John 13:1-38
-
[Joh 13:5] Jesu, Jesu
Refrain
Jesu, Jesu,
Fill us with Your love, show us how to serve
The neighbors we have from You.Kneels at the feet of his friends,
Silently washes their feet,
Master who acts as a slave to them.Refrain
Neighbors are rich and poor,
Neighbors are black and white,
Neighbors are near and far away.Refrain
These are the ones we should serve,
These are the ones we should love;
All these are neighbors to us and You.Refrain
Loving puts us on our knees,
Serving as though we are slaves,
This is the way we should live with You.Refrain
Kneel at the feet of our friends,
Silently washing their feet,
This is the way we should live with You.Refrain

[Joh 13:7] God Moves In A Mysterious Way
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:7] We’ll Understand It Better By And By
We are tossed and driv’n on the restless sea of time;
Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine;
In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away,
We will understand it better by and by.Refrain
By and by, when the morning comes,
When the saints of God are gathered home,
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.We are often destitute of the things that life demands,
Want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands;
We are trusting in the Lord, and according to God’s Word,
We will understand it better by and by.Refrain
Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand
All the ways that God could lead us to that blessèd promised land;
But He guides us with His eye, and we’ll follow till we die,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.Refrain
Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares,
And our hearts are made to bleed for a thoughtless word or deed;
And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best,
But we’ll understand it better by and by.Refrain

[Joh 13:13] O Lord And Master Of Us All
O Lord and Master of us all,
Whate’er our name or sign,
We own Thy sway, we hear Thy call,
We test our lives by Thine.Thou judgest us; Thy purity
Doth all our lusts condemn;
The love that draws us nearer Thee
Is hot with wrath to them.Our thoughts lie open to Thy sight
And naked to Thy glance
Our secret sins are in the light
Of Thy pure countenance.Yet weak and blinded though we be,
Thou dost our service own;
We bring our varying gifts to Thee,
And Thou rejectest none.To Thee our full humanity,
Its joys and pains belong;
The wrong of man to man on Thee
Inflicts a deeper wrong.Who hates, hates Thee; who loves, becomes
Therein to Thee allied:
All sweet accords of hearts and homes
In Thee are multiplied.Apart from Thee all gain is loss,
All labor vainly done;
The solemn shadow of the cross
Is better than the sun.Our Friend, our Brother, and our Lord,
What may Thy service be?
Nor name, nor form, nor ritual word,
But simply following Thee.We faintly hear, we dimly see,
In differing phrase we pray;
But dim or clear, we own in Thee
The Light, the Truth, the Way.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:13] O Love! O Life!
O Love! O Life! Our faith and sight
Thy presence maketh one,
As through transfigured clouds of white
We trace the noonday sun.So, to our mortal eyes subdued,
Flesh-veiled, but not concealed,
We know in Thee the fatherhood
And heart of God revealed.We faintly hear, we dimly see,
In differing phrase we pray;
But, dim or clear, we own in Thee
The Light, the Truth, the Way!Our Friend, our Brother, and our Lord,
What may Thy service be?
Nor name, nor form, nor ritual word,
But simply following Thee.Thy litanies, sweet offices
Of love and gratitude;
Thy sacramental liturgies,
The joy of doing good.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:15] What Would Jesus Do? (ogdon)
Oft we lose the narrow pathway,
As we seek the land of day;
Yet the Master goes before us:
In His steps we find the way.Refrain
What would Jesus do?
Make His way the way for you.
In a world of sin and sorrow
He was tried and proven true,
So we always know what He would do.Do not weary of well doing,
From the mockery of men,
Jesus, too, was scorned, rejected,
Yet reviled them not again.Refrain
Though our human courage falters,
At the world’s appalling sin,
It is Jesus we are trusting,
Love divine shall surely win.Refrain
What to us is fame or treasure,
Though of all we gain control;
This alone shall truly profit:
A redeemed, immortal soul.Refrain

[Joh 13:34] Angry Words
Angry words! O let them never,
From the tongue unbridled slip,
May the heart’s best impulse ever,
Check them ere they soil the lip.Refrain
Love one another thus saith the Savior,
Children obey the Father’s blest command,
Love each other, love each other,
’Tis the Father’s blest command.Love is much too pure and holy,
Friendship is too sacred far,
For a moment’s reckless folly,
Thus to desolate and mar.Refrain
Angry words are lightly spoken,
Bitterest thoughts are rashly stirred,
Brightest links of life are broken,
By a single angry word.Refrain

[Joh 13:34] Dear Ties Of Mutual Succor Bind
Dear ties of mutual succor bind
The children of our feeble race,
And if our brethren were not kind,
This earth were but a weary place.We lean on others as we walk
Life’s twilight path, with pitfalls strewn;
And ’twere an idle boast to talk
Of treading that dim path alone.Amid the snares misfortune lays
Unseen beneath the steps of all,
Blest is the love that seeks to raise,
And stay and strengthen those who fall.Till, taught by Him who for our sake
Bore every form of life’s distress,
With every passing year we make
The sum of human sorrow less.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:34] Little Bit Of Love, A
Do you know the world is dying
For a little bit of love?
Everywhere we hear the sighing
For a little bit of love;
For the love that rights a wrong,
Fills the heart with hope and song;
They have waited, oh, so long,
For a little bit of love.
For a little bit of love,
For a little bit of love,
They have waited, oh, so long,
For a little bit of love,From the poor of every city,
For a little bit of love,
Hands are reaching out for pity,
For a little bit of love;
Some have burdens hard to bear,
Some have sorrows we would share;
Shall they falter and despair
For a little bit of love?
For a little bit of love,
For a little bit of love,
Shall they falter and despair
For a little bit of love?Down before their idols falling,
For a little bit of love,
Many souls in vain are calling
For a little bit of love;
If they die in sin and shame,
Someone surely is to blame
For not going in His Name,
With a little bit of love.
With a little bit of love,
With a little bit of love,
For not going in His Name,
With a little bit of love.While the souls of men are dying,
For a little bit of love,
While the children, too, are crying,
For a little bit of love,
Stand no longer idly by,
You can help them if you try;
Go, then saying, “Here am I,”
With a little bit of love.
With a little bit of love,
With a little bit of love,
Go, then saying, “Here am I,”
With a little bit of love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:34] O He Whom Jesus Loved
O he whom Jesus loved has truly spoken,
That holier worship, which God deigns to bless,
Restores the lost, and heals the spirit broken,
And feeds the widow and the fatherless.Then, brother man, fold to thy heart thy brother,
For where love dwells, the peace of God is there;
To worship rightly is to love each other;
Each smile a hymn, each kindly deed a prayer.Follow with reverent steps the great example
Of Him whose holy work was doing good;
So shall the wide earth seem our Father’s temple,
Each loving life a psalm of gratitude.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:34] When There’s Love At Home
There is beauty all around,
When there’s love at home;
There is joy in ev’ry sound,
When there’s love at home.
Peace and plenty here abide,
Smiling sweet on ev’ry side;
Time doth softly, sweetly glide,
When there’s love at home;
Love at home, love at home,
Time doth softly, sweetly glide,
When there’s love at home.In the cottage there is joy,
When there’s love at home;
Hate and envy ne’er annoy,
When there’s love at home.
Roses blossom ’neath our feet,
All the earth’s a garden sweet,
Making life a bliss complete,
When there’s love at home;
Love at home, love at home,
Making life a bliss complete,
When there’s love at home.Kindly Heaven smiles above,
When there’s love at home;
All the earth is filled with love,
When there’s love at home.
Sweeter sings the brooklet by,
Brighter beams the azure sky:
Oh, there’s One Who smiles on high,
When there’s love at home;
Love at home, love at home,
Oh, there’s One Who smiles on high,
When there’s love at home.Jesus, show Thy mercy mine,
Then there’s love at home;
Sweetly whisper I am Thine,
Then there’s love at home.
Source of love, Thy cheering light
Far exceeds the sun so bright—
Can dispel the gloom of night;
Then there’s love at home;
Love at home, love at home,
Can dispel the gloom of night;
Then there’s love at home.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:35] Our God Is Love
Our God is love; and all His saints
His image bear below;
The heart with love to God inspired,
With love to man will glow.O may we love each other, Lord,
As we are loved by Thee;
For none are truly born of God
Who live in enmity.Heir of the same immortal bliss,
Our hopes and fears the same,
The cords of love our hearts should bind,
The laws of love inflame.So shall the vain contentious world
Our peaceful lives approve,
And wondering say, as they of old,
“See how these Christians love.”Play source: Cyberhymnal
