  If birds that neither sow nor reap Nor store up any food Constantly find to them and theirs A Maker kind and good; If man provide eke for his birds, In yard, in coops, in cage; And each bird spends in songs and tunes, His little time and age; What care will man, what care will God For wife and children take? Millions of birds and worlds will God Sooner than His forsake.

• [Luk 12:27] Consider The Lilies

  Consider the lilies—how stately they grow! They toil not, they spin not, no seed do they sow; Yet they bloom all the summer, so shining and tall, The Father Who loves them takes thought for them all. Consider the ravens—who gives them their food? Who shelters their nest in the storm beaten wood? Who guides the young sparrow? who watches its fall? Their Father in Heaven takes heed for them all. Our Father in Heaven, Thy children on earth Than lilies or ravens Thou holdest more worth: O guide us and guard us, be near when we call, Uphold us, enfold us—we thank Thee for all!

• [Luk 12:27] Long Ago The Lilies Faded

  Long ago the lilies faded Which to Jesus seemed so fair, But the love that bade them blossom Still is working everywhere. In the fields, and in the valleys, By the streams we love so well, There is greater glory blooming, Than the tongue of man can tell. Long ago in sacred silence Died the accents of His prayer; Still the souls that seek the Father Find His presence everywhere. Let us seek Him, still believing, He that worketh round us yet, Clothing lilies in the meadows, Will His children ne’er forget.

  We thank Thee, O our Father, For all Thy loving care; We thank Thee that Thou madest The world so bright and fair. We thank Thee for the sunshine, And for the pleasant showers; And O, our God, we thank Thee, We thank Thee for the flowers. Out in the sunny meadows And in the woodlands cool, Upon the breezy hillside, And by each reedy pool, And in the quiet pasture, And by the broad highways, All pure, and fresh, and stainless, They spring up every day. And in the dusty city, Where busy crowds pass by, And where the tall dark houses Stand up and hide the sky; And where through lanes and alleys No pleasant breezes blow, Even there, O God, our Father, Thou mak’st the flowers grow. And whether in the city Or in the fields they dwell Always the same sweet message, The fair, sweet flowers tell. For they are all so wondrous, They show Thy power abroad; And they are all so beauteous, They tell Thy love, O God.

  All of my need He freely supplieth, Day after day His goodness I prove; Mercies unfailing, new every morning, Tell me of God’s unchangeable love. Refrain God hath laid help on One that is mighty, One who is Friend and Brother indeed; Nothing have I, yet I am contented, For He supplieth all of my need. All of my need He freely supplieth, Wisdom and guidance, strength as my day; Grace for each trial, comfort in sorrow, Blessèd communion all of the way. • [Luk 12:32] Fear Not, Thou Faithful Christian Flock

  Fear not, thou faithful Christian flock; God is thy shelter and thy rock; Fear not for thy salvation. Though fierce the foe and dark the night, The Lord of hosts shall be thy might, Christ thine illumination. Arise, arise, the foe defy! Call on the Name of God most high, That He with might endue you. And Christ, your everlasting Priest, In all your conflicts shall assist, From strength to strength renew you.
