[Heb 10:4] Not All The Blood Of Beasts
Not all the blood of beasts
On Jewish altars slain
Could give the guilty conscience peace
Or wash away the stain.But Christ, the heav’nly Lamb,
Takes all our sins away;
A sacrifice of nobler name
And richer blood than they.My faith would lay her hand
On that dear head of Thine,
While, like a penitent, I stand,
And there confess my sin.My soul looks back to see
The burdens Thou didst bear
When hanging on the cursèd tree,
And hopes her guilt was there.Believing, we rejoice
To see the curse remove;
We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,

[Heb 10:4] O Thou Whose Offering On The Tree
O Thou whose offering on the tree
The legal offerings all foreshowed,
Borrowed their whole effect from Thee,
And drew their virtue from Thy blood.The blood of goats and bullocks slain,
Could never for one sin atone;
To purge the guilty offerer’s stain,
Thine was the work, and Thine alone.Vain in themselves their duties were,
Their services could never please,
Till joined with Thine, and made to share
The merits of Thy righteousness.Forward they cast a faithful look
On Thy approaching sacrifice;
And thence their pleasing savor took,
And rose accepted in the skies.These feeble types and shadows old,
Are all in Thee, the Truth, fulfilled;
We in Thy sacrifice behold
The substance of those rites revealed.Thy meritorious sufferings past,
We see by faith to us brought back;
And, on Thy grand oblation cast,

[Heb 10:10] Once, Only Once
Once, only once, and once for all,
His precious life He gave;
Before the cross in faith we fall,
And own it strong to save.“One off’ring, single and complete,”
With lips and hearts we say;
But what He never can repeat
He shows forth day by day.For as the priest of Aaron’s line
Within the holiest stood,
And sprinkled all the mercy shrine
With sacrificial blood;So He, who once atonement wrought,
Our Priest of endless power,
Presents Himself for those He bought
In that dark noontide hour.His manhood pleads where now it lives
On heaven’s eternal throne,
And where in mystic rite He gives
Its presence to His own.And so we show Thy death, O Lord,
Till Thou again appear,
And feel, when we approach Thy board,

[Heb 10:10] True Messiah Now Appears, The
The true Messiah now appears,
The types are all withdrawn;
So fly the shadows and the stars
Before the rising dawn.No smoking sweets, nor bleeding lambs,
Nor kid nor bullock slain;
Incense and spice of costly names
Would all be burnt in vain.Aaron must lay his robes away,
His miter and his vest,
When God Himself comes down to be
The offering and the priest.He took our mortal flesh to show
The wonders of His love;
For us He paid His life below,
And prays for us above.“Father,” He cries, “forgive their sins,
For I Myself have died”;
And then He shows His opened veins

[Heb 10:12] Come, All Harmonious Tongues
Come, all harmonious tongues,
Your noblest music bring;
’Tis Christ the everlasting God,
And Christ the man, we sing.
Tell how He took our flesh,
To take away our guilt;
Sing the dear drops of sacred blood
That hellish monsters spilt.Alas! the cruel spear
Went deep into His side,
And the rich flood of purple gore
Their murderous weapons dyed.
The waves of swelling grief
Did o’er His bosom roll,
And mountains of almighty wrath
Lay heavy on His soul.Down to the shades of death
He bowed His smitten head;
Yet He arose to live and reign
When death itself is dead.
No more the bloody spear,
The cross and nails no more;
For hell itself shakes at His Name,
And all the heav’ns adore.There the Redeemer sits
High on the Father’s throne;
The Father lays His vengeance by,
And smiles upon His Son.
There His full glories shine
With uncreated rays,
And bless His saints and angels’ eyes

[Heb 10:14] When O’er My Sins I Sorrow
When o’er my sins I sorrow,
Lord, I will look to Thee
And hence my comfort borrow
That Thou wast slain for me;
Yea, Lord, Thy precious blood was spilt
For me, O most unworthy,
To take away my guilt.Oh, what a marvelous offering!
Behold, the Master spares
His servants, and their suffering
And grief for them He bears.
God stoopeth from His throne on high;
For me, His guilty creature,
He deigns as man to die.My manifold transgression
Henceforth can harm me none
Since Jesus’ bloody Passion
For me God’s grace hath won.
His precious blood my debts hath paid;
Of hell and all its torments
I am no more afraid.Therefore I will forever
Give glory unto Thee,

For what Thou didst for me.

[Heb 10:22] Since We Have Confidence
Since we have confidence to come to God,
Since Jesus made a way by His own blood,
Since He the veil did tear,
A living way made clear,
Our great High Priest is e’er,

Fully assured in faith,

[Heb 10:23] I Was Made A Christian
I was made a Christian
When my name was giv’n,
One of God’s dear children,
And an heir of Heaven.
In the name of Christian
I will glory now,
Evermore remember
My baptismal vow.I must, like a Christian
Shun all evil ways,
Keep the faith of Jesus,
Serve Him all my days.
Called to be a Christian

He who brought His ancient people,
With a strong and mighty hand,
Out of all their cruel bondage,

[Heb 10:25] Lord, We See The Day Approaching
Lord, we see the day approaching,
When Thou wilt again appear;
Sinners still Thy garments touching,
Stay Thee in Thy coming here.Hid in Heaven all our treasure,
Patience now becomes Thy saints;
Lord, we wait Thy gracious pleasure,
Faith should silence all complaints.Through the wilderness we wander,
Troubled oft, but not distressed;
Seek we glory? It is yonder,
Suffering pledges future rest.Coming judgments round us darken,
Human hearts may fail or fear;
But to Thee alone we hearken,
“Your redemption draweth near.”Make each waiting child obedient,
Stay our anxious hearts on this:
If Thy going were “expedient,”
Surely Thy return is bliss.Our own Lord is coming hither,
Light in darkness, joy in grief;
Hope deferred would quickly wither
Hearts that had not this relief.All we need is deep affection,
Singleness of eye and heart;

[Heb 10:37] And Is It So? A Little While
And is it so? “A little while,”
And then the life undying,
The light of God’s unclouded smile,
The singing for the sighing?
“A little while!” O glorious word,
Sweet solace of our sorrow;
And then “forever with the Lord,”
The everlasting morrow.Then be it ours to journey on
In paths that He decrees us,
Where His own feet before have gone,
Our strength, our hope, our Jesus;
In lowly fellowship with Him
The cross appointed bearing;
For O a crown no grief can dim
One day we shall be wearing.O ’twill be passing sweet to gaze
On Him in all His glory;
And lost in love and glad amaze
To shout redemption’s story;
Till angels bend to catch the strain
Our human lips are swelling,
And “worthy is the Lamb once slain,”
