  Holy Father, cheer our way With Thy love’s perpetual ray; Grant us every closing day Light at evening time. Holy Savior, calm our fears When earth’s brightness disappears; Grant us in our later years Light at evening time. Holy Spirit, be Thou nigh When in mortal pains we lie; Grant us, as we come to die, Light at evening time. Holy, blessèd Trinity, Darkness is not dark to Thee; Those Thou keepest always see Light at evening time.

  Beams of Heaven, as I go, Through this wilderness below, Guide my feet in peaceful ways, Turn my midnights into days; When in the darkness I would grope, Faith always sees a star of hope, And soon from all life’s grief and danger, I shall be free some day. Refrain I do not know how long ’twill be, Nor what the future holds for me, But this I know, if Jesus leads me, I shall get home some day. Oftentimes my sky is clear, Joy abounds without a tear, Though a day so bright begun, Clouds may hide tomorrow’s sun; There’ll be a day that’s always bright, A day that never yields to night, And in its light the streets of glory I shall behold some day. Refrain Harder yet may be the fight, Right may often yield to might, Wickedness awhile may reign, Satan’s cause may seem to gain, There is a God that rules above, With hand of power and heart of love, If I am right, He’ll fight my battle, I shall have peace some day. • [Zec 14:7] We Journey Through A Vale Of Tears

  We journey through a vale of tears, By many a cloud o’ercast; And worldly cares and worldly fears, Go with us to the last. Not to the last! Thy Word hath said, Could we but read aright, “Poor pilgrim, lift in hope thy head, At eve there shall be light!” Though earthborn shadows now may shroud Thy thorny path awhile, God’s blessèd Word can part each cloud, And bid the sunshine smile. Only believe, in living faith, His love and power divine; And ere thy sun shall set in death, His light shall round thee shine. When tempest clouds are dark on high, His bow of love and peace Shines sweetly in the vaulted sky, Betokening storms shall cease. Hold on thy way, with hope unchilled, By faith and not by sight, And thou shalt own His Word fulfilled, “At eve it shall be light.”
