Psalms 107:23-26

• [Psa 107:23] O That The Race Of Men Would Raise

  O that the race of men would raise Their voices to their heav’nly King, And with the sacrifice of praise The glories of Jehovah sing! Ye navigators of the sea, Your course on ocean’s tides who keep, And there Jehovah’s wonders see, His wonders in the briny deep! He speaks; conflicting whirlwinds fly; The waves in swelling torrents flow; They mount, aspire to heaven on high; They sink, as if to hell below: Their souls with terror melt away; They stagger as if drunk with wine Their skill is vain, to Thee they pray; O, save them, Energy divine! He stays the storm; the waves subside; Their hearts with rapture are inspired; Soft breezes waft them o’er the tide, In gladness, to their port desired: O that mankind the song would raise, Jehovah’s goodness to proclaim! Assembled nations shout His praise, Assembled elders bless His Name!

• [Psa 107:23] They That Traffic On The Sea

  They that traffic on the sea, While unceasing watch they keep, See Jehovah’s majesty And His wonders in the deep; For He bids the storm-wind fly, Lifting ocean’s waves on high. By the billows heav’nward tossed, Down to dreadful depths again, Troubled much, their courage lost, Reeling, they like drunken men Find their skill and power o’erthrown; None can save but God alone. To Jehovah then they cry In their trouble, and He saves, Drives the darkness from the sky, Calms the storm and stills the waves, Makes their sad forebodings cease, To their haven guides in peace. Sons of men, awake to praise God the Lord Who reigns above, Gracious in His works and ways, Wondrous in redeeming love; Praise Him where the people meet, Praise Him in the elder’s seat.
