me, O my Savior, stand!
And guard in fierce temptation’s hour;
Hide in the hollow of Thy hand,
Show forth in me Thy saving power,
Still be Thy arms my sure defense,
Nor earth nor hell shall pluck me thence.Since Thou hast bid me come to Thee,
Good as Thou art, and strong to save
I’ll walk o’er life’s tempestuous sea,
Upborne by the unyielding wave,
Dauntless, though rocks of pride be near,
And yawning whirlpools of despair.When darkness intercepts the skies,
And sorrow’s waves around me roll,
When high the storms of passion rise,
And half o’erwhelm my sinking soul,
My soul a sudden calm shall feel,
And hear a whisper, “Peace; be still!”Though in affliction’s furnace tried,
Unhurt on snares and death I’ll tread;
Though sin assail, and hell, thrown wide,
Pour all its flames upon my head,
Like Moses’ bush, I’ll mount the higher,
And flourish unconsumed in fire.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

They who find in Thee their rest!
Savior, Guardian, heavenly Friend,
O defend us to the end.Thine forever! Savior, keep
These Thy frail and trembling sheep,
Safe alone beneath Thy care,
Let us all Thy goodness share.Thine forever in that day
When the world shall pass away;
When the trumpet note shall sound,
And the nations undergroundShall the awful summons hear,
Which proclaims the judgment near.

All our sins by Thee forgiven,

Lamp of our feet whereby we trace
Our path when wont to stray;
Stream from the fount of heav’nly grace,
Brook by the traveler’s way.Bread of our souls whereon we feed,
True manna from on high;
Our guide and chart wherein we read
Of realms beyond the sky.Pillar of fire, through watches dark,
Or radiant cloud by day;
When waves would break our tossing bark,
Our anchor and our stay.Word of the ever living God,
Will of His glorious Son;
Without Thee, how could earth be trod
Or Heav’n itself be won?Yet to unfold thy hidden worth,
Thy mysteries to reveal,
That Spirit which first gave thee forth,
Thy volume must unseal.Lord, grant us all aright to learn

Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom, lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home; lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou shouldst lead me on;
I loved to choose and see my path; but now lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years!So long Thy power hath blest me, sure it still will lead me on.
O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till the night is gone,
And with the morn those angel faces smile, which I
Have loved long since, and lost awhile!Meantime, along the narrow rugged path, Thyself hast trod,
Lead, Savior, lead me home in childlike faith, home to my God.
To rest forever after earthly strife
In the calm light of everlasting life.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

What holy dreams of brotherhood;
God of our Fathers, help us dare
Their passion for the common good.Wild roars the blast, the storm is high;
Above the storm are shining still
The lights by which we live and die;

Defend us till our voyage is done;
Across the floods of fear and death
The Mayflower still is sailing on.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

When in Eden sin enticed;
And it shows the way to glory
If we follow Jesus Christ.Precious Bible! in my bosom
Thy dear words a home shall find.
Countless blessings are, with beauty,
In Thy promises assigned;
My poor heart once roamed a desert,
Vast and dry, of withered sod,
Till Thy guidance brought me through it
To the living stream of God.I will hide Thy words within me
Deep, where time cannot delete;

Biding through my hours of care,

And keep Thy laws in sight,
While through the promises I rove,
With ever fresh delight.’Tis a broad land of wealth unknown,

[Psa 119:114] Hail, Sovereign Love
Hail, sovereign love that first began,
The scheme to rescue fallen man;
Hail matchless free eternal grace,
That gave my soul a hiding place.Against the God who rules the sky,
I fought with hand uplifted high,
Despised the mention of His grace,
Too proud to seek a hiding place.Enwrapped in thick Egyptian night,
And fond of darkness more than light,
Madly I ran the sinful race,
Secure without a hiding place.But thus th’ eternal counsel ran,
“Almighty Love, arrest that man!”
I felt the arrows of distress,
And found I had no hiding place.Indignant justice stood in view,
To Sinai’s fiery mount I flew,
But Justice cried with frowning face,
“This mountain is no hiding place!”Ere long a heavenly voice I heard,
And Mercy’s angel form appeared.
Who led me on with gentle pace,
To Jesus Christ, my hiding place.On Him Almighty vengeance fell,
That must have sunk a world to hell;
He bore it for a chosen race,
And thus became their hiding place.Should storms of sevenfold vengeance roll,
And shake this earth from pole to pole;
No flaming bolt could daunt my face,
For Jesus is my hiding place.A few more rolling suns at most,
Shall land me safe on Heaven’s coast.
There I shall sing the song of grace,
To Jesus Christ, my hiding place!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:116] O Thou Who Sealest Up The Past
O Thou Who sealest up the past,
The days slip from us, and the years
Grow silent with their hopes and fears;
’Tis Thine to keep all things at last.We have not done the things we would,
A blotted page we render back;
And yet, whate’er our work may lack,
Thy work goes on, and Thou art good.Thou movest in the moving years;
Wherever man is, there Thou art
To overrule his feebler part,
And bring a blessing out of tears.Thou opener of the years to be,
Let me not lose, in woe or weal,
The touch of Thy strong hand I feel
Upholding and directing me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:117] At Thy Feet, O Christ
At Thy feet, O Christ, we lay
Thine own gift of this new day;
Doubt of what it holds in store
Makes us crave Thine aid the more;
Lest it prove a time of loss,
Mark, it Savior, with Thy Cross.If it flow on calm and bright,
Be Thyself our chief Delight;
If it bring unknown distress,
Good is all that Thou canst bless;
Only, while its hours begin,
Pray we, keep them clear of sin.We in part our weakness know
And in part discern our foe;
Well for us, before Thine eyes
All our danger open lies;
Turn not from us, while we plead
Thy compassions and our need.Fain would we Thy Word embrace,
Live each moment on Thy grace,
All our selves to Thee consign,
Fold up all our wills in Thine,
Think, and speak, and do, and be
Simply that which pleases Thee.Hear us, Lord, and that right soon;
Hear, and grant the choicest boon
That Thy love can e’er impart,
Loyal singleness of heart;
So shall this and all our days,
Christ and God, show forth Thy praise.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:120] Ah, What Can I Do?
Ah, what can I do, or where be secure?
If justice pursue, what heart can endure?
When God speaks in thunder and makes Himself known,
The heart breaks asunder though hard as a stone.With terror I read my sins’ heavy score,
The numbers exceed the sands on the shore;
Guilt makes me unable to stand or to flee,
So Cain murdered Abel, and trembled like me.Each sin, like his blood, with terrible cry,
Calls loudly on God to strike from on high:
Nor can my repentance, extorted by fear,
Reverse the just sentence;’tis just, though severe.The case is too plain,I have my own choice;
Again, and againI slighted His voice;
His warnings neglected,His patience abused,
His Gospel rejected,His mercy refused.And must I then go, forever to dwell
In torments and woe with devils in hell?
Oh where is the SaviorI scorned in times past?
His word in my favor would save me at last.Lord Jesus, on TheeI venture to call,
Oh look upon me, the vilest of all!
For whom didst Thou languish and bleed on the tree?
Oh pity my anguish, and say, “’Twas for thee.”A case such as mine will honor Thy power;
All hell will repine, all Heav’n will adore;
If in condemnation strict justice takes place,
It shines in salvation more glorious through grace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Thy wondrous testimonies, Lord,

Thy Word, by faithful lips proclaimed,
To simplest minds the truth conveys.I thirst for Thy commandments, Lord,
And for Thy mercy press my claim;
O look on me, and show the grace
Displayed to all who love Thy Name.Direct my footsteps in Thy Word,
From sin’s dominion save my soul,
From man’s oppression set me free,
That I may yield to Thy control.O make Thy face to shine on me,
And teach me all Thy laws to keep;
Because Thy statutes are despised,
With overwhelming grief I weep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

The strains of praise and love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

And all Thy law is true.Delight amid distress and pain
Do Thy commandments give;
Thy Word is righteous evermore,
Teach me that I may live.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:140] Lord, Open Thou My Heart
Lord, open Thou my heart to hear
And through Thy Word to me draw near;
Let me Thy Word e’er pure retain,
Let me Thy child and heir remain.Thy Word doth deeply move the heart,
Thy Word doth perfect health impart,
Thy Word my soul with joy doth bless,
Thy Word brings peace and happiness.To God the Father, God the Son,
And God the Spirit, Three in One,
Shall glory, praise, and honor be
Now and throughout eternity.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:151] O Love Divine, That Stooped To Share
O Love divine, that stooped to share
Our sharpest pang, our bitterest tear!
On Thee we cast each earthborn care;
We smile at pain while Thou art near.Though long the weary way we tread,
And sorrow crown each lingering year,
No path we shun, no darkness dread,
Our hearts still whispering, “Thou art near!”When drooping pleasure turns to grief,
And trembling faith is changed to fear,
The murmuring wind, the quivering leaf,
Shall softly tell us Thou art near!On Thee we fling our burdening woe,
O Love divine, forever dear!
Content to suffer while we know,
Living and dying, Thou art near!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:153] Regard My Grief And Rescue Me
Regard my grief and rescue me,
For I do not forget Thy laws;
As Thou hast promised, save me, Lord,
Redeem my soul, and plead my cause.Far is salvation from the men
Who do not seek Thy statutes, Lord;
Great are Thy mercies, quicken me
According to Thy holy Word.I bear the spite of many foes,
Yet from Thy law I do not swerve;
I saw the faithless and was grieved,
For they Thy Word do not observe.Behold how I Thy precepts love!
In kindness, Lord, revive Thou me;
The sum of all Thy Word is truth;
Thy Word abides eternally.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:156] In Tenderness He Sought Me
In tenderness He sought me,
Weary and sick with sin;
And on His shoulders brought me
Back to His fold again.
While angels in His presence sang
Until the courts of Heaven rang.Refrain
Oh, the love that sought me!
Oh, the blood that bought me!
Oh, the grace that brought me to the fold,
Wondrous grace that brought me to the fold.He washed the bleeding sin wounds,
And poured in oil and wine;
He whispered to assure me,
“I’ve found thee, thou art Mine”;
I never heard a sweeter voice;
It made my aching heart rejoice!Refrain
He pointed to the nail prints,
For me His blood was shed,
A mocking crown so thorny
Was placed upon His head;
I wondered what He saw in me,
To suffer such deep agony.Refrain
I’m sitting in His presence,
The sunshine of His face,
While with adoring wonder
His blessings I retrace.
It seems as if eternal days
Are far too short to sound His praise.Refrain
So while the hours are passing,
All now is perfect rest,
I’m waiting for the morning,
The brightest and the best,
When He will call us to His side,
To be with Him, His spotless bride.Refrain

[Psa 119:160] Blessed Bible
All praise to Him Who reigns above
In majesty supreme,
Who gave His Son for man to die,
That He might man redeem!Refrain
Blessèd be the Name! Blessèd be the Name!
Blessèd be the Name of the Lord!
Blessèd be the Name! Blessèd be the Name!
Blessèd be the Name of the Lord!His Name above all names shall stand,
Exalted more and more,
At God the Father’s own right hand,
Where angel hosts adore.Refrain
Redeemer, Savior, Friend of man
Once ruined by the fall,
Thou hast devised salvation’s plan,
For Thou hast died for all.Refrain
His Name shall be the Counselor,
The mighty Prince of Peace,
Of all earth’s kingdoms Conqueror,
Whose reign shall never cease.Refrain

[Psa 119:160] I Do Believe The Bible
I do believe the Bible, the blesséd Word of God,
And close unto its promises I cleave.
It points me to the pathway the saints and martyrs trod,
My Father is its Author, and I believe.Refrain
Yes, I believe the blessèd Word of God,
It marks the paths His people all have trod;
The story, from creation, all thro’ to “Revelation,”
Bears proof of inspiration, and I believe.It was my parents’ counsel; to them its truths were grand.
And mem’ry oft a picture sweet doth weave
Of that “old-fashioned Bible that lay upon the stand,”
In life, in death, it cheered them, and I believe.Refrain
I once was lost and dying, in darkness and despair,
And o’er my lost condition long I grieved,
Until I searched the Bible and learned of Jesus there,
Who sweetly blest and saved me when I believed.Refrain
Bold infidels may cavil, and scorn the blesséd Book,
And with their groundless doctrines may deceive;
Still all the while the Bible brings peace to those who look
With faith upon its pages, and I believe.Refrain

[Psa 119:161] No Book Is Like The Bible
No book is like the Bible,
For childhood, youth and age;
Our duty, plain and simple,
We find on every page.
It came by inspiration,
A light to guide our way,
A voice from Him who gave it,
Reproving when we stray.Refrain
No book is like the Bible,
The blessèd book we love,
The pilgrim’s chart of glory,
It leads to God above.It tells of man’s creation,
His sad, primeval fall;
It tells of man’s redemption,
Through Christ, who died for all;
In sacred words of wisdom
It bids us watch and pray,
And early come to Jesus,
The Life, the Truth, the Way.Refrain
O, let us love the Bible,
And praise it more and more;
Our life is like a shadow,
Our days will soon be o’er;
But if we closely follow
The counsel God has giv’n,
We then may hope with angels
To sing His praise in Heav’n.Refrain

[Psa 119:161] Though Mighty Foes Assail Me, Lord
Though mighty foes assail me, Lord,
I fear not them, but Thee;
As boundless wealth and priceless spoil,
Thy Word rejoices me.
Deceit and falsehood I abhor,
But in Thy law delight;
Throughout the day I praise Thy Name,
For all Thy ways are right.Great peace has he who loves Thy law,
Unmoved, he safely stands;
For Thy salvation I have hoped
And followed Thy commands.
Thy testimonies I have kept,
They are my chief delight;
Observant of Thy law and truth,
I walk before Thy sight.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:162] The Highest Joy
The highest joy that can be known
To those who heav’nward wend—
It is the Word of Life to own,
And God to have as Friend;
It is the Word of Life to own,
And God to have as Friend.The Word doth give me wealth untold,
All good it has in store;
My deepest sorrows lose their hold
To joys forevermore;
My deepest sorrows loose their hold
To joys forevermore.How often when in deep despair
My soul has been restored,
And when the tempter would ensnare
’Twould strength to stand afford;
And when the tempter would ensnare
’Twould strength to stand afford.It tells me of a love divine,
How Jesus’ blood was shed;
Each day this joyous song is mine
As paths of grace I tread;
Each day this joyous song is mine
As paths of grace I tread.When stars above shall shine no more
God’s Word is still my light;
When pleasures of this world are o’er,
My joys shall reach their height;
When pleasures of this world are o’er,
My joys shall reach their height.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:163] Deceit And Falsehood I Abhor
Deceit and falsehood I abhor,
But love Thy law, Thy truth revealed;
My steadfast hope is in Thy Word;
Thou art my Refuge and my Shield;
The paths of sin I have not trod,
But kept the precepts of my God.According to Thy gracious Word
Uphold me, Lord, deliver me;
O do not let me be ashamed
Of patient hope and trust in Thee;
O hold Thou me, and I shall stand
And ever follow Thy command.The froward Thou hast set at naught
Who vainly wander from the right;
The wicked Thou dost count as dross;
Thy just decrees are my delight;
For fear of Thee I stand in awe
And reverence Thy most holy law.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:170] Lord Jesus Christ, My Savior Blest
Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior blest,
My Hope and my Salvation!
I trust in Thee; deliver me from misery;
Thy Word’s my consolation.As Thou dost will, lead Thou me still
That I may truly serve Thee,
My God, I pray, teach me Thy way to my last day
In Thy true faith preserve me.Most heartily I trust in Thee;
Thy mercy fails me never.
Dear Lord, abide; my Helper tried, Thou Crucified,
From evil keep me ever.Now henceforth must I put my trust
In Thee, O dearest Savior.
Thy comfort choice, Thy Word and voice, my heart rejoice
Despite my ill behavior.When sorrows rise, my refuge lies
In Thy compassion tender.
Within Thine arm can naught alarm; keep me from harm,
Be Thou my strong Defender.I have Thy Word, Christ Jesus, Lord;
Thou never wilt forsake me.
This will I plead in time of need. Oh, help with speed
When troubles overtake me!Grant, Lord, I pray, Thy grace each day
That I, Thy Law revering,
May live with Thee and happy be eternally
Before Thy throne appearing.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:174] How I Love Thy Law, O Lord
How I love Thy law, O Lord!
Daily joy its truths afford;
In its constant light I go,
Wise to conquer every foe.Thy commandments in my heart,
Truest wisdom can impart;
To my eyes Thy precepts show
Wisdom more than sages know.While my heart Thy Word obeys,
I am kept from evil ways;
From Thy law, with Thee to guide,
I have never turned aside.Sweeter are Thy words to me
Than all other good can be;
Safe I walk, Thy truth my light,
Hating falsehood, loving right.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:176] Take Me, O My Father, Take Me
Take me, O my Father, take me;
Take me, save me, through Thy Son;
That which Thou wouldst have me, make me,
Let Thy will in me be done.
Long from Thee my footsteps straying,
Thorny proved the way I trod;
Weary come I now, and praying,
Take me to Thy love, my God.Fruitless years with grief recalling,
Humbly I confess my sin;
At Thy feet, O Father, falling,
To Thy household take me in.
Freely now to Thee I proffer
This relenting heart of mine;
Freely life and love I offer,
Gift unworthy love like Thine.Once the world’s Redeemer, dying,
Bore our sins upon the tree;
On that sacrifice relying,
Now I look in hope to Thee:
Father, take me; all forgiving,
Fold me to Thy loving breast;
In Thy love forever living
I must be forever blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 119:176] We Have Not Known Thee As We Ought
We have not known Thee as we ought,
Nor learned Thy wisdom, grace and power;
The things of earth have filled our thought,
And trifles of the passing hour.
Lord, give us light Thy truth to see,
And make us wise in knowing Thee.We have not feared Thee as we ought,
Nor bowed beneath Thine awful eye,
Nor guarded deed and word and thought,
Remembering that God was nigh.
Lord, give us faith to know Thee near,
And grant the grace of holy fear.We have not loved Thee as we ought,
Nor cared that we are loved by Thee;
Thy presence we have coldly sought,
And feebly longed Thy face to see.
Lord, give a pure and loving heart
To feel and know the love Thou art.We have not served Thee as we ought,
Alas, the duties left undone,
The work with little fervor wrought,
The battles lost or scarcely won!
Lord, give the zeal, and give the might,
For Thee to toil, for Thee to fight.When shall we know Thee as we ought,
And fear and love and serve aright?
When shall we, out of trial brought,
Be perfect in the land of light?
Lord, may we day by day prepare
To see Thy face and serve Thee there.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 120:1] I Cried To God In My Distress
I cried to God in my distress,
And by the Lord my prayer was heard;
O save me, Lord, from lying lips
And from the false, deceitful word.What woe for falsehood can atone,
Or punish the deceitful tongue,
The tongue whose speech consumes like fire,
Whose words like deadly shafts are flung?Alas for me, whose lot is cast
With those who find their joy in strife!
With those who hate the paths of peace
I long have dwelt and spent my life.In thought and act I am for peace,
Peace I pursue and ever seek;
But those about me are for strife,
Though I in love and kindness speak.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 121:1] Across The Sky The Shades Of Night
Across the sky the shades of night
This New Year’s Eve are fleeting,
We deck Thine altar, Lord, with light,
In solemn worship meeting;
And as the year’s last hours go by,
We raise to Thee our earnest cry,
Once more Thy love entreating.Before the cross subdued we bow,
To Thee our prayers addressing,
Recounting all Thy mercies now,
And all our sins confessing;
Beseeching Thee this coming year
To keep us in Thy faith and fear
And crown us with Thy blessing.And while we pray, we lift our eyes
To dear ones gone before us,
Safe home with thee in paradise,
Whose peace descendeth o’er us;
And beg of Thee, when life is past,
To reunite us all at last
With those who’ve gone before us.We gather up in this brief hour
The memory of Thy mercies;
Thy wondrous goodness, love and power
Our grateful song rehearses;
For Thou hast been our Strength and Stay
In many a dark and dreary day
Of sorrow and reverses.In many an hour when fear and dread,
Like evil spells, have bound us
And clouds were gathering overhead,
Thy providence hath found us.
In many a night when seas ran high,
Thy gracious presence, drawing nigh,
Hath made all calm around us.Then, O great God, in years to come,
Whatever may betide us,
Right onward through our journey home
Be Thou at hand to guide us;
Nor leave us till at close of life,
Safe from all perils, toil, and strife,
Heaven shall enfold and hide us.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

No careless slumber shall His eyelids close, who keepeth thee.
Behold, He sleepeth not, He slumbereth ne’er,
Who keepeth Israel in His holy care.Jehovah is Himself thy Keeper true, thy changeless Shade;
Jehovah thy Defense on thy right hand Himself hath made.
And thee no sun by day shall ever smite;
No moon shall harm thee in the silent night.From every evil shall He keep thy soul, from every sin;

Jehovah, God, Thy gracious power,
On every hand we see;

And reaches to the skies;
Thine eye of mercy never sleeps,
Thy goodness never dies.From morn till noon, till latest eve,
Thy hand, O God, we see;
And all the blessings we receive,
Proceed alone from Thee.In all the varying scenes of time,

There is an eye that never sleeps
Beneath the wing of night;
There is an ear that never shuts
When sink the beams of light.There is an arm that never tires
When human strength gives way;
There is a love that never fails
When earthly loves decay.That eye is fixed on seraph throngs;
That arm upholds the sky;
That ear is filled with angel songs;
That love is throned on high.But there’s a power which man can wield
When mortal aid is vain,
That eye, that arm, that love to reach,
That listening ear to gain.That power is prayer, which soars on high,
Through Jesus, to the throne,
And moves the hand which moves the world,
To bring salvation down.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Safe in Thine arms of love, shall my refuge be;
Then, over a tranquil tide, my bark shall safely glide;
I shall be satisfied, ever close to Thee.Keep Thou my all, O Lord, hide my life in Thine;
O let Thy sacred light over my pathway shine;
Kept by Thy tender care, gladly the cross I’ll bear;

Dangers faced by night and day,
By the infinite compassion
Pleading for souls that stray,

Souls for whom the Savior died,

Dear Savior, all I think or do
Thine eye can see;
My many wants, my trials, too,
Thine eye can see;
Where’er I dwell it matters not,
My home a palace or a cot;
Thank God! whatever be my lot,
Thine eye can see.Refrain
Thine eye can see,
Thine eye can see;
Thank God! whatever be my lot,
Thine eye can see.Do clouds obscure my morning sun?
Thine eye can see;
Do friends forsake me, one by one?
Thine eye can see;
Have I no home, no resting place?
Still opened are Thine arms of grace,
The tear of sorrow on my face
Thine eye can see.Refrain
When evening shadows o’er me creep,
Thine eye can see;
When on my pillow calm I sleep,
Thine eye can see;
I thank Thee for Thy watchful care,
How sweet Thy tender love to share,
And know that every grief I bear
Thine eye can see.Refrain
If I will serve Thee day by day,
Thine eye can see;
If from Thy pleasant paths I stray,
Thine eye can see;
Oh, take my heart, my will subdue,
And may I ever keep in view,
That all I think and all I do
Thine eye can see.Refrain

Near the spot where I first saw the day;
Where in childhood I learned of the Savior,
As the Life, and the Truth, and the Way.Refrain
O come to the church in the village,
O come while the bells sweetly chime,
O come from the hills and the valleys,
And list to the Gospel sublime;
O come to the church in the village,

Seek God, while still there is time.There it stands, when the bright sun is shining,
Where the broad, spreading trees cast their shade,
Then at eve, when the sun has descended,
See it stand in the twilight arrayed.Refrain
Then the light, shining thro’ stainèd windows
Sifting out, shimmers into the night,
Giving all that it touches new beauty,
And dispelling the darkness with light.Refrain
Thus the darkness and blindness that bound me
Were removed in that dear, sacred place,

My friends devoutly say,
“In Zion let us all appear,
And keep the solemn day!”I love her gates, I love the road;
The church, adorned with grace,
Stands like a palace built for God,
To show His milder face.Up to her courts with joys unknown
The holy tribes repair;
The Son of David holds His throne,
And sits in judgment there.He hears our praises and complaints;
And while His awful voice
Divides the sinners from the saints,
We tremble and rejoice.Peace be within this sacred place,
And joy a constant guest!
With holy gifts and heav’nly grace
Be her attendants blest!My soul shall pray for Zion still,
While life or breath remains;
There my best friends, my kindred dwell,
There God my Savior reigns.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

And there our vows and honors pay.Zion, thrice happy place,
Adorned with wondrous grace,
And walls of strength embrace thee round;
In thee our tribes appear
To pray, and praise, and hear
The sacred Gospel’s joyful sound.There David’s greater Son
Has fixed His royal throne,
He sits for grace and judgment there:
He bids the saint be glad,
He makes the sinner sad,
And humble souls rejoice with fear.May peace attend thy gate,
And joy within thee wait
To bless the soul of every guest!
The man that seeks thy peace,
And wishes thine increase,
A thousand blessings on him rest!My tongue repeats her vows,

With our assembled powers,
In strong and beauteous order ranged,
Like her united towers.O ever pray for Salem’s peace;
For they shall prosperous be,
Thou holy city of our God,
Who bear true love to Thee.
May peace within Thy sacred walls
A constant guest be found;
With plenty and prosperity
Thy palaces be crowned.For my dear brethren’s sake, and friends
No less than brethren dear,
I’ll pray: May peace in Salem’s towers
A constant guest appear.

And ever wish thee well,
For Sion and the temple’s sake,
Where God vouchsafes to dwell.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Abba, Father, give me grace
In Thy courts to seek Thy face.While Thy glorious praise is sung,
Touch my lips, unloose my tongue,
That my joyful soul may bless
Christ the Lord, my Righteousness.While the prayers of saints ascend,
God of Love, to mine attend.
Hear me, for Thy Spirit pleads;
Hear, for Jesus intercedes.While I hearken to Thy law,
Fill my soul with humble awe
Till Thy Gospel bring to me
Life and immortality.While Thy ministers proclaim
Peace and pardon in Thy Name,

And ever may thy palaces
Prosperity retain.Now, for my friends and brethren’s sake,
Peace be in thee, I’ll say;
And for the house of God our Lord
I’ll seek thy good alway.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 123:1] To Thee, O Lord, I Lift Mine Eyes
To Thee, O Lord, I lift mine eyes,
O Thou enthroned above the skies;
As servants watch their master’s hand,
Or maidens by their mistress stand;
So to the Lord our eyes we raise,
Until His mercy He displays.Refrain
To Thee, O Lord, I lift mine eyes,
O Thou enthroned above the skies.O Lord, our God, Thy mercy show,
For man’s contempt and scorn we know;
Reproach and shame Thy saints endure
From wicked men who dwell secure;
Man’s proud contempt and scorn we know;
O Lord, our God, Thy mercy show.Refrain

[Psa 123:1] With Joy We Lift Our Eyes
With joy we lift our eyes,
To those bright realms above,
That glorious temple in the skies,
Where dwells eternal Love.Before Thy throne we bow,
O Thou almighty King;
Here we present the solemn vow
And hymns of praise we sing.While in Thy house we kneel,
With trust and holy fear,
Thy mercy and Thy truth reveal,
And lend a gracious ear.Lord, teach our hearts to pray,
And tune our lips to sing,
Nor from Thy presence cast away,
The sacrifice we bring.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 123:3] God Of All Grace, Thy Mercy Send
God of all grace, Thy mercy send;
Let Thy protecting arm defend;
Save us and keep us to the end:
Have mercy, Lord.And through the coming hours of night,
Fill us, we pray, with holy light;
Keep us all sinless in Thy sight:
Grant this, O Lord.May some bright messenger abide
For ever by Thy servants’ side,
A faithful guardian and our guide:
Grant this, O Lord.From every sin in mercy free,
Let heart and conscience stainless be;
That we may live henceforth for Thee:
Grant this, O Lord.We would not be by care opprest;
But in Thy love and wisdom rest;
Give what Thou seest to be best:
Grant this, O Lord.While we of every sin repent,
Let our remaining years be spent
In holiness and sweet content:
Grant this, O Lord.And when the end of life is near,
May we, unshamed and void of fear,
Wait for the judgment to appear:
Grant this, O Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 124:1] Now Israel May Say
Now Israel may say, and that in truth,
If that the Lord had not our right maintained,
If that the Lord had not with us remained,
When cruel men against us rose to strive,
We surely had been swallowed up alive.Yea, when their wrath against us fiercely rose,
The swelling tide had o’er us spread its wave,
The raging stream had then become our grave,
The surging flood, in proudly swelling roll,
Most surely then had overwhelmed our soul.Blest be the Lord, who made us not their prey;
As from the snare a bird escapeth free,
Their net is rent and so escaped are we;
Our only help is in God’s holy Name,
Who made the earth and all the heavenly frame.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 124:2] If God Had Not Been On Our Side
If God had not been on our side
And had not come to aid us,
The foes with all their power and pride
Would surely have dismayed us;
For we, His flock, would have to fear
The threat of men both far and near
Who rise in might against us.Their furious wrath, did God permit,
Would surely have consumed us
And as a deep and yawning pit
With life and limb entombed us.
Like men o’er whom dark waters roll
Their wrath would have engulfed our soul
And, like a flood, o’erwhelmed us.Blest be the Lord, who foiled their threat
That they could not devour us;
Our souls, like birds, escaped their net,
They could not overpower us.
The snare is broken—we are free!
Our help is ever, Lord, in Thee,
Who madest earth and Heaven.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 124:7] Bird With The Broken Wing, The
I walked in the woodland meadows,
Where sweet the thrushes sing,
And found on a bed of mosses,
A bird with a broken wing;
I healed its wing, and each morning
It sang its old sweet strain,
But the bird with the broken pinion,
Never soared as high again,
Never soared as high again.I found a young life broken
By sin’s seductive art,
And, touched with a Christlike pity,
I took him to my heart;
He lived with a nobler purpose,
And struggled not in vain,
But the life that sin had stricken,
Never soared as high again,
Never soared as high again.But the bird with the broken pinion
Kept another from the snare,
The life that sin had stricken,
Raised another from despair;
Each loss has its own compensation,
There’s healing for each pain,
But the bird with the broken pinion
Never soared as high again,
Never soared as high again.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 125:1] All Who, With Heart Confiding
All who, with heart confiding,
Depend on God alone,
Like Zion’s mount abiding,
Shall ne’er be overthrown.
Like Zion’s city, bounded
By guarding mountains broad,
His people are surrounded
Forever by their God.No scepter of oppression
Shall hold unbroken sway,
Lest unto base transgression
The righteous turn away.
Thy favor be imparted
To godly men, O Lord,
Bless all that are pure-hearted,
The good with good reward.The men who falsehood cherish,
Forsaking truth and right,
With wicked men shall perish;
God will their sin requite;
From sin Thy saints defending,
Their joy, O Lord, increase,
With mercy never ending
And everlasting peace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 125:1] Such As In God The Lord Do Trust
Such as in God the Lord do trust
As Mount Sion shall firmly stand,
And be removèd at no hand,
The Lord will count them right and just,
So that they shall be sure
Forever to endure.As mighty mountains huge and great
Jerusalem about do close,
So will the Lord be unto those
Who on His godly will do wait;
Such are to Him so dear
They never need to fear.For though the righteous try doth He
By making wicked men His rod,
Lest they through grief forsake their God;
It shall not as their lot still be.
Give, Lord, to us Thy light
Whose hearts are true and right.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 125:2] Zion Stands By Hills Surrounded
Zion stands by hills surrounded,
Zion, kept by power divine;
All her foes shall be confounded,
Though the world in arms combine;
Happy Zion, what a favored lot is thine!
Happy Zion, what a favored lot is thine!Every human tie may perish;
Friend to friend unfaithful prove;
Mothers cease their own to cherish;
Heav’n and earth at last remove;
But no changes can attend Jehovah’s love,
But no changes can attend Jehovah’s love.In the furnace God may prove thee,
Thence to bring thee forth more bright,
But can never cease to love thee;
Thou art precious in His sight;
God is with thee—God, thine everlasting Light,
God is with thee—God, thine everlasting Light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 126:1] When In His Might The Lord
When in His might the Lord arose to set us free,
And Zion was restored from her captivity,
In transports then of joy and mirth
We praised the Lord of all the earth.The nations saw with fear the might of God displayed,
When He at last drew near to give His people aid;
Great things for us the Lord has wrought,
And gladness to our hearts has brought.Again refresh us, Lord, with Thy reviving love,
And be Thy blessing poured in mercy from above;
By grace revive our hearts again,
As streams refreshed by copious rain.Although with bitter tears the sower bears his seed,
When harvest time appears he shall be glad indeed;
For they that in the sowing weep
Shall yet in joy and gladness reap.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 126:1] When Zion In Her Low Estate
When Zion in her low estate
Was brought from bondage by the Lord,
In ecstasy we sang for joy,
By grace and wondrous love restored.The Lord, in greatly blessing us,
Before the world His power displays;
Yea, great things God has done for us
And filled our hearts with joy and praise.O Lord, refresh us by Thy grace,
Revive and quicken all our powers,
As failing streams are made to flow,
Replenished by abundant showers.The sower, bearing precious seed,
May weep as in his toil he grieves,
But he shall come again with joy
In harvest time with golden sheaves.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 126:2] Singing All The Time
I feel like singing all the time,
My tears are wiped away;
For Jesus is a friend of mine,
I’ll serve Him every day.Refrain
I’m singing, singing,
Singing all the time;
Singing, singing,
Singing all the time.When on the cross my Lord I saw,
Nailed there by sins of mine;
Fast fell the burning tears; but now,
I’m singing all the time.Refrain
When fierce temptations try my heart,
I sing, Jesus is mine;
And so, though tears at times may start,
I’m singing all the time.Refrain
The wondrous story of the Lamb,
Tell with that voice of thine,
Till others, with the glad new song
Go singing all the time.Refrain

[Psa 126:6] Bringing In The Sheaves
Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.Refrain
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter’s chilling breeze;
By and by the harvest, and the labor ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.Refrain
Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master,
Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;
When our weeping’s over, He will bid us welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.Refrain

[Psa 126:6] Far And Near
Far and near the fields are teeming
With the waves of ripened grain;
Far and near their gold is gleaming
O’er the sunny slope and plain.Refrain
Lord of harvest, send forth reapers!
Hear us, Lord, to Thee we cry;
Send them now the sheaves to gather
Ere the harvest time pass by.Send them forth with morn’s first beaming,
Send them in the noontide’s glare;
When the sun’s last rays are gleaming,
Bid them gather everywhere.Refrain
O thou, whom thy Lord is sending,
Gather now the sheaves of gold;
Heav’nward then at evening wending,
Thou shalt come with joy untold.Refrain

[Psa 126:6] He That Goeth Forth With Weeping
He that goeth forth with weeping,
Bearing precious seed in love,
Never tiring, never sleeping,
Findeth mercy from above.Soft descend the dews of heaven,
Bright the rays celestial shine;
Precious fruits will thus be given
Through an influence all divine.Sow thy seed; be never weary;
Let no fears thy soul annoy;
Be the prospect ne’er so dreary,
Thou shalt reap the fruits of joy.Lo! the scene of verdure brightening,
See the rising grain appear:
Look again; the fields are whitening,
For the harvest time is near.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 126:6] Sow In The Morn Thy Seed
Sow in the morn thy seed,
At eve hold not thy hand;
To doubt and fear give thou no heed,
Broadcast it o’er the land.Thou know’st not which may thrive,
The late or early sown;
God keeps His precious seed alive,
When and wherever thrown.And duly shall appear,
In verdure, beauty, strength,
The tender blade, the stalk, the ear,
And the full corn at length.Thou canst not toil in vain;
Cold, heat, and moist, and dry,
Shall foster and mature the grain
For garners in the sky.Thence, when the glorious end,
The day of God is come,
The angels reapers shall descend,
And Heav’n cry, “Harvest Home.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:1] Father Of Men, In Whom Are One
Father of men, in Whom are one
All humankind beneath Thy sun,
Stablish our work in Thee begun.
Except the house be built of Thee,
In vain the builder’s toil must be:
O strengthen our infirmity.Man lives not for himself alone,
In others’ good he finds his own;
Life’s worth in fellowship is known.
We, friends and comrades on life’s way,
Gather within these walls to pray:
Bless Thou our fellowship today.O Christ, our Elder Brother, who
By serving man God’s will didst do,
Help us to serve our brethren, too.
Guide us to seek the things above,
The base to shun, the pure approve,
To live by Thy free law of love.In all our work, in all our play,
Be with us, Lord, our Friend, our Stay;
Lead onward to the perfect day:
Then may we know, earth’s lesson o’er,
With comrades missed or gone before,
Heav’n’s fellowship for evermore.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:1] O Father, All Creating
O Father, all creating,
Whose wisdom, love, and power
First bound two lives together
In Eden’s primal hour,
Today to these Thy children
Thine earliest gifts renew,
A home by Thee made happy,
A love by Thee kept true.O Savior, Guest most bounteous
Of old in Galilee,
Vouchsafe today Thy presence
With these who call on Thee;
Their store of earthly gladness
Transform to heavenly wine,
And teach them, in the tasting,
To know the gift is Thine.O Spirit of the Father,
Breathe on them from above,
So mighty in Thy pureness,
So tender in Thy love;
That, guarded by Thy presence,
From sin and strife kept free,
Their lives may own Thy guidance,
Their hearts be ruled by Thee.Except Thou build it, Father,
The house is built in vain;
Except Thou, Savior, bless it,
The joy will turn to pain;
But naught can break the union
Of hearts in Thee made one;
And love Thy Spirit hallows
Is endless love begun.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:1] Unless The Lord The House Shall Build
Unless the Lord the house shall build,
The weary builders toil in vain;
Unless the Lord the city shield,
The guards a useless watch maintain.In vain you rise ere morning break,
And late your nightly vigils keep,
And of the bread of toil partake;
God gives to His belovèd sleep.Lo, children are a great reward,
A gift from God in very truth;
With arrows is his quiver stored
Who joys in children of his youth.And blest the man whose age is cheered
By stalwart sons and daughters fair;
No enemies by him are feared,
No lack of love, no want of care.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:1] We Cannot Build Alone
We cannot build alone; to rear, great God, to Thee,
A house which Thou wilt own, Thou must the builder be.
Not by our might, but Thy power,
Must dome and tower take upward flight,
Must dome and tower take upward flight.Were all the stones that lie unquarried ’neath the sod
Piled up against the sky, it were not worthy God.
To make this dear, Lord, condescend
Thy head to bend and enter here,
Thy head to bend and enter here.Let faith here rear to God! Here love erect her thrones!
A house for Thine abode be built of lively stones!
We do not err, O Holy Ghost!
Pure hearts Thou dost to fanes prefer,
Pure hearts Thou dost to fanes prefer.The heavenly only stands: Earth briefly typifies
The House not made with hands, eternal in the skies—
We see its towers: how sweet to know,
When hence we go, that House is ours!
When hence we go, that House is ours!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:2] He Giveth His Beloved Sleep
Sorrow and care may meet,
The tempest cloud may low’r,
The surge of sin may beat
Upon earth’s troubled shore;
God doth His own in safety keep,
He giveth His belovèd sleep,
He giveth His belovèd sleep.The din of war may roll,
With all her raging flight,
Grief may oppress the soul,
Throughout the weary nigh;
God doth His own in safety keep,
He giveth His belovèd sleep,
He giveth His belovèd sleep.In childhood’s winsome page,
In manhood’s joyous bloom,
In feebleness and age,
In death’s dark gathering gloom,
God will His own in safety keep,
He giveth His belovèd sleep,
He giveth His belovèd sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:2] Joy And Light
Joy and light, joy and light,
Over the crystal sea;
Come, come, soft and bright,
Over the crystal sea.
Come on your snowy pinions white,
Come in the silent calm of night,
Watch when the pale stars keep,
Bring the troubled one,
Bring the weary one sleep.Love and rest, love and rest,
Carol in silver tone;
Glad songs, pure and blest,
Carol in silver tone.
Come from the fadeless flowers that grow,
Come from the sparkling streams that flow,
Come in the midnight deep,
Bring the troubled one,
Bring the weary one sleep.Voice divine, voice divine,
Speak, and our souls shall hear;
Sweet, sweet words are Thine,
Speak, and our souls shall hear.
Tell of a cloudless region fair,
Tell of the many mansions there,
Speak to the hearts that weep,
Bring the troubled one,
Bring the weary one sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 127:2] Of All The Thoughts Of God
Of all the thoughts of God that are
Borne inward into souls afar,
Along the psalmist’s music deep,
Now tell me if there any is,
For gift or grace surpassing this:
“He giveth His belovèd sleep”?What would we give to our beloved?
The hero’s heart to be unmoved,
The poet’s star tuned harp, to sweep,
The patriot’s voice, to teach and rouse,
The monarch’s crown, to light the brows?
He giveth His belovèd sleep.“Sleep soft, belovèd!” we sometimes say,
Who have no tune to charm away
Sad dreams that through the eyelids creep
But never doleful dream again
Shall break the happy slumber when
He giveth His belovèd sleep.His dews drop mutely on the hill,
His cloud above it saileth still,
Though on its slope men sow and reap;
More softly than the dew is shed,
Or cloud is floated overhead,
He giveth His belovèd sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 128:1] Happy The Man Who Feareth God
Happy the man who feareth God,
Whose feet His holy ways have trod;
Thine own good hand shall nourish thee,
And well and happy shalt thou be.Thy wife shall, like a fruitful vine,
Fill all thy house with clusters fine;
Thy children all be fresh and sound,
Like olive-plants thy table round.Lo! to the man these blessings cleave
Who in God’s holy fear doth live;
From him the ancient curse hath fled
By Adam’s race inherited.Out of Mount Zion God shall send,
And crown with joy thy latter end;
That thou Jerusalem mayst see,
In favor and prosperity.He shall be with thee in thy ways,
And give thee health and length of days;
Yea, thou shalt children’s children see,
And peace on Israel shall be.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 128:1] What Cheering Words Are These!
What cheering words are these!
Their sweetness who can tell?
In time and to eternity,
’Tis with the righteous well;
In time and to eternity,
’Tis with the righteous well.In every state secure,
Kept by Jehovah’s eye,
’Tis well with them while life endures,
And well when called to die;
’Tis well with them while life endures,
And well when called to die.’Tis well when joys arise,
’Tis well when sorrows bow,
’Tis well when darkness veils the skies,
And strong temptations blow;
’Tis well when darkness veils the skies,
And strong temptations blow.’Tis well when on the mount
They feast on dying love,
And ’tis as well in God’s account,
When they the furnace prove;
And ’tis as well in God’s account,
When they the furnace prove.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 128:2] Balm In Secret Prayer
Pray on, pray on, O trusting heart,
Let not thy courage fail;
But take thy Savior at His word,
And know thou shalt prevail.Refrain
Tho’ the cross is hard to bear,
There is balm in secret prayer;
Go and tell thy sorrows there,
And leave it all with Jesus.What tho’ thy prayers thro’ many tears
May reach His throne on high;
He knows the anguish of thy heart,
And will not pass thee by.Refrain
Perhaps in some desponding hour,
When hope has well nigh past,

Whate’er thy trial be;
But lean thy faith on Him Who said,
“It shall be well with thee.”Refrain

Blest the man that fears Jehovah
Walking ever in His ways
By thy toil thou shalt be prospered
And be happy all thy days.

She shall fill thy home with good,
Happy in her loving service
And the joys of motherhood.Joyful children, sons and daughters
Shall about thy table meet;
Olive plants in strength and beauty
Full of hope and promise sweet.
Lo, on him that fears Jehovah
Shall this blessedness attend,
For Jehovah out of Zion
Shall to thee His blessing send.Blest the man that fears Jehovah
Walking ever in His ways.
By thy toil thou shalt be prospered
And be happy all thy days.

[Psa 129:1] Through All The Years, May Israel Say
Through all the years, may Israel say,
My bitter foes have oft assailed,
Have sought my hurt in fierce array,
Yet over me have not prevailed.Though scars of conflict and distress
Remain to tell of trials past,
Jehovah in His righteousness
Has safely brought us through at last.The foes of Zion shall be brought
To hopeless flight and put to shame;
Their wicked plans shall come to naught
And all mankind forget their name.To them no kindly friend shall say,
“God bless you now and speed you well”;
No grateful heart for them shall pray,
“May God’s rich blessing on you dwell.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From Deep Distress And Troubled Thoughts
From deep distress and troubled thoughts
To Thee, my God, I raised my cries;
If Thou severely mark our faults,
No flesh can stand before Thine eyes.But Thou hast built Thy throne of grace
Free to dispense Thy pardons there,
That sinners may approach Thy face,
And hope and love, as well as fear.As the benighted pilgrims wait
And long, and wish for breaking day,
So waits my soul before Thy gate;
When will my God His face display?My trust is fixed upon Thy Word,
Nor shall I trust Thy Word in vain;
Let mourning souls address the Lord
And find relief from all their pain.Great is His love, and large His grace,
Through the redemption of His Son;
He turns our feet from sinful ways,
And pardons what our hands have done.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From Depths Of Woe I Raise To Thee
From depths of woe I raise to Thee
The voice of lamentation;
Lord, turn a gracious ear to me
And hear my supplication;
If Thou iniquities dost mark,
Our secret sins and misdeeds dark,
O who shall stand before Thee?To wash away the crimson stain,
Grace, grace alone availeth;
Our works, alas! are all in vain;
In much the best life faileth:
No man can glory in Thy sight,
All must alike confess Thy might,
And live alone by mercy.Therefore my trust is in the Lord,
And not in mine own merit;
On Him my soul shall rest, His Word
Upholds my fainting spirit:
His promised mercy is my fort,
My comfort, and my sweet support;
I wait for it with patience.What though I wait the livelong night,
And till the dawn appeareth,
My heart still trusteth in His might;
It doubteth not nor feareth:
Do thus, O ye of Israel’s seed,
Ye of the Spirit born indeed;
And wait till God appeareth.Though great our sins and sore our woes,
His grace much more aboundeth;
His helping love no limit knows,
Our utmost need it soundeth.
Our Shepherd good and true is He,
Who will at last His Israel free.
From all their sin and sorrow.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

From out the depths I cry, O Lord, to Thee,
Lord, hear my call.
I love Thee, Lord, for Thou dost heed my plea,
Forgiving all.
If Thou dost mark our sins, who then shall stand?
But grace and mercy dwell at Thy right hand.I wait for God, the Lord, and on His Word
My hope relies;
My soul still waits and looks unto the Lord
Till light arise.
I look for Him to drive away my night,
Yea, more than watchmen look for morning light.Hope in the Lord, ye waiting saints, and He
Will well provide;
For mercy and redemption full and free
With Him abide.
From sin and evil, mighty though they seem,
His arm almighty will His saints redeem.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

From the depths do I invoke Thee,
Lord, to me incline Thine ear;
To my voice be Thou attentive,
And my supplications hear.Lord, if Thou shouldst mark transgressions,
In Thy presence who shall stand?
But with Thee there is forgiveness,
That Thy Name may fear command.For Jehovah I am waiting
And my hope is in His Word;
In His Word of promise given,
Yea, my soul waits for the Lord.For the Lord my soul is waiting
More than watchers in the night;
More than they for morning watching,
Watching for the morning light.Hope in God, ye waiting people,
Mercies great in Him abound;
With the Lord a full redemption
From the guilt of sin is found.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From The Depths My Prayer Ascendeth
From the depths my prayer ascendeth
Unto God on high;
Hear, O Lord, my supplication
And my cry.None can stand unscathed and blameless
In Thy judgment just,
But the contrite in Thy mercy
Humbly trust.Lord, my hope is in Thy promise,
And I wait for Thee
More than they who watch for morning,
Light to see.With the Lord is tender mercy,
And redeeming love;
Israel, look for full salvation
From above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Lord, From The Depths To Thee I Cried
Lord, from the depths to Thee I cried:

Shouldst mark iniquity?
But yet with Thee forgiveness is,
That feared Thou mayest be.I wait for God, my soul doth wait;
My hope is in His Word.
More than they that for morning watch,
My soul waits for the Lord.I say, more than they that do watch
The morning light to see.
Let Israel hope in the Lord,
For with Him mercies be.Redemption also plenteous
Is ever found with Him;

He Israel shall redeem.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of my sickness, into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,

Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
Jesus, I come to Thee.Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the joy and light of Thy throne,

[Psa 130:1] Out Of The Deep I Call
Out of the deep I call,
To Thee, O Lord, to Thee,
Before Thy throne of grace I fall;
Be merciful to me.Out of the deep I cry,
The woeful deep of sin,
Of evil done in days gone by,
Of evil now within.Out of the deep of fear
And dread of coming shame;
All night till morning watch is near
I plead the precious Name.Lord, there is mercy now,
As ever was, with Thee,
Before Thy throne of grace I bow;
Be merciful to me.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Out Of The Deeps Of Long Distress
Out of the deeps of long distress,
The borders of despair,
I sent my cries to seek Thy grace,
My groans to move Thine ear.Great God, should Thy severer eye,
And Thine impartial hand,
Mark and revenge iniquity,
No mortal flesh could stand.But there are pardons with my God
For crimes of high degree;
Thy Son has bought them with His blood,
To draw us near to Thee.I wait for Thy salvation, Lord,
With strong desires I wait;
My soul, invited by Thy Word,
Stands watching at Thy gate.Just as the guards that keep the night
Long for the morning skies,
Watch the first beams of breaking light,
And meet them with their eyes;So waits my soul to see Thy grace,
And, more intent than they,
Meets the first openings of Thy face,
And finds a brighter day.Then in the Lord let Israel trust,
Let Israel seek His face;
The Lord is good as well as just,
And plenteous is His grace.There’s full redemption at His throne
For sinners long enslaved;
The great Redeemer is His Son,
And Israel shall be saved.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Out Of The Depths To Thee I Cry
Out of the depths to Thee I cry,
Whose fainting footsteps trod
The paths of our humanity,
Incarnate Son of God!Thou Man of grief, who once apart
Didst all our sorrows bear,
The trembling hand, the fainting heart
The agony, and prayer!Is this the consecrated dower,
Thy chosen ones obtain,
To know Thy resurrection power
Through fellowship of pain?Then, O my soul, in silence wait;
Faint not, O faltering feet;
Press onward to that blest estate,
In righteousness complete.Let faith transcend the passing hour,
The transient pain and strife,
Upraised by an immortal power,
The power of endless life.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] When In The Hour Of Utmost Need
When in the hour of utmost need
We know not where to look for aid,
When days and nights of anxious thought
Nor help nor counsel yet have brought.Then this our comfort is alone,
That we may meet before Thy throne,
And cry, O faithful God, to Thee
For rescue from our misery.That so with all our hearts we may
Once more our glad thanksgivings pay,
And walk obedient to Thy Word,
And now and ever praise the Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:5] My Rest
Deep and deeper fell the shadows,
Nearer seemed the golden strand,
And my trusting heart was waiting,
Passive in my Savior’s hands;
O how brightly o’er my spirit
Came a radiance from afar,
Like the blush of early morning,
Like the rising of a star.Refrain
I was waiting, calmly waiting,
Not a fear was in my breast;
I had trusted my Redeemer,
And in Him was now my rest.Nearer seemed the shining portals,
But the Master said to me,
“There are sheaves that must be garnered
Ere the reaping dawns for thee;
Yet I know that thou wert weary,
And I bade thy heart repose
By a healing stream that murmurs
Where the Rose of Sharon grows.”Refrain
In the silent hours of midnight,
When my waking thoughts take wings,
O the tranquil peace He gives me,
And the hallowed songs He brings!
He has crowned me with His blessing,
And I now by faith can say,
I am going forth with vigor,
Still rejoicing on my way.Refrain

[Psa 130:5] My Savior, On The Word Of Truth
My Savior, on the word of truth
In earnest hope I live;
I ask for all the precious things
Thy boundless love can give.
I look for many a lesser light
About my path to shine;
But chiefly long to walk with Thee,
And only trust in Thine.In holy expectation held,
Thy strength my heart shall stay,
For Thy right hand will never let
My trust be cast away.
Yea, Thou hast kept me near Thy feet,
In many a deadly strife,
By the stronghold of hope in Thee,
The hope of endless life.Thou knowest that I am not blest
As Thou wouldst have me be,
Till all the peace and joy of faith
Possess my soul in Thee
And still I seek ’mid many fears,
With yearnings unexpressed,
The comforts of Thy strengthening love,
Thy soothing, settling rest.It is not as Thou wilt with me,
Till, humbled in the dust;
I know no place in all my heart
Wherein to put my trust.
Until I find, O Lord, in Thee,
The Lowly and the Meek,
That fullness which Thy own redeemed
Go nowhere else to seek.Then, O my Savior, on my soul,
Cast down, but not dismayed,
Still be Thy chastening, healing hand
In tender, mercy laid.
And while I wait for all Thy joys,
My yearning heart to fill,
Teach me to walk and work with Thee,
And at Thy feet sit still.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 131:1] Is There Ambition In My Heart?
Is there ambition in my heart?
Search, gracious God, and see;
Or do I act a haughty part?
Lord, I appeal to Thee.I charge my thoughts, be humble still,
And all my carriage mild,
Content, my Father, with Thy will,
And quiet as a child.The patient soul, the lowly mind,
Shall have a large reward:
Let saints in sorrow lie resigned,
And trust a faithful Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 131:1] Not Haughty Is My Heart
Not haughty is my heart,
Not lofty is my pride;
I do not seek to know the things
God’s wisdom hath denied.With childlike trust, O Lord,
In Thee I calmly rest,
Contented as a little child
Upon its mother’s breast.Ye people of the Lord,
In Him alone confide;
From this time forth and evermore
His wisdom be your guide.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 131:2] Quiet, Lord My Froward Heart
Quiet, Lord, my froward heart,
Make me teachable and mild,
Upright, simple, free from art,
Make me as a weanèd child:
From distrust and envy free,
Pleased with all that pleases Thee.What Thou shalt today provide,
Let me as a child receive;
What tomorrow may betide,
Calmly to Thy wisdom leave:
’Tis enough that Thou wilt care,
Why should I the burden bear?As a little child relies
On a care beyond his own;
Knows he’s neither strong nor wise,
Fears to stir a step alone:
Let me thus with Thee abide,
As my Father, Guard, and Guide.Thus preserved from Satan’s wiles,
Safe from dangers, free from fears;
May I live upon Thy smiles,
Till the promised hour appears;
When the sons of God shall prove
All their Father’s boundless love.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 132:1] Gracious Lord, Remember David
Gracious Lord, remember David,
How he made Thy house his care,
How he vowed to seek no pleasure
Till Thy house he should prepare.
Lord, remember his devotion;
Restless in his courts he trod
Till he found a habitation
Fit for Israel’s mighty God;
Till he found a habitation
Fit for Israel’s mighty God.Far away God’s ark was resting,
It is with His people now;
We will go into His temple,
At His footstool we will bow.
With the ark, Thy might revealing,
Enter, Lord, into Thy rest;
Let Thy priests be clothed with justice,
Let Thy joyful saints be blest;
Let Thy priests be clothed with justice,
Let Thy joyful saints be blest.Let the king behold Thy favor
For Thy servant David’s sake,
Unto whom a sacred promise,
Sure and faithful, Thou didst make.
If his children keep Thy covenant
And Thy testimony own,
Then, as Thou, O Lord, hast promised,
They shall sit upon the throne;
Then, as Thou, O Lord, hast promised,
They shall sit upon the throne.Thou, the Lord, hast chosen Zion,
Thou hast ever loved her well;
“This My resting place forever,
Here,” Thou say’st, “I choose to dwell.
Surely I will bless and help her,
Feed her poor, her saints make glad,
And her priests shall stand before Me
In salvation’s garments clad;
And her priests shall stand before Me
In salvation’s garments clad.“I will cause the might of David
Ever more and more to grow;
On the path of Mine Anointed
I will make a lamp to glow.
All His enemies shall perish,
I will cover them with shame;
But His crown shall ever flourish;
Blessèd be His holy Name;
But His crown shall ever flourish;
Blessèd be His holy Name.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 132:4] No Sleep Nor Slumber To His Eyes
No sleep nor slumber to his eyes
Good David would afford,
Till He had found below the skies
A dwelling for the Lord.The Lord in Sion placed His Name,
His ark was settled there;
To Sion the whole nation came
To worship thrice a year.But we have no such lengths to go,
Nor wander far abroad;
Where’er Thy saints assemble now,
There is a house for God.Arise, O King of grace, arise
And enter to Thy rest!
Lo! Thy Church waits with longing eyes
Thus to be owned and blest.Enter with all Thy glorious train
Thy Spirit and Thy Word;
All that the ark did once contain
Could no such grace afford.Here, mighty God, accept our vows,
Here let Thy praise be spread;
Bless the provisions of Thy house,
And fill Thy poor with bread.Here let the Son of David reign,
Let God’s Anointed shine;
Justice and truth His court maintain
With love and power divine.Here let Him hold a lasting throne;
And as His kingdom grows,
Fresh honors shall adorn His crown,
And shame confound his foes.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

And enter now into Thy rest;
O let this house be Thine abode,
Forever with Thy presence blest.Thy gracious cov’nant, Lord, fulfill,
Turn not away from us Thy face;
Establish Thou Messiah’s throne
And let Him reign within this place.Thy Zion Thou hast chosen, Lord,
And Thou hast said, I love her well,
This is My constant resting place,
And here will I delight to dwell.I will abundantly provide
For Zion’s good, the Lord hath said;
I will supply her daily need
And satisfy her poor with bread.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Come, shout aloud the Father’s grace,
And sing the Savior’s love;

In loftier strains above.God, the eternal, mighty God,
To dearer names descends;
Calls you His treasure and His joy,
His children and His friends.My Father, God! and may these lips
Pronounce a name so dear?
Not thus could Heaven’s sweet harmony
Delight my listening ear.Thanks to my God for every gift
His bounteous hands bestow;
And thanks eternal for that love
Whence all those comforts flow.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 132:9] Lord, Pour Thy Spirit From On High
Lord, pour Thy Spirit from on high,
And Thine ordainèd servants bless;
Graces and gifts to each supply,
And clothe Thy priests with righteousness.Within Thy temple when they stand,
To teach the truth as taught by Thee,
Savior, like stars in Thy right hand,
Let all Thy Church’s pastors be.Wisdom, and zeal, and faith impart,
Firmness with meekness, from above,
To hear Thy people in their heart,
And love the souls whom Thou dost love.To watch, and pray, and never faint,
By day and night their guard to keep,
To warn the sinner, cheer the saint,
To feed Thy lambs, and tend Thy sheep.So, when their work is finished here,
May they in hope their charge resign;
So, when their Master shall appear,
May they with crowns of glory shine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

All the world from shore to shore;
Every isle His voice shall hear,
And the heathen rage no more.Refrain
He shall mold each stubborn will,
As the potter molds the clay,
Till rebellious hearts are stilled,
And submissive to His sway.Refrain

Haste obedient faith to prove,
Haste with songs to Zion’s King,
Son of God’s eternal love.Refrain

The cups of Hermon’s flowers;

The servants of the Lord.Such love in peace and joy distils,
As o’er the slopes of Hermon’s hills
Refreshing dew descends;
The Lord commands His blessing there,
And they that walk in love shall share

Besieging Thine attentive ear
With all the force of fervent prayer!O may we love the house of God,

O may no angry strife destroy
That sacred peace, that holy joy.The world without may rage, but we
Will only cling more close to Thee,
With hearts to Thee more wholly giv’n,
More weaned from earth, more fixed on Heav’n.Lord, shower upon us from above
The sacred gift of mutual love;
Each other’s wants may we supply,

[Psa 133:1] Spirit Binds Us To Our Lord, The
The Spirit binds us to our Lord
But once in Him we find
Communion sweet, as oil outpoured,
With kindred hearts and minds.Beneath His yoke, our easy tie,
We count as common store
Our gifts and graces—rich supply
For him who needs them more.Such aid is giv’n to those who call
On Christ’s name anywhere:
Their outward need is borne by all,
As much as each can bear.But outward aid alone won’t fill
The storehouse of the saints,
For inward aid is better still
To Christian supplicants.We, by our Faith, are bound to meet
In worship of the Lord,
And flood our Father’s mercy seat
With prayers in one accord.May God’s own Spirit keep us ?til
We meet at heaven’s door
And gifts we shared below then will
Be changed for heav’nly store.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

He nothing feareth, whom Thy presence cheereth,
Light his path cleareth.Be near, relieving all who now are grieving;
Thy visitation be our consolation:

In Heaven and in earth and the sea.His hand guides the clouds in their courses,
The lightning flames forth at His will,
The wind and the rain He releases

Great wonders and signs He displayed;
He smote all the first-born of Egypt,
Till Pharaoh made haste and obeyed.Great nations and kings that opposed Him
Were smitten by God’s mighty hand;
Their riches He gave to His people,
And made them inherit the land.Thy Name shall abide, O Jehovah,

[Psa 135:3] Yes, God Is Good
Yes, God is good; in earth and sky,
From ocean depths and spreading wood,
Ten thousand voices seem to cry,
“God made us all, and God is good.”The sun that keeps his trackless way
And downward pours his golden flood,
Night’s sparkling hosts, all seem to say,
In accents clear, that God is good.The merry birds prolong the strain,
Their song with every spring renewed;
And balmy air, and falling rain,
Each softly whispers, “God is good.”I hear it in the rushing breeze;
The hills that have for ages stood,
The echoing sky and roaring seas,
All swell the chorus, God is good.Yes, God is good, all nature says,
By God’s own hand with speech endued;
And man, in louder notes of praise,
Should sing for joy that God is good.For all Thy gifts we bless Thee, Lord,
But chiefly for our heavenly food;
Thy pardoning grace, Thy quickening word,
These prompt our song, that God is good.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

The King of kings with glory crown:
His mercies ever shall endure,
When lords and kings are known no more.He built the earth, He spread the sky,

Wonders of grace to God belong,

His mercies ever shall endure,
When death and sin shall reign no more.He sent His Son with power to save
From guilt, and darkness, and the grave

Lord of lords, forever and ever,
King of kings forever and ever;
King of kings and Lord of lords!Give thanks to God, for good is He,
Thanks to the God of gods give ye;
Thanks give the Lord of lords unto,
Who only wonders great can do.Refrain
Who thought on us amidst our woes,
And rescued us from all our foes;

Give thanks to Him with heart and mind;
His mercy flows an endless stream,
To all eternity the same.Refrain

Ye agèd men, and children, bring
To God your sacrifice.Refrain

And kind are all His ways;
With songs and honors sounding loud,
The Lord Jehovah praise;
While the rocks and the rills,
While the vales and the hills
A glorious anthem raise;
Let each prolong the grateful song,
And the God of our fathers praise,
And the God of our fathers praise.He bids the sun to rise and set;
In Heav’n His power is known;
And earth, subdued to Him, shall yet
Bow low before His throne.Refrain

His mercy lasts for aye.

Most firm, most firm and sure eternally.The Lord of lords praise ye,
Whose mercies still endure.
Great wonders only He
Doth work by His great pow’r.Refrain

By might and wisdom high,
The Heav’n and firmament
Did frame, as we may see.Refrain
To Him Who did outstretch
This earth so great and wide,
Above the waters’ reach
Making it to abide.Refrain

[Psa 136:1] Praise, O Praise Our God And King
Praise, O praise our God and King;
Hymns of adoration sing;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.Praise Him that He made the sun
Day by day his course to run;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.And the silver moon by night,
Shining with her gentle light;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.Praise Him that He gave the rain
To mature the swelling grain;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.And hath bid the fruitful field
Crops of precious increase yield;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.Praise Him for our harvest store,
He hath filled the garner floor;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.And for richer food than this,
Pledge of everlasting bliss;
For His mercies still endure
Ever faithful, ever sure.Glory to our bounteous King;
Glory let creation sing;
Glory to the Father, Son,
And blest Spirit, Three in One.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 136:16] O Praise Our Great And Gracious Lord
O praise our great and gracious Lord,
And call upon His Name;
To strains of joy tune every chord,
His mighty acts proclaim;
Tell how He led His chosen race
To Canaan’s promised land;
Tell how His covenant of grace
Unchanged shall ever stand.He gave the shadowing cloud by day,
The moving fire by night;
To guide His Israel on their way,
He made their darkness light;
And have we not a sure retreat,
A Savior ever nigh,
The same clear light to guide our feet,
The Dayspring from on high?We, too, have manna from above,
The Bread that came from Heav’n;
To us the same kind hand of love
Hath living waters giv’n;
A Rock have we, from whence the spring
In rich abundance flows;
The Rock is Christ, our Priest, our King,
Who life and health bestows.O may we praise this blessèd Food,
And trust our heavenly Guide;
So shall we find death’s fearful flood
Serene as Jordan’s tide,
And safely reach that happy shore,
The land of peace and rest,
Where angels worship and adore
In God’s own presence blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 137:2] Your Harps, Ye Trembling Saints
Your harps, ye trembling saints,
Down from the willows take;
Loud to the praise of love divine
Bid every string awake.Though in a foreign land
We are not far from home,
And nearer to our house above
We every moment come.His grace will to the end
Stronger and brighter shine;
Nor present things nor things to come
Shall quench the spark divine.When we in darkness walk,
Nor feel the heavenly flame,
Then is the time to trust our God,
And rest upon His Name.Soon shall our doubts and fears
Subside at His control;
His lovingkindness shall break through
The midnight of the soul.Blest is the man, O Lord!
That stays himself on Thee;
Who wait for Thy salvation, Lord!
Shall thy salvation see.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 137:4] Creator Of The World, To Thee
Creator of the world, to Thee
And endless rest of joy belongs;
And heavenly choirs are ever free
To sing on high their festal songs.But we are fallen creatures here,
Where pain and sorrow daily come;
And how can we in exile drear
Sing out, as they, sweet songs of Home?O Father, who dost promise still
That they who mourn shall blessèd be,
Grant us to weep for deeds of ill
That banish us so long from Thee.But weeping, grant us faith to rest
In hope upon Thy loving care;
Till Thou restore us, with the blest,
Their songs of praise in Heav’n to share.To Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
The God Whom Heav’n and earth adore,
From men and from the angel host
Be praise and glory evermore.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 137:5] I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord
I love Thy kingdom, Lord,
The house of Thine abode,
The church our blessed Redeemer saved
With His own precious blood.I love Thy church, O God.
Her walls before Thee stand,
Dear as the apple of Thine eye,
And written on Thy hand.If e’er to bless Thy sons
My voice or hands deny,
These hands let useful skills forsake,
This voice in silence die.Should I with scoffers join
Her altars to abuse?
No! Better far my tongue were dumb,
My hand its skill should lose.For her my tears shall fall
For her my prayers ascend,
To her my cares and toils be given
Till toils and cares shall end.Beyond my highest joy
I prize her heavenly ways,
Her sweet communion, solemn vows,
Her hymns of love and praise.Jesus, Thou Friend divine,
Our Savior and our King,
Thy hand from every snare and foe
Shall great deliverance bring.Sure as Thy truth shall last,
To Zion shall be given
The brightest glories earth can yield
And brighter bliss of Heaven.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 137:5] Far From My Heavenly Home
Far from my heavenly home,
Far from my Father’s breast,
Fainting I cry, blest Spirit, come
And speed me to my rest.Upon the willows long
My harp has silent hung:
How should I sing a cheerful song
Till Thou inspire my tongue?My spirit homeward turns
And fain would thither flee;
My heart, O Zion, droops and yearns,
When I remember thee.To thee, to thee I press,
A dark and toilsome road;
When shall I pass the wilderness,
And reach the saint’s abode?God of my life, be near;
On Thee my hopes I cast:
O guide me through the desert here,
And bring me home at last.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 138:2] To Thy Temple Holy
To Thy temple holy, come we now with praise;
Thou, the meek and lowly, guide us to Thy ways;
To Thy courts ascending, though unworthy we;
Let our worship, blending, swell Thy harmony.Not with ostentation, not with proud acclaim,
Come we, Lord and Master, to extol Thy Name;
But with Christly spirit, humble and sincere,
Pleading but Thy merit, we Thy Name revere.For Thy Holy Spirit earnestly we plead,
Visit us, bestowing grace for all our need,
Sanctify our worship to Thy glory, Lord;
Grant us spirits eager to receive Thy Word.To Thy temple holy, come we now with praise;
Thou, the meek and lowly, guide us to Thy ways;
So shall we, renewing every solemn vow,
Live for larger service if Thou bless us now.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 138:4] With Grateful Heart My Thanks I Bring
With grateful heart my thanks I bring,
Before the great Thy praise I sing;
I worship in Thy holy place
And praise Thee for Thy truth and grace;
For truth and grace together shine
In Thy most holy Word divine,
In Thy most holy Word divine.I cried to Thee and Thou didst save,
Thy Word of grace new courage gave;
The kings of earth shall thank Thee, Lord,
For they have heard Thy wondrous Word;
Yea, they shall come with songs of praise,
For great and glorious are Thy ways,
For great and glorious are Thy ways.O Lord, enthroned in glory bright,
Thou reignest in the heavenly height;
The proud in vain Thy favor seek,
But Thou hast mercy for the meek;
Through trouble though my pathway be,
Thou wilt retrieve and strengthen me,
Thou wilt retrieve and strengthen me.Thou wilt stretch forth Thy mighty arm
To save me when my foes alarm;
The work Thou hast for me begun
Shall by Thy grace be fully done;
Forever mercy dwells with Thee;
O Lord, my Maker, think on me,
O Lord, my Maker, think on me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:1] Lord, All I Am Is Known To Thee
Lord, all I am is known to Thee:
In vain my soul would try
To shun Thy presence, or to flee
The notice of Thine eye.Thy all surrounding sight surveys
My rising and my rest,
My public walks, my private ways,
The secrets of my breast.My thoughts lie open to Thee, Lord,
Before they’re formed within;
And ere my lips pronounce the word,
Thou knowest the sense I mean.O wondrous knowledge! deep and high:
Where can a creature hide?
Within Thy circling arms I lie,
Beset on every side.So let Thy grace surround me still,
And like a bulwark prove,
To guard my soul from every ill,
Secured by sovereign love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:1] Lord, Thou Hast Searched Me
Lord, Thou hast searched me and dost know
Where’er I rest, where’er I go;
Thou knowest all that I have planned,
And all my ways are in Thy hand.My words from Thee I cannot hide,
I feel Thy power on every side;
O wondrous knowledge, awful might,
Unfathomed depth, unmeasured height.Where can I go apart from Thee,
Or whither from Thy presence flee?
In Heav’n? It is Thy dwelling fair;
In death’s abode? Lo, Thou art there.If I the wings of morning take,
And far away my dwelling make,
The hand that leadeth me is Thine,
And my support Thy power divine.If deepest darkness cover me,
The darkness hideth not from Thee;
To Thee both night and day are bright,
The darkness shineth as the light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:1] Thou Knowest, Lord (hawkes)
Thou knowest, Lord, Thou know’st my life’s deep story,
And all the mingled good and ill I do;
Thou seest my shame, my few stray gleams of glory,
Where I am false and where my soul rings true.Lord, I am glad Thou know’st my inmost being,
Glad Thou dost search the secrets of my heart;
I would not hide one folly from Thy seeing,
Nor shun Thy healing touch to save the smart.Like warp and woof the good and ill are blended,
Nor do I see the pattern that I weave;
Yet in Thy love the whole is comprehended,
And in Thy hand my future lot I leave.Only, dear Lord, make plain the path of duty;
Let not my shame and sorrow weigh me down,
Lest in despair I fail to see its beauty,
And weeping vainly, miss the victor’s crown.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:1] O Lord, My Inmost Heart And Thought
O Lord, my inmost heart and thought
Thy searching eye doth see;
Where’er I rest, where’er I go,
My ways are known to Thee.Each spoken word, each silent thought,
Thou, Lord, dost understand;
Before me and behind art Thou,
Restraining by Thy hand.If I the wings of morning take
To some remotest land,
Still I shall be upheld by Thee
And guided by Thy hand.From Thee, O Lord, I cannot hide
Though darkness cover me;
The darkness and the light of day
Are both alike to Thee.Search me, O God, and know my heart,
Try me, my thoughts to know;
O lead me, if in sin I stray,
In paths of life to go.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:1] With Thy Benediction
With Thy benediction falling on our ear,
Pray we now, Most Holy, be Thou ever near;
Near us ’mid the shadows of the coming night;
Near us when the morning breaks in golden light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:1] Lord, Thou Hast Searched And Seen Me Through
Lord, Thou hast searched and seen me through,
Thine eye commands with piercing view
My rising and my resting hours,
My heart and flesh with all their powers.My thoughts, before they are my own,
Are to my God distinctly known;
He knows the words I mean to speak
Ere from my opening lips they break.Within Thy circling power I stand;
On every side I find Thy hand;
Awake, asleep, at home, abroad,
I am surrounded still with God.Amazing knowledge, vast and great!
What large extent! what lofty height!
My soul, with all the powers I boast,
Is in the boundless prospect lost.Could I so false, so faithless prove,
To quit Thy service and Thy love,
Where, Lord, could I Thy presence shun,
Or from Thy dreadful glory run?If up to Heav’n I take my flight,
’Tis there Thou dwell’st enthroned in light
Or dive to hell, there vengeance reigns,
And Satan groans beneath Thy chains.If, mounted on a morning ray,
I fly beyond the western sea,
Thy swifter hand would first arrive,
And there arrest Thy fugitive.Or should I try to shun Thy sight
Beneath the spreading veil of night,
One glance of Thine, one piercing ray,
Would kindle darkness into day.The veil of night is no disguise,
No screen from Thy all-searching eyes;
Thy hand can seize Thy foes as soon
Through midnight shades as blazing noon.Midnight and noon in this agree,
Great God, they’re both alike to Thee;
Not death can hide what God will spy,
And hell lies naked to His eye.O may these thoughts possess my breast,
Where’er I rove, where’er I rest!
Nor let my weaker passions dare
Consent to sin, for God is there.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:2] Thou, Lord, By Strictest Search Hast Known
Thou, Lord, by strictest search hast known
My rising up and lying down;
My secret thoughts are known to Thee,
Known long before conceived by me.Thine eye my bed and path surveys,
My public haunts and private ways,
Thou know’st what ’tis my lips would vent,
My yet unuttered word’s intent.Surrounded by Thy power I stand,
On every side I find Thy hand;
O skill, for human reach too high!
Too dazzling bright for mortal eye!Search, try, O God, my thought and heart,
If mischief lurks in any part;
Correct me where I go astray,
And guide me in Thy perfect way.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:3] Try Us, O God
Try us, O God, and search the ground
Of every sinful heart;
Whate’er of sin in us is found,
O bid it all depart.If to the right or left we stray,
Leave us not comfortless;
But guide our feet into the way
Of everlasting peace.Help us to help each other, Lord,
Each other’s cross to bear;
Let each his friendly aid afford,
And feel his brother’s care.Help us to build each other up,
Our little stock improve;
Increase our faith, confirm our hope,
And perfect us in love.Up unto Thee, our living Head,
Let us in all things grow,
Till Thou hast made us free indeed,
And spotless here below.Then, when the mighty work is wrought,
Receive Thy ready bride:
Give us in Heaven a happy lot
With all the sanctified.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:7] In All My Vast Concerns With Thee
In all my vast concerns with Thee,
In vain my soul would try
To shun Thy presence, Lord, or flee
The notice of Thine eye.Thy all-surrounding sight surveys
My rising and my rest,
My public walks, my private ways,
And secrets of my breast.My thoughts lie open to the Lord
Before they’re formed within;
And ere my lips pronounce the word
He knows the sense I mean.O wondrous knowledge, deep and high!
Where can a creature hide?
Within Thy circling arms I lie,
Beset on every side.So let Thy grace surround me still,
And like a bulwark prove,
To guard my soul from every ill,
Secured by sovereign love.Lord, where shall guilty souls retire,
Forgotten and unknown?
In hell they meet Thy dreadful fire,
In Heav’n Thy glorious throne.Should I suppress my vital breath
To ’scape the wrath divine,
Thy voice would break the bars of death,
And make the grave resign.If winged with beams of morning light
I fly beyond the west,
Thy hand, which must support my flight,
Would soon betray my rest.If o’er my sins I think to draw
The curtains of the night,
Those flaming eyes that guard Thy law
Would turn the shades to light.The beams of moon, the midnight hour,
Are both alike to Thee:
O may I ne’er provoke that power
From which I cannot flee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:8] O Lord, Thy All Discerning Eyes
O Lord, Thy all discerning eyes
My inmost purpose see;
My deeds, my words, my thoughts, arise
Alike disclosed to Thee:
My sitting down, my rising up,
Broad noon, and deepest night,
My path, my pillow, and my cup,
Are open to Thy sight.Before, behind, I meet Thine eye,
And feel Thy heavy hand:
Such knowledge is for me too high,
To reach or understand:
What of Thy wonders can I know?
What of Thy purpose see?
Where from Thy Spirit shall I go?
Where from Thy presence flee?If I ascend to heaven on high,
Or make my bed in hell;
Or take the morning’s wings, and fly
O’er ocean’s bounds to dwell;
Or seek, from Thee, a hiding place
Amid the gloom of night—
Alike to Thee are time and space,
The darkness and the light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:9] Take The Wings Of The Morning
Take the wings of the morning; speed quickly thy flight
To Jesus, thy Savior, thy hope and thy light;
The fount of His mercy is open for thee,
Go wash and be cleaned in its waters so free.Refrain
Take the wings of the morning and fly,
Ere the darkness shall cover the sky;
Fly away from the shadows that over thee roll,
And find in thy Savior the home of thy soul.Fly away to thy Savior, He waits to forgive;
One look of His love, and thy spirit shall live;
Thy faith will secure thee His blessing divine;
Go plead thou His merits, and peace will be thine.Refrain
On the wings of the morning fly home to His breast—
There only thy refuge, there only thy rest;
The moments are precious, the noontide is near;
Fly home to the Savior, oh, linger not here.Refrain

[Psa 139:9] Thou Lord Of Hosts
Thou Lord of hosts, whose guiding hand
Has brought us here before Thy face,
Our spirits wait for Thy command,
Our silent hearts implore Thy peace.Those spirits lay their noblest powers
As offerings on Thy holy shrine.
Thine was the strength that nourished ours;
The soldiers of the cross are Thine.While watching on our arms at night
We saw Thine angels around us move.
We heard Thy call, we felt Thy light,
And followed, trusting, to Thy love.Send us wherever Thou wilt, O Lord!
Through rugged toil and wearying fight.
Thy conquering love shall be our sword,
And faith in Thee our truest might.Send down Thy constant aid, we pray.
Be Thy pure angels with us still.
Thy truth, be that our firmest stay;
Our only rest, to do Thy will.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:10] Great God, We Sing Your Mighty Hand
Great God, we sing Your mighty hand
By which supported still we stand;
The opening year Your mercy shows,
That mercy crowns it ’til its close.By day, by night, at home, abroad,
Still are we guarded by our God,
By His incessant bounty fed,
By His unerring counsel led.With grateful hearts the past we own;
The future, all to us unknown,
We to Thy guardian care commit,
And peaceful leave before Thy feet.In scenes exalted or depressed,
You are our joy, and You our rest;
Your goodness all our hopes shall raise,
Adored through all our changing days.When death shall interrupt our songs
And seal in silence mortal tongues,
In fairer realms, O God, shall we
Your praises sing eternally.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:11] Round Me Falls The Night
Round me falls the night; Savior, be my Light:
Through the hours in darkness shrouded
Let me see Thy face unclouded;
Let Thy glory shine in this heart of mine.Earthly work is done, earthly sounds are none;
Rest in sleep and silence seeking,
Let my hear Thee softly speaking;
In my spirit’s ear whisper “I am near.”Darkened now each ray o’er the traveler’s way;
Let me know that Thou hast found me,
Let me feel Thine arms around me,
Sure from every ill Thou wilt guard me still.Blessèd heavenly Light, shining through earth’s night;
Voice, that oft of love hast told me;
Arms, so strong to clasp and hold me;
Thou Thy watch wilt keep, Savior, o’er my sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:12] God Is Always Near Me
God is always near me,
Hearing what I say;
Knowing all my thoughts and deeds,
All my work and play.God is always near me,
In the darkest night,
He can see me just the same
As by midday light.God is always near me,
Though so young and small;
Not a look, or word, or thought,
But God knows it all.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:12] O Thou To Whose All Searching Sight
O Thou to Whose all searching sight
The darkness shineth as the light,
Search, prove my heart; it pants for Thee;
O burst these bonds, and set it free!Wash out its stains, refine its dross,
Nail my affections to the cross;
Hallow each thought; let all within
Be clean, as Thou, my Lord, art clean!If in this darksome wild I stray,
Be Thou my light, be Thou my way;
No foes, no violence I fear,
No fraud, while thou, my God, art near.When rising floods my soul o’erflow,
When sinks my heart in waves of woe,
Jesu, Thy timely aid impart,
And raise my head, and cheer my heart.Savior, where’er Thy steps I see,
Dauntless, untired, I follow thee!
O let Thy hand support me still,
And lead me to Thy holy hill!If rough and thorny be the way,
My strength proportion to my day;
Till toil, and grief, and pain shall cease,
Where all is calm, and joy, and peace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:12] Peacefully Round Us The Shadows Are Falling
Peacefully round us the shadows are falling,
Glad be our praises and trustful our prayer;
Hear us, O Lord, on Thy providence calling,
Lighten our darkness, and banish our care.Hushed are the sheep bells afar on the moorland,
O’er the still meadows the night breezes sweep,
Faint fall the footsteps in city and hamlet,
Safely the children are folded in sleep.Softly may weary ones rest from their duty,
Bright be the dreams of the troubled and worn,
While through the shades beam the stars in their beauty,
Watching the world till the breaking of morn.Lord of the night, let Thine angels defend us;
Sunshine and gloom are alike unto Thee;
Lord of the day, let Thy Spirit attend us,
Bless us and keep us wherever we be.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:13] O Lord, Life Is Sacred
O Lord, life is sacred, a gift from above;
Each person is worthy of honor and love.
Your works are so marvelous, we’re wonderfully made;
We each bear Your image, conception to grave.Your hands shaped and formed us before we took breath;
You knit us together and clothed us with flesh.
You give us our life and ordain all our days;
Your works, Lord, are wonderful; we lift our hearts in praise.Upheld since conception and carried since birth,
To old age and hair of gray, we’re still of great worth.
We still bear Your likeness, the stamp of Your hand;
You made us in Jesus for all the works you planned.And so, may we honor each person we meet;
The kindness You’ve shown us, we wish to repeat
From children to agèd—we’ll serve them in Your Name;
As You honor us, O Lord, we pledge to do the same.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:14] All That I Am I Owe To Thee
All that I am I owe to Thee,
Thy wisdom, Lord, has fashioned me;
I give my Maker thankful praise,
Whose wondrous works my soul amaze.Ere into being I was brought,
Thine eye did see, and in Thy thought
My life in all its perfect plan
Was ordered ere my days began.Thy thoughts, O God, how manifold,
More precious unto me than gold!
I muse on their infinity,
Awaking I am still with Thee.The wicked Thou shalt surely slay,
From me let sinners turn away;
They speak against the Name divine,
I count God’s enemies as mine.Search me, O God, my heart discern,
Try me, my inmost thought to learn;
And lead me, if in sin I stray,
To choose the everlasting way.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:14] My God, How Wonderful You Are
My God, how wonderful Thou art,
Thy majesty, how bright;
How beautiful Thy mercy seat
In depths of burning light!How dread are Thy eternal years,
O everlasting Lord,
By prostrate spirits day and night
Incessantly adored!How wonderful, how beautiful,
The sight of Thee must be;
Thy endless wisdom, boundless power,
And glorious purity!O how I fear Thee, living God,
With deep and tender fear;
And worship Thee with trembling hope,
And penitential tears!Yet, I may love Thee, too, O Lord,
Almighty as Thou art;
For Thou hast stooped to ask of me
The love of my poor heart!No earthly father loves like Thee,
No mother, e’er so mild,
Bears and forbears as Thou hast done,
With me, Thy sinful child.Only to sit and think of God,
Oh, what a joy it is!
To think the thought, to breathe the Name,
Earth has no higher bliss.Father of Jesus, love’s Reward!
What rapture it will be
Prostrate before Thy throne to lie,
And gaze, and gaze on Thee!source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:15] Song Of Life
Not in darkness nor in mystery,
No depth of heart or mind,
Nowhere in heav’n or earth or hell
Can I run and Thou not find;
Transcendent thoughts too deep for me
Surround on every side.
Thy mighty wisdom, O my God,
Moves ocean, wind and tide.With skillful and with hidden hand
Thou workest in the womb,
And there, in dark and tiny space,
Makest unseen life to bloom.
Fashioned fearfully and wonderf’ly,
Thy knowledge to display,
Thine image bearer grows in night
Which is to Thee as day.How I love Thy wisdom and Thy thoughts
Unnumbered as the sands.
I joy that all my earthly trials
Are written by Thy hands.
And I trust that strong benevolence
That never leaves my side—
Thy holy, gracious presence is
My treasure and my guide.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:18] Still, Still With Thee
Still, still with Thee, when purple morning breaketh,
When the bird waketh, and the shadows flee;
Fairer than morning, lovelier than daylight,
Dawns the sweet consciousness, I am with Thee.Alone with Thee, amid the mystic shadows,
The solemn hush of nature newly born;
Alone with Thee in breathless adoration,
In the calm dew and freshness of the morn.As in the dawning o’er the waveless ocean
The image of the morning star doth rest,
So in the stillness Thou beholdest only
Thine image in the waters of my breast.Still, still with Thee, as to each newborn morning,
A fresh and solemn splendor still is given,
So does this blessèd consciousness, awaking,
Breathe each day nearness unto Thee and Heaven.When sinks the soul, subdued by toil, to slumber,
Its closing eye looks up to Thee in prayer;
Sweet the repose beneath the wings o’ershading,
But sweeter still to wake and find Thee there.So shall it be at last, in that bright morning,
When the soul waketh and life’s shadows flee;
O in that hour, fairer than daylight dawning,
Shall rise the glorious thought, I am with Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:18] When I Awake From Slumber
When I awake from slumber
To greet the golden day,
Then teach me, Lord, to number
Its hours in wisdom’s way.When clouds at dawn are gleaming,
Lift up mine answering eyes
To where Thy light is streaming
On faith’s high enterprise.While all the heights are calling
And skies are blithe and blue,
Keep Thou my feet from falling,
My heart’s ambitions true.Let simple pleasures cheer me
When every goal seems far;
Reveal Thyself as near me
As life and duty are.And when the light is fading,
If dreams have not come true,
Yet breathe Thy peace pervading
The twilight through and through.When life’s long day is ended
And shadows closer creep,
Lord, let me feel befriended
Before I go to sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:23] Blest Jesus, When My Soaring Thoughts
Blest Jesus, when my soaring thoughts
O’er all Thy graces rove,
O’er all Thy graces rove,
How is my soul in transport lost—
How is my soul in transport lost—
In wonder, joy and love.Not softest strains can charm mine ears
Like Thy belovèd Name,
Like Thy belovèd Name!
Nor aught beneath the skies inspire,
Nor aught beneath the skies inspire,
My heart with equal flame.Where’er I look, my wondering eyes
Unnumbered blessings see!
Unnumbered blessings see!
But what is life with all its bliss!
But what is life with all its bliss!
If once compared to Thee!Hast Thou a rival in my breast?
Search, Lord, for Thou canst tell,
Search, Lord, for Thou canst tell,
If aught can raise my passions thus,
If aught can raise my passions thus,
Or please my soul so well.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:23] Do Not I Love Thee, O My Lord?
Do not I love Thee, O my Lord?
Behold my heart and see;
And turn each cursèd idol out,
That dares to rival Thee.Do not I love Thee, O my Lord?
Then let me nothing love;
Dead be my heart to every joy,
When Jesus cannot move.Is not Thy Name melodious still
To mine attentive ear?
Doth not each pulse with pleasure bound
My Savior’s voice to hear?Hast Thou a lamb in all Thy flock
I would disdain to feed?
Hast Thou a foe, before whose face
I fear Thy cause to plead?Would not mine ardent spirit vie
With angels round the throne,
To execute Thy sacred will,
And make Thy glory known?Would not my heart pour forth its blood
In honor of Thy Name?
And challenge the cold hand of death
To damp th’immortal flame?Thou know’st I love Thee, dearest Lord,
But O, I long to soar
Far from the sphere of mortal joys,
And learn to love Thee more!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:23] Search Me, O God (orr)
Search me, O God,
And know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior,
Know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be
Some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin
And set me free.I praise Thee, Lord,
For cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word,
And make me pure within.
Fill me with fire
Where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire
To magnify Thy Name.Lord, take my life,
And make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart
With Thy great love divine.
Take all my will,
My passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord
In me abide.O Holy Ghost,
Revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival,
Start the work in me.
Thy Word declares
Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now,
O Lord, I humbly plead.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:23] Search Me, O God (simpson)
Search me, O God, search me and know my heart;
Try me and prove me in the hidden part;
Cleanse me and make me holy, as Thou art,
And lead me in the way everlasting.Refrain
Lead me, lead me, lead me in the way everlasting;
Keep me from the things that wither and decay;
Give to me the things that cannot pass away,
And lead me in the way everlasting.Thou art the same today and yesterday;
Oh, make Thy life in me the same alway;
Take from my heart the things that pass away;
Lead, lead me in the way everlasting.Refrain
Take my poor heart and only let me love
The things that always shall abiding prove;
Bind all my heartstrings to the world above,
And lead me in the way everlasting.Refrain
Help me to lay my treasures up on high;
Teach me to seek my future in the sky;
Give me my portion yonder by and by,
And lead me in the way everlasting.Refrain
Oh, let my work abide the testing day
That shall consume the stubble and the hay;
Oh, build my house upon the rock, I pray,
And lead me in the way everlasting.Refrain

[Psa 139:23] Search Me, O Lord
Search me, O Lord, and try this heart of mine,
Search me, and prove if I indeed am Thine.
Test by Thy Word, that never changed can be,
My strength of hope and living faith in Thee.Search me, O Lord, subdue each vain desire,
And in my soul a deeper love inspire.
Hide Thou my life, that I, supremely blest,
Beneath Thy wings in perfect peace may rest.Search me, O Lord, and from the dross of sin,
Refine as gold, and keep me pure within,
Search Thou my thoughts whose springs Thine eyes can see;
From secret faults, O Savior, cleanse Thou me.Search me, O Lord, let faith through grace divine
Thyself reflect in every act of mine,
Till at Thy call my waiting soul shall rise,
Caught up with joy, to meet Thee whom I prize.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:23] Searcher Of Hearts, From Mine Erase
Searcher of hearts, from mine erase
All thoughts that should not be,
And in its deep recesses trace
My gratitude to Thee.Hearer of prayer, O guide aright
Each word and deed of mine;
Life’s battle teach me how to fight,
And be the vict’ry Thine.Giver of all—for ev’ry good
In the Redeemer came—
For raiment, shelter, and for food,
I thank Thee in His Name.Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost,
Thou glorious Three in One,
Thou knowest best what I need most,
And let Thy will be done.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 139:24] Father, Lead Me Day By Day
Father, lead me day by day,
Ever in Thine own sweet way;
Teach me to be pure and true;
Show me what I ought to do.When in danger, make me brave,
Make me know that Thou canst save;
Keep me safe by Thy dear side;
Let me in Thy love abide.When I’m tempted to do wrong,
Make me steadfast, wise and strong;
And when all alone I stand,
Shield me with Thy mighty hand.When my heart is full of glee,
Help me to remember Thee,
Happy most of all to know
That my Father loves me so.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 140:1] Deliver Me From Evil
Deliver me from evil, preserve me, Lord, from wrong;
Against the foes that gather be Thou my Helper strong;
From those who plot to hurt me and spread the treacherous snare,
Preserve me, Lord, and keep me safeguarded in Thy care.O Lord, I have confessed Thee to be my God alone;
O hear my supplication, and be Thy mercy shown;
O God the Lord, my Savior, my Shield amid the strife,
Let not the wicked triumph who plot against my life.Let evil smite the evil, and cause their overthrow;
The needy and afflicted the Lord will help, I know;
Thy saints, redeemed from evil, their thanks to Thee shall give;
The righteous and the upright shall in Thy presence live.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 140:1] Lord, From The Ill And Froward Man
Lord, from the ill and froward man
Give me deliverance,
And do Thou safe preserve me from
The man of violence:Who in their heart mischievous things
Are meditating e’er;
And they for war assembled are
Continually together.Much like unto a serpent’s tongue
Their tongues they sharp do make;
And underneath their lips there lies
The poison of a snake.Lord, keep me from the wicked’s hands,
From violent men me save;
Who utterly to overthrow
My goings purposed have.The proud for me a snare have hid,
And cords; yea, they a net
Have by the wayside for me spread;
They gins for me have set.I said unto the Lord, Thou art
My God: unto the cry
Of all my supplications,
Lord, do Thine ear apply.O God the Lord, who art the strength
Of my salvation:
A cov’ring in the day of war
My head Thou hast put on.Unto the wicked man, O Lord,
His wishes do not grant;
Nor further Thou his ill device,
Lest they themselves should vaunt.As for the head and chief of those
About that compass me,
E’en by the mischief of their lips
Let Thou them covered be.Let burning coals upon them fall,
Them throw in fiery flame,
And in deep pits, that they no more
May rise out of the same.Let not an evil speaker be
On earth establishèd:
Mischief shall hunt the violent man,
Till he be ruinèd.I know God will th’afflicted’s cause
Maintain, and poor men’s right.
Surely the just shall praise Thy Name;
Th’upright dwell in Thy sight.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 141:1] O Kind Creator, Bow Thine Ear
O kind Creator, bend Thine ear
To mark the cry, to know the tear
Before Thy throne of mercy spent
In this Thy holy fast of Lent.Our hearts are open, Lord, to Thee;
Thou knowest our infirmity;
Pour out on all who seek Thy face
Abundance of Thy pardoning grace.Our sins are many, this we know;
Spare us, good Lord, Thy mercy show;
And for the honor of Thy Name
Our fainting souls to life reclaim.Give us the self control that springs
From discipline of outward things,
That fasting inward secretly
The soul may purely dwell with Thee.We pray Thee, Holy Trinity,
One God, unchanging Unity,
That we from this our abstinence
May reap the fruits of penitence.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 141:1] O Lord, Make Haste To Hear My Cry
O Lord, make haste to hear my cry,
To Thee I call, on Thee rely.
Incline to me a gracious ear,
And, when I call, in mercy hear.When in the morning unto Thee
I lift my voice and bring my plea,
Then let my prayer as incense rise
To God enthroned above the skies.When unto Thee I look and pray
With lifted hands at close of day,
Then as the evening sacrifice
Let my request accepted rise.Guard Thou my thoughts, I Thee implore,
And of my lips keep Thou the door;
Nor leave my sinful heart to stray
Where evil footsteps lead the way.O righteous God, Thy chastisement,
Though sent through foes, in love is sent;
Though grievous, it will profit me,
A healing ointment it shall be.While wickedness my foes devise,
To Thee my constant prayer shall rise,
When their injustice is o’erthrown,
My gentleness shall still be shown.Brought nigh to death and sore distressed,
O Lord, my God, in Thee I rest;
Forsake me not, I look to Thee,
Let me Thy great salvation see.Themselves entangled in their snare,
Their own defeat my foes prepare,
O keep me, Lord, nor let me fall,
Protect and lead me safe through all.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 141:1] O Merciful Creator, Hear
O merciful Creator, hear;
In tender pity bow Thine ear:
Accept the tearful prayer we raise
In this our fast of forty days.Each heart is manifest to Thee;
Thou knowest our infirmity:
Repentant now we seek Thy face;
Impart to us Thy pardoning grace.Our sins are manifold and sore,
But spare Thou them who sin deplore;
And for Thine own Name’s sake make whole
The fainting and the weary soul.Grant us to mortify each sense
By means of outward abstinence,
That so from every stain of sin
The soul may keep her fast within.Blest Three in One, and One in Three
Almighty God, we pray to Thee,
That Thou wouldst now vouchsafe to bless
Our fast with fruits of righteousness.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 141:2] Holy Air Is Breathing Round, A
A holy air is breathing round,
A fragrance from above;
Be every soul from sense unbound,
Be every spirit love.O God, unite us heart to heart,
In sympathy divine,
That we be never drawn apart,
To love not Thee nor Thine.But by the cross of Jesus taught,
And all His gracious word,
Be nearer to each other brought,
And nearer Thee, O Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 141:2] Lord, In Thy Sight, O Let My Prayer
Lord, in Thy sight, O let my prayer
Like morning incense rise;
My lifted hands accepted be
An evening sacrifice.From hasty language curb my tongue,
And let a constant guard
Still keep the portal of my lips
With wary silence barred.From wicked men’s designs and deeds
My heart and hands restrain;
Nor let me share their evil works,
Or their unrighteous gain.Let upright men reprove my faults,
And I shall think them kind;
Like healing oil upon my head
I their reproof shall find.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 141:2] Precious Moments
O the precious, precious moments
That we spend before the throne,
And to Jesus, our Redeemer,
Make our wants and wishes known.Refrain
O the peace that like a river
From the mount of blessing flows;
How it calms the weary spirit
To a gentle, soft repose!O the precious, precious moments,
When a loving voice we hear,
In a whisper, low and tender,
Breathing words of happy cheer.Refrain
O the precious, precious moments,
When the eye of faith shall see
Visions of eternal glory,
Endless raptures yet to be.Refrain
There’s a balm for every trial,
And a rest from every care,
There’s a joy for every sorrow,
At the golden gate of prayer.Refrain

[Psa 142:1] To God My Earnest Voice I Raise
To God my earnest voice I raise,
To God my voice imploring prays;
Before His face my grief I show
And tell my trouble and my woe.When gloom and sorrow compass me,
The path I take is known to Thee,
And all the toils that foes do lay
To snare Thy servant in his way.All unprotected, lo, I stand,
No friendly guardian at my hand,
No place of flight or refuge near,
And none to whom my soul is dear.O Lord, my Savior, now to Thee,
Without a hope besides, I flee,
To Thee, my shelter from the strife,
My portion in the land of life.Be Thou my help when troubles throng,
For I am weak and foes are strong;
My captive soul from prison bring,
And thankful praises I will sing.The righteous then shall gather round
To share the blessing I have found,
Their hearts made glad because they see
How richly God has dealt with me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:1] Hear And Answer Prayer
I am praying, blessèd Savior,
To be more and more like Thee;
I am praying that Thy Spirit
Like a dove may rest on me.Refrain
Thou Who knowest all my weakness,
Thou Who knowest all my care,
While I plead each precious promise,
Hear, oh, hear and answer prayer.I am praying, blessèd Savior,
For a faith so clear and bright
That its eye will see Thy glory
Through the deepest, darkest night.Refrain
I am praying to be humbled
By the power of grace divine,
To be clothed upon with meekness,
And to have no will but Thine.Refrain
I am praying, blessèd Savior,
And my constant prayer shall be
For a perfect consecration,
That shall make me more like Thee.Refrain

[Psa 143:1] Lord, Hear Me In Distress
Lord, hear me in distress, regard my suppliant cry,
And in Thy faithfulness and righteousness reply.
In judgment do not cause Thy servant to be tried;
Before Thy holy laws no man is justified.The enemy has sought my soul in dust to tread;
To darkness I am brought, forgotten as the dead.
My spirit, crushed with grief, is sad and overborne;
My heart finds no relief, but desolate I mourn.Recalling former days and all Thy wondrous deeds,
The memory of Thy ways to hope and comfort leads.
To Thee I stretch my hands, let me not plead in vain;
I wait as weary lands wait for refreshing rain.My failing spirit see, O Lord to me make haste;
Hide not Thy face from me, less bitter death I taste.
O let the morn return, let mercy light my day;
For Thee in faith I yearn, O guide me in the way.Lord, save me from my foe, to Thee for help I flee;
Teach me Thy way to know, I have no God but Thee.
By Thy good Spirit led from trouble and distress,
My erring feet shall tread the path of uprightness.O Lord, for Thy Name’s sake revive my fainting heart;
My soul from trouble take, for just and true Thou art.
Remove mine enemy, my cruel foes reward;
In mercy rescue me who am Thy servant, Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:1] Unanswered Yet
Unanswered yet?
The prayers your lips have pleaded
In agony of heart these many years?
Does faith begin to fail, is hope departing,
And think you all in vain those falling tears?
Say not the Father hath not heard your prayer:
You shall have your desire, sometime, somewhere,
You shall have your desire, sometime, somewhere.Unanswered yet?
Though when you first presented
This one petition at the Father’s throne,
It seemed you could not wait the time of asking,
So urgent was your heart to make it known.
Though years have passed since then, do not despair;
The Lord will answer you, sometime, somewhere,
The Lord will answer you, sometime, somewhere.Unanswered yet?
Nay, do not say ungranted;
Perhaps your part is not yet wholly done;
The work began when first your prayer was uttered,
And God will finish what He has begun.
If you will keep the incense burning there,
His glory you shall see, sometime somewhere,
His glory you shall see, sometime somewhere.Unanswered yet?
Faith cannot be unanswered;
Her feet were firmly planted on the Rock;
Amid the wildest storm prayer stands undaunted,
Nor quail before the loudest thunder shock.
She knows Omnipotence has heard her prayer,
And cries, “It shall be done,” sometime, somewhere,
And cries, “It shall be done,” sometime, somewhere.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:2] O Lord, Turn Not Thy Face From Me
O Lord, turn not Thy face from me,
Who lie in woeful state,
Lamenting all my sinful life
Before Thy mercy-gate.A gate which opens wide to those
That do lament their sin;
Shut not that gate against me, Lord,
But let me enter in.And call me not to strict account
How I have sojourned here;
For then my guilty conscience knows
How vile I shall appear.So come I to Thy mercy gate,
Where mercy doth abound,
Requiring mercy for my sin
To heal my deadly wound.Mercy, good Lord, mercy I ask;
This is my humble prayer;
For mercy, Lord is all my suit,
O let Thy mercy spare.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:2] That Fearful Day
That fearful day, that day of speechless dread,
When Thou shalt come to judge the quick and dead—
I shudder to foresee,
O God! what then shall be!When Thou shalt come, angelic legions round,
With thousand thousands, and with trumpet sound,
Christ, grant me in the air
With saints to meet Thee there!Weep, O my soul, ere that great hour and day,
When God shall shine in manifest array,
Thy sin, that thou may’st be
In that strict judgment free!The terror! Hell-fire fierce and unsufficed:
The bitter worm: the gnashing teeth—O Christ,
Forgive, remit, protect;
And set me with the elect!That I may hear the blessèd voice that calls
The righteous to the joy of heavenly halls.
And, King of Heaven, may reach
The realm that passeth speech!
Enter Thou not in judgment with each deed,
Nor each intent and thought in strictness read:
Forgive, and save me then,
O Thou That lovest men!Thee, One in Three blest Persons! Lord o’er all!
Essence of essence, Power of power we call:
Save us, O Father, Son,
And Spirit, ever one!Play source: Cyberhymnal -

When morning lights the eastern skies,
O Lord, Thy mercy show;
On Thee alone my hope relies,
Let me Thy kindness know.Teach me the way that I should go;
I lift my soul to Thee;
For refuge from my cruel foe
To Thee, O Lord, I flee.Thou art my God, to Thee I pray;

[Psa 143:9] Hiding In Thee
O safe to the Rock that is higher than I,
My soul in its conflicts and sorrows would fly;
So sinful, so weary, Thine, Thine, would I be;
Thou blest “Rock of Ages,” I’m hiding in Thee.Refrain
Hiding in Thee, hiding in Thee,
Thou blest “Rock of Ages,”
I’m hiding in Thee.In the calm of the noontide, in sorrow’s lone hour,
In times when temptation casts o’er me its power;
In the tempests of life, on its wide, heaving sea,
Thou blest “Rock of Ages,” I’m hiding in Thee.Refrain
How oft in the conflict, when pressed by the foe,
I have fled to my refuge and breathed out my woe;
How often, when trials like sea billows roll,
Have I hidden in Thee, O Thou Rock of my soul.Refrain

[Psa 143:9] Lord, As To Thy Dear Cross We Flee
Lord, as to Thy dear cross we flee,
And plead to be forgiven,
So let Thy life our pattern be,
And form our souls for heaven.Help us through good report and ill
Our daily cross to bear,
Like Thee to do our Father’s will,
Our brethren’s grief to share.Let grace our selfishness expel,
Our earthliness refine,
And kindness in our being dwell,
As free and true as Thine.If joy shall at Thy bidding fly,
And grief’s dark day come on,
We in our turn would meekly cry,
“Father, Thy will be done.”Should friends misjudge, or foes defame,
Or brethren faithless prove,
Then, like Thine own, be all our aim
To conquer them by love.Kept peaceful in the midst of strife,
Forgiving and forgiven,
O may we lead the pilgrim’s life
And follow Thee to Heaven.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

What foes and snares surround me,
What lusts and fears within!
The grace that sought and found me
Alone can keep me clean.’Tis only in Thee hiding
I feel myself secure;
Only in Thee abiding,
The conflict can endure.
Thine arm the victory gaineth
O’er every hateful foe;
Thy love my heart sustaineth
In all its cares and woe.Soon shall my eyes behold Thee

Lighting up the wood,
Silently proclaiming,
“God is ever good,
Ever good.”Hear the mountain streamlet
In its solitude,
With its ripple saying,
“God is ever good,
Ever good.”He Who came to save us
Shed His precious blood;
Better things it speaketh:
“God is ever good,
Ever good.”Bring, my heart, thy tribute,
Songs of gratitude;
All things join to tell us,
“God is ever good,
Ever good.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Sweet will of God, still fold me closer;
Till I am wholly lost in Thee;
Sweet will of God, still fold me closer,

[Psa 143:10] Within The Maddening Maze Of Things
Within the maddening maze of things,
When tossed by storm and flood,
To one fixed trust my spirit clings;
I know that God is good!No offering of my own I have,
Nor works my faith to prove;
I can but give the gifts He gave,
And plead His love for love.I know not where His islands lift
Their fronded palms in air;
I only know I cannot drift
Beyond His love and care.And so beside the silent sea
I wait the muffled oar;
No harm from Him can come to me
On ocean or on shore.I know not what the future hath
Of marvel or surprise,
Assured alone that life and death
His mercy underlies.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 144:1] O God, The Strength Of Those Who War
O God, the Strength of those who war,
The Hope of those who wait,
Be with our sons gone forth to fight,
And those who keep the gate.Give to our hosts in battle’s hour
Firm hearts and courage high,
Thy comfort give to those who fall,
Thy peace to those who die.Breathe on our land the spirit calm
Which faith in right bestows,
And in the hours of dark suspense
A faith which stronger grows.In Thee alone we place our hope,
Thou Keeper of the just,
And Thou, through fight and fire and fears
Wilt justify our trust.Thy ways are wonderful, O God,
Who makest wars to cease:
O let this be the final war
That ushers in Thy peace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 144:3] Now Praise We Great And Famous Men
Now praise we great and famous men,
The fathers named in story;
And praise the Lord, who now as then
Reveals in man His glory.Praise we the wise and brave and strong,
Who graced their generation,
Who helped the right, and fought the wrong,
And made our folk a nation.Praise we the great of heart and mind,
The singers sweetly gifted,
Whose music like a mighty wind
The souls of men uplifted.Praise we the peaceful men of skill,
Who builded homes of beauty,
And, rich in art, made richer still
The brotherhood of duty.Praise we the glorious names we know,
And they whose names have perished,
Lost, in the haze of long ago,
In silent love be cherished.In peace their sacred ashes rest,
Fulfilled their day’s endeavor;
They blessed the earth, and they are blessed
Of God and man forever.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 144:9] To Thee, Eternal Soul, Be Praise!
To Thee, Eternal Soul, be praise!
Who, from of old to our own days,
Through souls of saints and prophets, Lord,
Hast sent Thy light, Thy love, Thy Word.We thank Thee for each mighty one
Through whom Thy living light hath shone;
And for each humble soul and sweet
That lights to heaven our wandering feet.We thank Thee for the love divine
Made real in every saint of Thine;
That boundless love itself that gives
In service to each soul that lives.We thank Thee for the Word of might
Thy Spirit spake in darkest night.
Spake through the trumpet voices loud
Of prophets at Thy throne who bowed.Eternal Soul, our souls keep pure,
That like Thy saints we may endure;
Forever through Thy servants, Lord,
Send Thou Thy light, Thy love, Thy Word.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 144:12] Lord, While For All Mankind We Pray
Lord, while for all mankind we pray,
Of every clime and coast,
O hear us for our native land,
The land we love the most.O guard our shores from every foe;
With peace our borders bless;
With prosperous times our cities crown,
Our fields with plenteousness.Unite us in the sacred love
Of knowledge, truth, and Thee;
And let our hills and valleys shout
The songs of liberty.Lord of the nations, thus to Thee
Our country we commend;

Her everlasting Friend.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

O people blest, whose sons in youth,
In sturdy strength and noble truth,

Are like the cornerstones that grace
The palace of a king,
The palace of a king.O people blest, when flock and field
Their rich, abundant increase yield,
And blessings multiply;
When plenty all thy children share,
And no invading foe is there,
And no distressful cry,
And no distressful cry.O happy people, favored land,
To whom the Lord with liberal hand
Has thus His goodness shown;
Yea, surely is that people blest
By whom Jehovah is confessed
To be their God alone,
To be their God alone.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Before the Lord we bow, the God Who reigns above,
And rules the world below, boundless in power and love.
Our thanks we bring in joy and praise, our hearts we raise
To Heaven’s high King.The nation Thou hast blest may well Thy love declare,
From foes and fears at rest, protected by Thy care.
For this fair land, for this bright day, our thanks we pay,
Gifts of Thy hand.May every mountain height, each vale and forest green,
Shine in Thy Word’s pure light, and its rich fruits be seen!
May every tongue be tuned to praise, and join to raise
A grateful song.Earth, hear thy Maker’s voice, thy great Redeemer own;
Believe, obey, rejoice, and worship Him alone.
Cast down thy pride, thy sin deplore and bow before
The Crucified.And when in power He comes, O may our native land,
From all its rending tombs, send forth a glorious band.
A countless throng, ever to sing to Heaven’s high King
Salvation’s song.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] God, My King, Thy Might Confessing
God, my King, Thy might confessing,
Ever will I bless Thy Name;
Day by day Thy throne addressing,
Still will I Thy praise proclaim.Honor great our God befitteth;
Who His majesty can reach?
Age to age His works transmitteth,
Age to age His power shall teach.They shall talk of all Thy glory,
On Thy might and greatness dwell,
Speak of Thy dread acts the story,
And Thy deeds of wonder tell.Nor shall fail from memory’s treasure
Works by love and mercy wrought;
Works of love surpassing measure,
Works of mercy passing thought.Full of kindness and compassion,
Slow to anger, vast in love,
God is good to all creation;
All His works His goodness prove.All Thy works, O Lord, shall bless Thee;
Thee shall all Thy saints adore:
King supreme shall they confess Thee,
And proclaim Thy sovereign power.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] I Will Extol Thee, O My God
I will extol Thee, O my God, and praise Thee, O my King;
Yea, every day and evermore Thy praises will I sing.
Great is the Lord, our mighty God, and greatly to be praised;
His greatness is unsearchable, above all glory raised.Each generation to the next shall testimony bear,
And to Thy praise, from age to age, Thy wondrous acts declare;
Upon Thy glorious majesty and honor I will dwell,
And all Thy grand and glorious works and all Thy greatness tell.Thy mighty acts and terrible shall men with awe confess;
Of Thy great goodness they shall sing, and perfect righteousness.
Most gracious and compassionate is God Who reigns above;
His wrath is ever slow to rise, unbounded is His love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] My God, My King, Thy Various Praise
My God, my King, Thy various praise
Shall fill the remnant of my days;
Thy grace employ my humble tongue
Till death and glory raise the song.The wings of every hour shall bear
Some thankful tribute to Thine ear;
And every setting sun shall see
New works of duty done for Thee.Thy truth and justice I’ll proclaim;
Thy bounty flows an endless stream;
Thy mercy swift, Thine anger slow,
But dreadful to the stubborn foe.Thy works with sovereign glory shine,
And speak Thy majesty divine;
Let us upon all shores proclaim
[originally, Let Britain round her shores proclaim]
The sound and honor of Thy Name.Let distant times and nations raise
The long succession of Thy praise,
And unborn ages make my song
The joy and labor of their tongue.But who can speak Thy wondrous deeds?
Thy greatness all our thoughts exceeds?
Vast and unsearchable Thy ways,
Vast and immortal be Thy praise!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] O Lord, Thou Art My God And King (1)
O Lord, Thou art my God and King,
And I will ever bless Thy Name.
I will extol Thee every day,
And evermore Thy praise proclaim.The Lord is greatly to be praised.
His greatness is beyond our thoughts.
From age to age the sons of men
Shall tell the wonders God has wrought.Upon Thy glorious majesty
And wondrous works my mind shall dwell.
Thy deeds fill all the world with awe,
And of Thy greatness I will tell.Thy matchless goodness and Thy grace
Thy people shall commemorate,
And all Thy truth and righteousness
My joyful song shall celebrate.The Lord our God is rich in grace,
Most tender and compassionate;
His anger is most slow to rise,
His lovingkindness is most great.The Lord is good in all His ways,
His creatures know His constant care;
To all His works His love extends,
All men His tender mercies share.Thy works shall give Thee thanks, O Lord,
Thy saints Thy mighty acts shall show,
Till o’er the earth the sons of men
Thy kingdom, power and glory know.Eternal is Thy kingdom, Lord,
Forever strong and ever sure;
While generations rise and die,
Shall Thy dominion still endure.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] O Lord, Thou Art My God And King (2)
O Lord, Thou art my God and King;
Thee will I magnify and praise:
I will Thee bless, and gladly sing
Unto Thy holy Name always.Each day I rise I will Thee bless,
And praise Thy Name time without end.
Much to be praised, and great God is;
His greatness none can comprehend.Race shall Thy works praise unto race,
The mighty acts show done by Thee.
I will speak of the glorious grace,
And honor of Thy majesty;Thy wondrous works I will record.
By men the might shall be extolled
Of all Thy dreadful acts, O Lord:
And I Thy greatness will unfold.They utter shall abundantly
The memory of Thy goodness great;
And shall sing praises cheerfully,
Whilst they Thy righteousness relate.The Lord our God is gracious,
Compassionate is He also;
In mercy He is plenteous,
But unto wrath and anger slow.Good unto all men is the Lord:
O’er all His works His mercy is.
Thy works all praise to Thee afford:
Thy saints, O Lord, Thy Name shall bless.The glory of Thy kingdom show
Shall they, and of Thy power tell:
That so men’s sons His deeds may know,
His kingdom’s grace that doth excel.Thy kingdom hath none end at all,
It doth through ages all remain.
The Lord upholdeth all that fall,
The cast-down raiseth up again.The eyes of all things, Lord, attend,
And on Thee wait that here do live,
And Thou, in season due, dost send
Sufficient food them to relieve.Yea, Thou Thine hand dost open wide,
And every thing dost satisfy
That lives, and doth on earth abide,
Of Thy great liberality.The Lord is just in His ways all,
And holy in His works each one.
He’s near to all that on Him call,
Who call in truth on Him alone.God will the just desire fulfill
Of such as do Him fear and dread:
Their cry regard, and hear He will,
And save them in the time of need.The Lord preserves all, more and less,
That bear to Him a loving heart:
But workers all of wickedness
Destroy will He, and clean subvert.Therefore my mouth and lips I’ll frame
To speak the praises of the Lord:
To magnify His holy Name
For ever let all flesh accord.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] Our Helper God, We Bless Thy Name
Our Helper, God, we bless Thy Name,
Whose love forever is the same;
The tokens of Whose gracious care
Begin and crown and close the year.Amid ten thousand snares we stand,
Supported by Thy guardian hand;
And see, when we review our ways,
Ten thousand monuments of praise.Thus far Thine arm has led us on;
Thus far we make Thy mercy known;
And while we tread this desert land,
New mercies shall new songs demand.Our grateful souls on Jordan’s shore
Shall raise one sacred pillar more,
Then bear, in Thy bright courts above,
Inscriptions of immortal love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:1] Savior, Again To Thy Dear Name
Savior, again to Thy dear Name we raise
With one accord our parting hymn of praise;
We stand to bless Thee ere our worship cease;
Then, lowly kneeling, wait Thy word of peace.Grant us Thy peace upon our homeward way;
With Thee began, with Thee shall end the day.
Guard thou the lips from sin, the hearts from shame,
That in this house have called upon Thy Name.Grant us Thy peace, through this approaching night;
Turn Thou for us its darkness into light;
From harm and danger keep Thy children free,
For dark and light are both alike to Thee.Grant us Thy peace—the peace Thou didst bestow
On Thine Apostles in Thine hour of woe;
The peace Thou broughtest, when at eventide
They saw Thy piercèd hands, Thy wounded side.Grant us Thy peace throughout our earthly life;
Peace to Thy church from error and from strife;
Peace to our land, the fruit of truth and love;
Peace in each heart, Thy Spirit from above.Thy peace in life, the balm of every pain;
Thy peace in death, the hope to rise again;
Then, when Thy voice shall bid our conflict cease,
Call us, O Lord, to Thine eternal peace.Father, once more before we part, we raise
With one accord our parting hymn of praise:
Once more we bless Thee, ere our songs shall cease,
Then, lowly kneeling, pray Thee for Thy peace.Grant us Thy peace, Lord, through the coming night,
Turn Thou for us its darkness into light.
From harm and danger, fear and shame kept free,
For dark and light are both alike to Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Each day we will extol your fame.The Lord is great and most worthy of praise;
His greatness no one can fully know.
Each age will tell of His wondrous ways
And to their children His glories show.The saints will speak of your majesty,
And I will ponder your awesome works.
They will rejoice in your charity,
And joyfully sing of your righteousness.The Lord is gracious and slow to wrath,
So full of mercy and rich in grace.
The Lord is good to all He has made,
And shows compassion in every place.All your creation will praise you, Lord;
Your saints will sing and declare your worth;
From joyful lips will your might be heard,
And kingdom glories throughout the earth.All your creation depends on you,
You feed them at their appointed time,
You, Lord, are righteous in all you do,
Let every creature exalt your Name.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:2] I Bless The Christ Of God
I bless the Christ of God, I rest on love divine,
And with unfaltering lip and heart, I call the Savior mine.
His cross dispels each doubt; I bury in His tomb
Each thought of unbelief and fear,
Each lingering shade of gloom.I praise the God of peace, I trust His truth and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine, My God, my Joy, my Light.
In Him is only good, in me is only ill;
My ill but draws His goodness forth,
And me He loveth still.’Tis He Who saveth me, and freely pardon gives;
I love because He loveth me; I live because He lives;
My life with Him is hid, my death has passed away,
My clouds have melted into light,
My midnight into day.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:5] Glorious Majesty
Glorious Majesty, before Thee
We bow to worship and adore Thee;
With grateful hearts to Thee we sing,
Earth and heaven tell the story
Of Thine eternal might and glory,
And all Thy works their incense bring.
Lo, hosts of cherubim and countless seraphim
Sing hosanna, holy is God
Almighty God, all merciful and all wise God!God of light, exalted, holy!
Thy tender care protects the lowly,
Nor leaves Thy children to their fate.
Gracious art Thou, God our Father,
Thy chosen people Thou dost gather,
Within Thine arms compassionate,
Thou gavest us Thy Son, through whom Thy grace is won,
And Thy Spirit dwelleth within to cleanse from sin
Whom Thine own Son hath died to win.Bless and keep, O Lord, Thy creatures,
Reveal to us Thy gracious features,
O turn to us Thy face with peace
Here our songs we humbly tender,
Til glorified our tongues shall render
To Thee our praise without surcease,
Where hosts of cherubim and countless seraphim
Sing holy is God, almighty God,
All merciful and all wise God!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:7] Sweet Is The Memory Of Thy Grace
Sweet is the memory of Thy grace,
My God, my heav’nly King;
Let age to age Thy righteousness
In sounds of glory sing.God reigns on high, but not confines
His goodness to the skies;
Through the whole earth His bounty shines,
And every want supplies.With longing eyes Thy creatures wait
On Thee for daily food;
Thy liberal hand provides their meat,
And fills their mouths with good.How kind are Thy compassions, Lord!
How slow Thine anger moves!
But soon He sends His pardoning word
To cheer the souls He loves.Creatures with all their endless race
Thy power and praise proclaim;
But saints that taste Thy richer grace
Delight to bless Thy Name.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:8] The Greatness Of His Mercy
When in Jesus we believe, and His pardon we receive,
What a comfort to the soul the promise brings;
That the weary and oppressed, when they come to Him for rest,
He will cover with the shadow of His wings.Refrain
O sing the greatness of His mercy,
Unto those that seek Him ever full and free;
O sing, while angels join the chorus,
Rolling onward like the sea.When in Jesus we abide, and by faith are justified,
We have peace with God the Father through His Name;
And the joy that fills the heart, though its earthly hopes depart,
Through His all atoning merit we may claim.Refrain
When in Jesus we are one we can say, His will be done,
We can trust Him where perhaps we cannot trace;
For he keeps us by His power, every moment, every hour,
And we feel the sweet refreshing of His grace.Refrain
Oh, the whispers of His love, how they cheer us from above,
While they tell of yonder mansions bright and fair;
Where, beyond the swelling tide, we shall anchor at His side,
And be gathered with the saints in glory there.Refrain

[Psa 145:8] The Pilgrim’s Journey
Slow to anger, full of kindness,
Rich in mercy, Lord, Thou art,
Wash me in Thy healing fountain,
Take away my sinful heart.Refrain
I would go the pilgrim’s journey,
Onward to the promised land;
I would reach the golden city,
There to join the angel band.Thou wilt never, never leave me,
If I give myself to Thee,
Teach, O teach me how to praise Thee,
Tell me what my life should be.Refrain
May Thy ever gracious spirit,
Lead me in the way of truth,
May I learn the voice of wisdom,
In the early days of youth.Refrain
O! how sweet to rest confiding,
On Thy Word that cannot fail,
Strong in Thee, whate’er my trials,
Through Thy grace I must prevail.Refrain

Tell of Christ Who saves from sin;
Make Him known—make Him known!
He has called you souls to win,
Make Him known!Refrain

Till all hearts shall be His throne;
Till He rules the world alone,
Make Him known.For the world God gave His Son,
Make Him known—make Him known!
With the message quickly run,
Make Him known!Refrain
All the lost ones Christ has sought,
Make Him known—make Him known!
Great salvation He hath wrought,
Make Him known!Refrain
Go ye forth to all the world,
Make Him known—make Him known!
Let His banner be unfurled—
Make Him known!Refrain
Souls are groping in the night,
Make Him known—make Him known!
Jesus is the world’s true Light,
Make Him known!Refrain

[Psa 145:12] Ye Sons Of Men, With Joy Record
Ye sons of men, with joy record
The various wonders of the Lord;
And let His power and goodness sound
Through all your tribes the earth around.Let the high heavens your songs invite;
Those spacious fields of brilliant light,
Where sun and moon and planets roll,
And stars that glow from pole to pole.See earth in verdant robes arrayed,
Its herbs and flowers, its fruit and shade;
View the broad sea’s majestic plains,
And think how wide its Maker reigns.But O that brighter world above,
Where lives and reigns Incarnate Love!
God’s only Son in flesh arrayed,
For man a bleeding Victim made.Thither, my soul, with rapture soar:
There in the land of praise adore:
This theme demands an angel’s lay,
Demands an undeclining day.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 145:15] Lord, In Thy Name Thy Servants Plead
Lord, in Thy Name Thy servants plead,
And Thou hast sworn to hear;
Thine is the harvest, Thine the seed,
The fresh and fading year.Our hope, when autumn winds blew wild,
We trusted, Lord, with Thee:
And still, now spring has on us smiled,
We wait on Thy decree.The former and the latter rain,
The summer sun and air,
The green ear and the golden grain,
All Thine, are ours by prayer.Thine too by right and ours by grace,
The wondrous growth unseen,
The hopes that soothe, the fears that brace,
The love that shines serene.So grant the precious things brought forth
By sun and moon below,
That Thee in Thy new heav’n and earth
We never may forgo.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 146:1] Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah (1)
Hallelujah, praise Jehovah,
O my soul, Jehovah praise;
I will sing the glorious praises
Of my God through all my days.
Put no confidence in princes,
Nor for help on man depend;
He shall die, to dust returning,
And his purposes shall end.Happy is the man that chooses
Israel’s God to be his aid;
He is blest whose hope of blessing
On the Lord his God is stayed.
Heaven and earth the Lord created,
Seas and all that they contain;
He delivers from oppression,
Righteousness He will maintain.Food He daily gives the hungry,
Sets the mourning prisoner free,
Raises those bowed down with anguish,
Makes the sightless eyes to see.
Well Jehovah loves the righteous,
And the stranger He befriends,
Helps the fatherless and widow,
Judgment on the wicked sends.Hallelujah, praise Jehovah,
O my soul, Jehovah praise;
I will sing the glorious praises
Of my God through all my days.
Over all God reigns forever,
Through all ages He is King;
Unto Him, thy God, O Zion,
Joyful hallelujahs sing.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 146:1] I’ll Praise My Maker
I’ll praise my Maker while I’ve breath,
And when my voice is lost in death,
Praise shall employ my nobler powers;
My days of praise shall ne’er be past,
While life, and thought, and being last,
Or immortality endures.Why should I make a man my trust?
Princes must die and turn to dust;
Vain is the help of flesh and blood:
Their breath departs, their pomp, and power,
And thoughts, all vanish in an hour,
Nor can they make their promise good.Happy the man whose hopes rely
On Israel’s God: He made the sky,
And earth, and seas, with all their train:
His truth for ever stands secure;
He saves th’oppressed, He feeds the poor,
And none shall find His promise vain.The Lord has eyes to give the blind;
The Lord supports the sinking mind;
He sends the labr’ing conscience peace;
He helps the stranger in distress,
The widow, and the fatherless,
And grants the pris’ner sweet release.He loves His saints, He knows them well,
But turns the wicked down to hell;
Thy God, O Zion! ever reigns:
Let every tongue, let every age,
In this exalted work engage;
Praise Him in everlasting strains.I’ll praise Him while He lends me breath,
And when my voice is lost in death,
Praise shall employ my nobler powers;
My days of praise shall ne’er be past,
While life, and thought, and being last,
Or immortality endures.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 146:1] It Is Well With My Soul
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.Refrain
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.Refrain
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!Refrain
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.Refrain
But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!Refrain
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.Refrain

[Psa 146:1] My Soul, Inspired With Sacred Love
My soul, inspired with sacred love,
The Lord thy God delight to praise;
His gifts I will for Him improve,
To Him devote my happy days;
To Him my thanks and praises give,
And only for His glory live.Long as my God shall lend me breath,
My every pulse shall beat for Him;
And when my voice is lost in death,
My spirit shall resume the theme.
The gracious theme, for ever new,
Through all eternity pursue.Soon as the breath of man expires,
Again he to his earth shall turn;
Where then are all his vain desires,
His love and hate, esteem and scorn?
All, all at that last gasp are o’er,
He falls to rise on earth no more.He, then, is blest, and only he,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
Who can to Him for succor flee,
That spread the earth and Heaven abroad;
That still the universe sustains,
And Lord of His creation reigns.True to His everlasting Word,
He loves the injured to redress:
Poor helpless souls the bounteous Lord
Relieves, and fills with plenteousness:
He sets the mournful prisoners free,
He bids the blind their Savior see.The Lord thy God, O Sion, reigns,
Supreme in mercy as in power,
The endless theme of heavenly strains,
When time and death shall be no more:
And all eternity shall prove
Too short to utter all His love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Food for the hungry, forlorn, distressed,
The Lord in season doth provide;
Those bound in chains He maketh free,
His lovingkindness they shall see,
O praise the Lord, O praise the Lord!Praise, O ye people, the Name most glorious
Of Him Who reigns Almighty King.

[Psa 146:2] How Can I Keep From Singing?
My life flows on in endless song;
Above earth’s lamentation
I hear the sweet though far off hymn
That hails a new creation:
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an echo in my soul—
How can I keep from singing?What though my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my Savior liveth;
What though the darkness gather round!
Songs in the night He giveth:
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging;
Since Christ is Lord of Heav’n and earth,
How can I keep from singing?I lift mine eyes; the cloud grows thin;
I see the blue above it;
And day by day this pathway smoothes
Since first I learned to love it:
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
A fountain ever springing:
All things are mine since I am His—
How can I keep from singing?Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Psa 146:6] O Maker Of The Sea And Sky
O Maker of the sea and sky,
Whose word the stormy winds fulfill,
On the wide ocean Thou art nigh,
Bidding these hearts of ours be still.What if Thy footsteps are not known?
W know Thy way is in the sea;
We trace the shadow of Thy throne,
Constant amid inconstancy.Thou bidd’st the north or south wind blow;
The lonely sea bird is Thy care;
And in the clouds which come and go,
We see Thy chariots everywhere.The sun that lights the homeland dear
Spreads the new morning o’er the deep;
And in the dark Thy stars appear,
Keeping their watches while we sleep.And so, secure from all alarms,
Thy seas beneath, Thy skies above,
Clasped in the everlasting arms,
We rest in Thine unslumbering love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Psa 147:1] O Could I Speak The Matchless Worth
O could I speak the matchless worth,
O could I sound the glories forth which in my Savior shine!
I’d sing His glorious righteousness, and magnify the wondrous grace
Which made salvation mine, which made salvation mine.I’d sing the precious blood He spilt,
My ransom from the dreadful guilt of sin, and wrath divine;
I’d sing His glorious righteousness, in which all perfect, heavenly dress
My soul shall ever shine, my soul shall ever shine.I’d sing the characters He bears,
And all the forms of love He wears, exalted on His throne;
In loftiest songs of sweetest praise, I would to everlasting days
Make all His glories known, make all His glories known.Soon, the delightful day will come
When my dear Lord will bring me home, and I shall see His face;
Then with my Savior, Brother, Friend, a blessèd eternity I’ll spend,
Triumphant in His grace, triumphant in His grace.Oh could I speak the matchless worth,
Oh could I sound the glories forth,
Which in my Saviour shine!

And vie with Gabriel while he sings
In notes almost divine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:1] O Sing Ye Hallelujah
O sing ye hallelujah! ’Tis good our God to praise.
’Tis pleasant and becoming to Him our songs to raise;
He builds the walls of Zion, He seeks her wandering sons;
He binds their wounds and comforts the brokenhearted ones.The starry hosts He numbers, He calls them all by name;
His greatness and His wisdom His wondrous works proclaim;
The meek He lifts to honor, He humbles sinful pride.
Give thanks to Him and utter His praises far and wide.The heav’ns with clouds He covers, He sends the cheering rain;
The slopes of all the mountains He fills with grass and grain;
To beast and bird His goodness their daily food supplies;
He cares for all His creatures, attentive to their cries.No human power delights Him, no earthly pomp or pride;
He loves the meek who fear Him and in His love confide;
Then praise thy God, O Zion, His gracious aid confess;
He gives thee peace and plenty, His gifts thy children bless.He sends His swift commandment, and snow and ice enfold
The world, and none are able to stand before His cold.
Again He gives commandment: The winds of summer blow,
The snow and ice are melted, again the waters flow.His statues and His judgments He makes His people know;
To them as to no others His grace He loves to show;
For matchless grace and mercy your grateful praises bring;
To give Him thanks forever and hallelujah sing.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:1] Praise Ye The Lord, For It Is Good
Praise ye the Lord, for it is good
To sing unto our God;
’Tis right and pleasant for His saints
To tell His praise abroad.
The Lord our God builds up His Church,
He seeks her wandering sons;
He binds their wounds and gently heals
The broken-hearted ones.Our Lord is great, He calls by name
And counts the stars of night;
His wisdom is unsearchable,
And wondrous is His might.
The Lord upholds the poor and meek,
He brings the wicked low;
Sing praise to Him and give Him thanks
And all His goodness show.No human might, no earthly pride
Delights the Lord above;
In them that fear Him He delights,
In them that trust His love.
O Zion, praise the Lord thy God,
His wondrous love confess;
He is thy glory and thy strength,
He will thy children bless.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:1] Praise Ye The Lord, ’tis Good To Raise
Praise ye the Lord; ’tis good to raise
Our hearts and voices in His praise;
His nature and His works invite
To make this duty our delight.The Lord builds up Jerusalem,
And gathers nations to His Name;
His mercy melts the stubborn soul,
And makes the broken spirit whole.He formed the stars, those heav’nly flames;
He counts their numbers, calls their names;
His wisdom’s vast, and knows no bound,
A deep where all our thoughts are drowned.Great is our Lord, and great His might;
And all His glories infinite:
He crowns the meek, rewards the just,
And treads the wicked to the dust.Sing to the Lord, exalt Him high,
Who spreads His clouds all round the sky;
There He prepares the fruitful rain,
Nor lets the drops descend in vain.He makes the grass the hills adorn,
And clothes the smiling fields with corn;
The beasts with food His hands supply,
And the young ravens when they cry.What is the creature’s skill or force,
The sprightly man, the warlike horse,
The nimble wit, the active limb?
All are too mean delights for Him.But saints are lovely in His sight,
He views His children with delight;
He sees their hope, He knows their fear,
And looks, and loves His image there.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:1] With Songs And Honors Sounding Loud
With songs and honors sounding loud,
Address the Lord on high;
Over the heav’ns He spreads His cloud,
And waters veil the sky.He sends His showers of blessing down
To cheer the plains below;
He makes the grass the mountains crown,
And corn in valleys grow.He gives the grazing ox his meat,
He hears the raven’s cry;
But man, who tastes His finest wheat,
Should raise His honors high.His steady counsels change the face
Of the declining year;
He bids the sun cut short his race,
And wintry days appear.His hoary frost, His fleecy snow,
Descend and clothe the ground;
The liquid streams forbear to flow,
In icy fetters bound.When from the dreadful stores on high
He pours the rattling hail,
The wretch that dares this God defy
Shall find his courage fail.He sends His Word, and melts the snow,
The fields no longer mourn;
He calls the warmer gales to blow,
And bids the spring return.The changing wind, the flying cloud,
Obey His mighty Word:
With songs and honors sounding loud,
Praise ye the sovereign Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:1] With Gladness We Worship
With gladness we worship, rejoice as we sing,
Free hearts and free voices, how blessèd to bring!
The old thankful story shall seek Thine abode,
Thou King of all glory, most bountiful God!Renewed by Thy Spirit, redeemed by Thy Son,
Thy children would bless Thee for all Thou hast done:
O Father, returning to love and to light,
Our spirits are yearning to praise Thee aright.Thy right would we give Thee, true homage Thy due,
And honor eternal, the universe through:
With all Thy creation, earth, heaven and sea,
In one acclamation we glorify Thee.We join with the angels, and so there is giv’n,
From earth, Alleluia, in answer to Heav’n.
Amen! Be Thou glorious below and above,
Redeeming, victorious, and infinite Love!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:4] Can You Count The Stars?
Can you count the stars that brightly
Twinkle in the midnight sky?
Can you count the clouds, so lightly
O’er the meadows floating by?
God, the Lord, doth mark their number,
With His eyes that never slumber;
He hath made them every one,
He hath made them every one.Can you count the wings now flashing
In the sunshine’s golden light?
Can you count the fishes splashing
In the cooling waters bright?
God, the Lord, a name hath given,
To all creatures under Heaven;
He hath named them every one,
He hath named them every one.Do you know how many children
Rise each morning blithe and gay?
Can you count their jolly voices,
Singing sweetly day by day?
God hears all the happy voices,
In their merry songs rejoices;
And He loves them, every one
And He loves them, every one.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:4] Do You Know How Many Stars?
Do you know how many stars
There are shining in the sky?
Do you know how many clouds
Every day go floating by?
God, the Lord, their number knoweth,
For each one His care He showeth,
Of the bright and boundless host,
Of the bright and boundless host.Do you know how many birdies
In the sunshine sing each day?
Do you know how many fishes
In the sparkling water play?
God, the Lord, who dwells in Heaven,
Name and life to each has given,
In His love they live and move,
In His love they live and move.Do you know how many children
Go to little beds at night,
And without a care or sorrow
Wake again with morning light?
God in Heav’n each name can tell,
Know us, too, and loves us well,
He’s our best and dearest Friend,
He’s our best and dearest Friend.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:5] Infinite God, To Thee We Raise
Infinite God, to Thee we raise
Our hearts in solemn songs of praise,
By all Thy works on earth adored,
We worship Thee, the common Lord;
The everlasting Father own,
And bow our souls before Thy throne.Thee all the choir of angels sings,
The Lord of hosts, the King of kings;
Cherubs proclaim Thy praise aloud,
And seraphs shout the Triune God;
And, “Holy, holy, holy,” cry,
“Thy glory fills both earth and sky!”God of the patriarchal race,
The ancient seers record Thy praise,
The goodly apostolic band
In highest joy and glory stand;
And all the saints and prophets join
To extol Thy majesty divine.Head of the martyrs’ noble host,
Of Thee they justly make their boast;
The church, to earth’s remotest bounds,
Her heavenly Founder’s praise resounds;
And strives, with those around the throne,
To hymn the mystic Three in One.Father of endless majesty,
All might and love they render Thee;
Thy true and only Son adore,
The same in dignity and power;
And God the Holy Ghost declare,
The saints’ eternal Comforter.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:8] O Sing To The Lord, Whose Bountiful Hand
O sing to the Lord, whose bountiful hand
Again doth accord His gifts to the land.
His clouds have shed down their plenteousness here,
His goodness shall crown the hopes of the year.In clefts of the hills the founts He hath burst,
And poureth their rills through valleys athirst,
The river of God the pastures has blest,
The dry, withered sod in greenness is dressed.And every fold shall team with its sheep,
With harvests of gold the fields shall be deep;
The vales shall rejoice with laughter and song,
And man’s grateful voice the music prolong.So too may He pour, the Last and the First,
His graces in store on spirits athirst,
Till, when the great day of harvest hath come,
He takes us away to garner at home.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:16] All Beautiful The March Of Days
All beautiful the march of days, as seasons come and go;
The Hand that shaped the rose hath wrought the crystal of the snow;
Hath sent the hoary frost of Heav’n, the flowing waters sealed,
And laid a silent loveliness on hill and wood and field.O’er white expanses sparkling pure the radiant morns unfold;
The solemn splendors of the night burn brighter than the cold;
Life mounts in every throbbing vein, love deepens round the hearth,
And clearer sounds the angel hymn, “Good will to men on earth.”O Thou from Whose unfathomed law the year in beauty flows,
Thyself the vision passing by in crystal and in rose,
Day unto day doth utter speech, and night to night proclaim,
In ever changing words of light, the wonder of Thy Name.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 147:16] ’tis Winter Now, The Fallen Snow
’Tis winter now; the fallen snow
Has left the heav’ns all coldly clear;
Through leafless boughs the sharp winds blow,
And all the earth lies dead and drear.And yet God’s love is not withdrawn;
His life within the keen air breathes;
His beauty paints the crimson dawn,
And clothes the boughs with glittering wreaths.And though abroad the sharp winds blow,
And skies are chill, and frosts are keen,
Home closer draws her circle now,
And warmer glows her light within.O God! Who giv’st the winter’s cold
As well as summer’s joyous rays,
Us warmly in Thy love enfold,
And keep us through life’s wintry days.Play source: Cyberhymnal
