Romans 8:1
-
[Rom 8:1] One Day I Traveled A Toilsome Road
One day I traveled a toilsome road
Over the hills of despair;
One day I carried a weary load,
Cumbered with toil and with care.Refrain
The burden that once I carried is gone, is gone
Of all my sins there remaineth not one, not one.
Jesus, the Savior, hath ransomed me,
Bearing my sins upon Calvary,
Giving me glorious liberty;
My burden of sin is gone.Gone is the night with its shadows drear;
Morning hath dawned upon me.
Gone is the burden of anxious fear;
Freedom my portion shall be.Refrain
No more the burden of guilt is mine;
No more in bondage I dwell.
Unto my glorious King divine
Jubilant praises shall swell.Refrain

[Rom 8:28] Begone Unbelief
Begone unbelief, my Savior is near,
And for my relief will surely appear:
By prayer let me wrestle, and He wilt perform,
With Christ in the vessel, I smile at the storm.Though dark be my way, since He is my Guide,
’Tis mine to obey, ’tis His to provide;
Though cisterns be broken, and creatures all fail,
The Word He has spoken shall surely prevail.His love in time past forbids me to think
He’ll leave me at last in trouble to sink;
Each sweet Ebenezer I have in review,
Confirms His good pleasure to help me quite through.Determined to save, He watched o’er my path,
When Satan’s blind slave, I sported with death;
And can He have taught me to trust in His Name,
And thus far have brought me, to put me to shame?Why should I complain of want or distress,
Temptation or pain? He told me no less:
The heirs of salvation, I know from His Word,
Through much tribulation must follow their Lord.How bitter that cup, no heart can conceive,
Which He drank quite up, that sinners might live!
His way was much rougher, and darker than mine;
Did Jesus thus suffer, and shall I repine?Since all that I meet shall work for my good,
The bitter is sweet, the medicine is food;
Though painful at present, wilt cease before long,
And then, O! how pleasant, the conqueror’s song!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:29] Can The World See Jesus In You?
Do we live so close to the Lord today,
Passing to and fro on life’s busy way,
That the world in us can a likeness see
To the Man of Calvary?Refrain
Can the world see Jesus in me?
Can the world see Jesus in you?
Does your love to Him ring true,
And your life and service, too?
Can the world see Jesus in you?Do we love, with love to His own akin,
All His creatures lost in the mire of sin?
Will we reach a hand, whatsoe’er it cost,
To reclaim a sinner lost?Refrain
As an open book they our lives will read,
To our words and acts giving daily heed;
Will they be attracted, or turn away
From the Man of Calvary?Refrain

[Rom 8:29] Holy Lamb, Who Thee Receive
Holy Lamb, who Thee receive,
Who in Thee begin to live,
Day and night they cry to Thee,
As Thou art, so let us be!
Jesu, see my panting breast!
See I pant in Thee to rest!
Gladly would I now be clean,
Cleanse me now from every sin.Fix, O fix my wavering mind!
To Thy cross my spirit bind;
Earthly passions far remove,
Swallow up my soul in love.
Dust and ashes though we be,
Full of sin and misery,
Thine we are, Thou Son of God!
Take the purchase of Thy blood!Who in heart on Thee believes,
He the atonement now receives,
He with joy beholds Thy face,
Triumphs in Thy pardoning grace.
See, ye sinners, see the flame,
Rising from the slaughtered Lamb,
Marks the new, the living way,
Leading to eternal day!Jesus, when this light we see,
All our soul’s athirst for Thee;
When Thy quickening power we prove,
All our heart dissolves in love.
Boundless wisdom, power divine,
Love unspeakable are Thine:
Praise by all to Thee be giv’n,
Sons of earth, and hosts of Heav’n!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:29] Jesus, My Savior, Let Me Be
Jesus, my Savior, let me be
More perfectly conformed to Thee;
Implant each grace, each sin dethrone,
And form my temper like Thine own.My foe, when hungry, let me feed,
Share in his grief, supply his need;
The haughty frown may I not fear,
But with a lowly meekness bear.Let the envenomed heart and tongue,
The hand outstretched to do me wrong,
Excite no feeling in my breast,
But such as Jesus once expressed.To others let me always give
What I from others would receive;
Good deeds for evil ones return,
Nor when provoked, with anger burn.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:29] Lord, I Am Fondly, Earnestly Longing
Lord, I am fondly, earnestly longing
Into Thy holy likeness to grow;
Thirsting for more and deeper communion,
Yearning Thy love more fully to know.Refrain
Open the wells of grace and salvation,
Pour the rich streams deep into my heart;
Cleanse and refine my thought and affection,
Seal me and make me pure as Thou art.Dead to the world would I be, O Father!
Dead unto sin, alive unto Thee;
Crucify all the earthly within me,
Emptied of sin and self may I be.Refrain
I would be Thine, and serve Thee forever,
Filled with Thy Spirit, lost in Thy love;
Come to my heart, Lord, come with anointing,
Showers of grace send down from above.Refrain

[Rom 8:29] Lord, Let Thy Spirit
Lord, let Thy Spirit, from earthly passion weaning,
Lead me along Thy will’s all-holy way,
To find by faith, on Jesus’ bosom leaning,
’Mid trial, doubt and need, in Him my stay.Lord, let Thy Spirit, new love and life bestowing,
Create a holy heart my breast within;
That I, into my Savior’s likeness growing,
May bear His image through a world of sin.Lord, let Thy Spirit, Thy Word’s deep wealth unsealing,
Lighten mine eyes with truth’s celestial fire;
In life, in death, the narrow path revealing,
Unto the Promised Land of our desire.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:29] O Love, Who Formedst Me To Wear
O Love, who formedst me to wear
The image of Thy Godhead here;
Who soughtest me with tender care
Thro’ all my wanderings wild and drear;
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.O Love, who ere life’s earliest dawn,
On me Thy choice hast gently laid;
O Love, who here as Man wast born,
And wholly like to us wast made;
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.O Love, who once in time wast slain,
Pierced through and through with bitter woe;
O Love, who wrestling thus didst gain
That we eternal joy might know;
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.O Love, of whom is truth and light,
The Word and Spirit, life and power,
Whose heart was bared to them that smite,
To shield us in our trial hour:
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.O Love, who thus hast bound me fast
Beneath that easy yoke of Thine;
Love, who hast conquered me at last,
Enrapturing this heart of mine—
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.O Love, who lovest me for aye,
Who for my soul dost ever plead;
O Love, who didst that ransom pay
Whose power sufficeth in my stead;
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.O Love, who once shalt bid me rise
From out this dying life of ours;
O Love, who once o’er yonder skies
Shalt set me in the fadeless bowers;
O Love, I give myself to Thee,
Thine ever, only Thine to be.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:29] Print Thine Image, Pure And Holy
Print Thine image, pure and holy,
On my heart, O Lord of Grace;
So that nothing, high or lowly,
Thy blest likeness can efface.
Let the clear inscription be:
Jesus, crucified for me,
And the Lord of all creation,
Be my Refuge and Salvation.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:31] Fight Is On, The
The fight is on, the trumpet sound is ringing out,
The cry “To arms!” is heard afar and near;
The Lord of hosts is marching on to victory,
The triumph of the Christ will soon appear.Refrain
The fight is on, O Christian soldier,
And face to face in stern array,
With armor gleaming, and colors streaming,
The right and wrong engage today!
The fight is on, but be not weary;
Be strong, and in His might hold fast;
If God be for us, His banner o’er us,
We’ll sing the victor’s song at last!The fight is on, arouse, ye soldiers brave and true!
Jehovah leads, and victory will assure;
Go buckle on the armor God has given you,
And in His strength unto the end endure.Refrain
The Lord is leading on to certain victory;
The bow of promise spans the eastern sky;
His glorious Name in every land shall honored be;
The morn will break, the dawn of peace is nigh.Refrain

[Rom 8:31] He Who Suns And Worlds Upholdeth
He Who suns and worlds upholdeth
Lends us His upholding hand;
He the ages Who unfoldeth
Doth our times and ways command.
God is for us, God is for us;
In His strength and stay we stand.He Who sage and seer instructed
Will not keep from us His lore;
Who those ancient saints conducted
Hath not giv’n His guiding o’er.
God is for us, God is for us;
Helpful now as heretofore.’Gainst oppression forth He sends us;
His the cause of truth and right;
With His own great host He binds us,
Lendeth us of His own might;
God is for us, God is for us;
Brings to happy end the fight.Onward, upward doth He beckon;
Onward, upward would we press;
As His own our burdens reckon,
As our own His strength possess.
God is for us, God is for us;
God, our Helper, still we bless.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:31] If God Himself Be For Me
If God Himself be for me, I may a host defy,
For when I pray, before me my foes confounded fly.
If Christ, the Head, befriend me, if God be my support,
The mischief they intend me shall quickly come to naught.I build on this foundation, that Jesus and His blood
Alone are my salvation, the true eternal good;
Without Him, all that pleases is valueless on earth:
The gifts I owe to Jesus alone my love are worth.His Holy Spirit dwelleth within my willing heart,
Tames it when it rebelleth, and soothes the keenest smart.
He crowns His work with blessing, and helpeth me to cry
“My Father!” without ceasing to Him Who reigns on high.To mine His Spirit speaketh sweet words of soothing power,
How God to Him that seeketh for rest, hath rest in store;
How God Himself prepareth my heritage and lot,
And though my body weareth, my Heav’n shall fail me not.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:31] Let Christian Faith And Hope Dispel
Let Christian faith and hope dispel
The fears of guilt and woe;
The Lord Almighty is our Friend,
And who can prove a foe?The Savior died, but rose again
Triumphant from the grave:
And pleads our cause at God’s right hand,
Omnipotent to save.Who then can e’er divide us more
From Jesus and His love,
Or break the sacred chain that binds
The earth to Heav’n above?Let troubles rise, and terrors frown,
And days of darkness fall;
Through Him all dangers we’ll defy,
And more than conquer all.Nor death, nor life, nor earth, nor hell,
Nor time’s destroying sway
Can e’er efface us from His heart
Or make His love decay.Each future period that will bless
As it has blessed the past;
He loved us from the first of time,
He loves us to the last.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:31] Once Pledged By The Cross
Once pledged by the Cross,
As children of God,
To tread in the steps
Your Captain has trod,
Now, sealed by the Spirit
Of wisdom and might,
Go forward, Christ’s soldiers,
Go forward and fight!Your weapons of war
Are sent from above,
The Spirit’s good sword,
The breastplate of love;
Your feet with the Gospel
Of peace be well shod;
Put on the whole armor,
The armor of God.Full well do ye know
The foe must be met,
Full well do ye feel
That Satan has set
His powers of darkness
In battle array;
But those who are for you
Are stronger than they.The fight may be long,
But triumph is sure,
And rest comes at last
To those who endure;
The rest that remaineth,
The victory won,
And—dearer than all things—
Your Captain’s “Well done.”Then, on to the fight
’Gainst sin and the world,
Stand fast in His strength,
His banner unfurled;
And, sealed by the Spirit
Of wisdom and might,
Go forward, Christ’s soldiers,
Go forward and fight.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:31] What Shall We Say?
What shall we say? If God indeed is for us,
Who then can ever come against our souls?
God did not spare His only Son, our Savior,
But gave Him up that we might be made whole.
How will He not, along with Christ our Lord,
Give us all things by His free grace?
God will indeed, along with Christ our Lord,
Give us all things by His free grace.Now who will bring a charge against God’s chosen?
God is the One Who justifies each man.
Who can condemn? Christ Jesus died for sinners,
Was raised to life, and sits at God’s right hand.
From there He always intercedes for us;
None can condemn—we’re justified.
He intercedes and brings our case to God;
None can condemn—we’re justified.Who then shall cleave us from the love of Jesus?
We who face death like sheep within their pen.
Shall trouble, hardship, persecution, hunger?
Shall nakedness or danger or armed men?
No, in all things we’re more than conquerors
Through Him Who loved us to the death.
In all these things, we’re more than conquerors
Through Him Who loved us to the death.I am convinced there’s naught in all creation
Can come between us and God’s love so vast.
Not death nor life, angels nor demon powers,
Things present now, nor what is yet to pass.
Nothing can separate us from God’s love
That comes to us through Christ our Lord!
Nothing can separate us from God’s love
That comes to us through Christ our Lord!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:32] With Solemn Faith We Offer Up
With solemn faith we offer up
And spread, O God, before Thine eyes
That only ground of all our hope,
That precious, once-made Sacrifice,
Which brings Thy grace on sinners down,
And perfects all our souls in one.Acceptance through His holy Name,
Forgiveness in His blood we have;
But more abundant life we claim
Through Him Who died our souls to save,
To sanctify us by His blood
And fill with all the life of God.As it were slain behold Thy Son,
And hear His blood that speaks above;
Oh let us all Thy grace be shown,
Peace, righteousness, and joy, and love:
Thy kingdom come to every heart,
And all Thou hast, and all Thou art.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:33] My Soul Complete In Jesus Stands
My soul complete in Jesus stands!
It fears no more the law’s demands;
The smile of God is sweet within,
Where all before was guilt and sin.My soul at rest in Jesus lives:
Accepts the peace His pardon gives;
Receives the grace His death secured,
And pleads the anguish He endured.My soul its every foe defies,
And cries—’tis God that justifies!
Who charges God’s elect with sin?
Shall Christ, who died their peace to win?A song of praise my soul shall sing
To our eternal, glorious King!
Shall worship humbly at His feet,
In Whom alone it stands complete.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:33] Who Shall The Lord’s Elect Condemn?
Who shall the Lord’s elect condemn?
’Tis God that justifies their souls;
And mercy, like a mighty stream,
O’er all their sins divinely rolls.Who shall adjudge the saints to hell?
’Tis Christ that suffered in their stead;
And, the salvation to fulfill,
Behold Him rising from the dead!He lives! He lives and sits above,
For ever interceding there:
Who shall divide us from His love?
Or what should tempt us to despair?Shall persecution, or distress,
Famine, or sword, or nakedness?
He that hath loved us bears us through,
And makes us more than conquerors too.Faith hath an overcoming power;
It triumphs in the dying hour:
Christ is our life, our joy, our hope,
Nor can we sink with such a prop.Not all that men on earth can do,
Nor powers on high, nor powers below,
Shall cause His mercy to remove,
Or wean our hearts from Christ our love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] Arise, My Soul, Arise
Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears;
The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears:
Before the throne my surety stands,
Before the throne my surety stands,
My name is written on His hands.He ever lives above, for me to intercede;
His all redeeming love, His precious blood, to plead:
His blood atoned for all our race,
His blood atoned for all our race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.Five bleeding wounds He bears; received on Calvary;
They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”The Father hears Him pray, His dear anointed One;
He cannot turn away, the presence of His Son;
His Spirit answers to the blood,
His Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me I am born of God.My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear;
He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear:
With confidence I now draw nigh,
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And “Father, Abba, Father,” cry.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] Father, See Thy Children
Father, see Thy children bending at Thy throne,
Pleading here the Passion of Thine only Son,
Pleading here before Thee all His dying love,
As He pleads it ever in the courts above.Not for our wants only we this Offering plead,
But for all Thy children, who Thy mercy need;
Bless Thy faithful people, win Thy wandering sheep,
Keep the souls departed who in Jesus sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] I Am Not Skilled To Understand
I am not skilled to understand
What God hath willed, what God hath planned;
I only know at His right hand
Is One Who is my Savior!I take Him at His word indeed;
“Christ died for sinners”—this I read;
For in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior!That He should leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die,
You count it strange? So once did I,
Before I knew my Savior!And oh, that He fulfilled may see
The travail of His soul in me,
And with His work contented be,
As I with my dear Savior!Yea, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this Spring;
That He Who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] John In Vision Saw The Day
John in vision saw the day
When the Judge will hasten down;
Heav’n and earth shall flee away
From the terror of His frown:Dead and living, small and great,
Raised from the earth and sea;
At His bar shall hear their fate,
What will then become of me?Can I bear His awful looks?
Shall I stand in judgment then,
When I see the opened books,
Written by th’ Almighty’s pen?If He to remembrance bring,
And expose to public view,
Every work and secret thing,
Ah, my soul, what canst thou do?When the list shall be produced
Of the talents I enjoyed;
Means and mercies, how abused!
Time and strength, how misemployed!Conscience then, compelled to read,
Must allow the charge is true;
Say, my soul, what canst thou plead
In that hour, what wilt thou do?But the book of life I see,
May my name be written there!
Then from guilt and danger free,
Glad I’ll meet Him in the air:That’s the book I hope to plead,
’Tis the Gospel opened wide;
Lord, I am a wretch indeed!
I have sinned, but Thou hast died.Now my soul knows what to do;
Thus I shall with boldness stand,
Numbered with the faithful few,
Owned and saved, at Thy right hand:If Thou help a foolish worm
To believe Thy promise now;
Justice will at last confirm
What Thy mercy wrought below.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] O Show Me Not My Savior Dying
O show me not my Savior dying,
As on the cross He bled;
Nor in the tomb, a captive lying,
For He has left the dead.
Then bid me not that form extended
For my Redeemer own,
Who, to the highest heavens ascended,
In glory fills the throne.Weep not for Him at Calvary’s station,
Weep only for thy sins;
View where He lay with exultation,
’Tis there our hope begins.
Yet stay not there, thy sorrows feeding,
Amid the scenes He trod;
Look up, and see Him interceding
At the right hand of God.Still in the shameful cross I glory,
Where His dear blood was spilt:
His shameful cross, set forth before me,
Hath canceled all my guilt.
Yet what, ’mid conflict and temptation,
Shall strength and honor give?
He lives, the Captain of Salvation,
Therefore His servants live.By death, He death’s dark king defeated,
And overcame the grave:
Rising, the triumph He completed;
He lives, he reigns to save.
Heaven’s happy myriads bow before Him:
He comes, the Judge of men:
These eyes shall see Him, and adore Him,
Lord Jesus, own me then.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:35] I Walk With Love Along The Way
I walk with Love along the way,
And O, it is a holy day;
No more I suffer cruel fear,
I feel God’s presence with me here;
The joy that none can take away
Is mine; I walk with Love today.Who walks with Love along the way,
Shall talk with Love and Love obey;
God’s healing truth is free to all,
Our Father answers every call;
’Tis He dispels the clouds of gray
That all may walk with Love today.Come, walk with Love along the way,
Let childlike trust be yours today;
Uplift your thought, with courage go,
Give of your heart’s rich overflow,
And peace shall crown your joy-filled day.
Come, walk with Love along the way.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:35] Love Of God, The
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.Refrain
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.Refrain
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.Refrain

[Rom 8:35] My Lord, How Full Of Sweet Content
My Lord, how full of sweet content;
I pass my years of banishment!
Where’er I dwell, I dwell with Thee,
In Heaven, in earth, or on the sea.To me remains nor place nor time;
My country is in every clime;
I can be calm and free from care
On any shore, since God is there.While place we seek, or place we shun
The soul finds happiness in none;
But with a God to guide our way,
’Tis equal joy, to go or stay.Could I be cast where Thou are not,
That were indeed a dreadful lot:
But regions none remote I call,
Secure of finding God in all.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Its clouds of care and sorrow;
The golden ray they veil today

His arm our souls enfolding.Refrain
Yes, one in Christ, and He in us,
The hope of endless glory,

His love so freely flowing,
And help them find the land of song

[Rom 8:37] Cross Of Christ! Lead Onward
Cross of Christ! lead onward,
Through the holy war;
In this sign we conquer,
Now and evermore.
Not of man the power,
Not to man the fame;
We are victors only
In our Leader’s Name.Refrain
Cross of Christ! lead onward,
Through the holy war;
In this sign we conquer
Now and evermore.Not with pomp and pageant,
Not in earthly pride;
We must fight our battles
Like the Crucified.
Overcome by suff’ring,
Conquer through defeat;
Tried and tested daily
In the furnace heat.Refrain
Panoplied in graces,
Bold, yet humbly meek;
Resting while we’re working
Strong, but ever weak.
Timid, though courageous,
Gaining as we give;
Crucified with Jesus,
Yet, in Him, we live.Refrain
By a cloud encompassed,
Witnesses above;
Saints, apostles, prophets,
Precious ones we love;
While “advance” is sounding,
Mounts the battle thrill.
Cross of Christ! lead onward
Where the Captain will.Refrain
Marching in the pathway
That the Master trod,
Walks One daily with us
Like the Son of God.
To the end enduring,
Armor ne’er laid down
Till the cross leads upward
To the blood bought crown.Refrain

[Rom 8:37] More Than Conquerors
Through the cleansing blood of the dying Lamb,
Through the pow’r of grace and the precious Name,
Through the light that beams from the Morning Star,
More than conquerors, conquerors we are.Refrain
More than conquerors, more than conquerors,
Through the cleansing blood of the dying Lamb,
More than conquerors! more than conquerors,
Through the pow’r of grace and the precious Name.Who shall sever us from the Savior’s love,
Or shall blot our names from Life’s book above?
Neither present things, nor the things to come,

More than conquerors! There our Captain stands,
While our names are graven upon His hands;
Though the pow’rs of darkness against us frown,
We shall win the fight, and shall wear the crown.Refrain

[Rom 8:38] Nothing Between
Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
Naught of this world’s delusive dream;
I have renounced all sinful pleasure;
Jesus is mine, there’s nothing between.Nothing between, like worldly pleasure;
Habits of life, though harmless they seem;
Must not my heart from Him ever sever;
He is my all, there’s nothing between.Nothing between, like pride or station;
Self or friends shall not intervene;
Though it may cost me much tribulation,
I am resolved, there’s nothing between.Nothing between, e’en many hard trials,
Though the whole world against me convene;
Watching with prayer and much self denial,
I’ll triumph at last, there’s nothing between.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:38] O Love Of God, How Strong And True
O love of God, how strong and true!
Eternal, and yet ever new;
Uncomprehended and unbought,
Beyond all knowledge and all thought.O love of God, how deep and great!
Far deeper than man’s deepest hate;
Self fed, self kindled, like the light,
Changeless, eternal, infinite.O heavenly love, how precious still,
In days of weariness and ill,
In nights of pain and helplessness,
To heal, to comfort, and to bless!O wide embracing, wondrous love!
We read thee in the sky above,
We read thee in the earth below,
In seas that swell, and streams that flow.We read thee best in Him who came
To bear for us the cross of shame;
Sent by the Father from on high,
Our life to live, our death to die.We read thy power to bless and save,
E’en in the darkness of the grave;
Still more in resurrection light,
We read the fullness of thy might.O love of God, our shield and stay
Through all the perils of our way!
Eternal love, in thee we rest
Forever safe, forever blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:39] Far Out On The Desolate Billow
Far out on the desolate billow
The sailor sails the sea,
Alone with the night and the tempest,
Where countless dangers be;
Yet never alone is the Christian,
Who lives by faith and prayer;Refrain
For God is a Friend unfailing,
And God is everywhere.Far down in the earth’s dark bosom
The miner mines the ore;
Death lurks in the dark behind him,
And hides in the rock before.
Yet never alone is the Christian,
Who lives by faith and prayer;Refrain
Forth into the dreadful battle
The steadfast soldier goes;
No friend, when he lies adying,
His eyes to kiss and close.
Yet never alone is the Christian,
Who lives by faith and prayer;Refrain
Lord, grant as we sail life’s ocean,
Or delve in its mines of woe,
Or fight in its terrible conflict,
This comfort all to know,
That never alone is the Christian,
Who lives by faith and prayer;Refrain

[Rom 8:39] Lord, Guard And Guide The Men Who Fly
Lord, guide and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces of the sky;
Be with them traversing the air
In darkening storms or sunshine fair.Thou who dost keep with tender might
The balanced birds in all their flight,
Thou of the tempered winds, be near,
That, having Thee, they know no fear.Control their minds with instinct fit
What time, adventuring, they quit
The firm security of land;
Grant steadfast eye and skillful hand.Aloft in solitudes of space,
Uphold them with Thy saving grace.
O God, protect the men who fly
Through lonely ways beneath the sky.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:39] Love Of The Father
Love of the Father, love of God the Son,
From Whom all came, in Whom was all begun;
Who formest heavenly beauty out of strife,
Creation’s whole desire and breath of life.Thou the all holy, Thou supreme in might,
Thou dost give peace, Thy presence maketh right;
Thou with Thy favor all things dost enfold,
With Thine all kindness free from harm wilt hold.Hope of all comfort, splendor of all aid,
That dost not fail nor leave the heart afraid;
To all that cry Thou dost all help accord,
The angels’ armor, and the saints’ reward.Purest and highest, wisest and most just,
There is no truth, save only in Thy trust;
Thou dost the mind from earthly dreams recall,
And bring through to Christ to Him for whom are all.Eternal glory, all men Thee adore,
Who art and shalt be worshipped evermore;
Us whom Thou madest, comfort with Thy might,
And lead us to enjoy Thy heavenly light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:39] Neither Height, Nor Depth, Nor Breadth
The chords of love bind me above
To One who never changes;
Nor time, nor space can e’er efface,
His boundless love for me.Refrain
Neither height, nor depth, nor breadth, shall separate me
From the love of Him who shed His precious blood;
Neither height, nor depth, nor breadth, shall separate me
From the love of God.Refrain
The price He gave, my soul to save,
Upon the cross of anguish;
The shame and woe, O who can know,
How much He cared for me.Refrain
His love complete, with joys replete,
Supplies my every longing;
It brings no pain, no loss, but gain,
The love He gives to me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:39] Savior Died, But Rose Again, The
The Savior died, but rose again
Triumphant from the grave;
And pleads our cause at God’s right hand,
Omnipotent to save.Who, then, can e’er divide us more
From Jesus and His love;
Or break the sacred chain that binds
The earth to Heav’n above?Let troubles rise, and terrors frown,
And days of darkness fall;
Through Him all dangers we’ll defy,
And more than conquer all.Nor death, nor life, nor earth nor hell,
Nor time’s destroying sway,
Can e’er efface us from His heart,
Or make His love decay.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:39] To Realms Beyond The Sounding Sea
To realms beyond the sounding sea,
Thy hand has led our sons afar;
Lord, give them grace to live for Thee;
Be still their Shield and Guiding Star.Bless with success their daily toils;
Strength for each hour’s demands impart;
With fruitful seasons, genial soils,
O give a grateful, trusting heart.Though exiled from the fatherland,
Its temple-homes of praise and prayer,
May they, on yonder distant strand,
A house for God with gladness rear.There make the places of Thy feet
Most glorious—there Thy grace display;
That myriads thence Thy smile may greet,
When heaven and earth have passed away.Play source: Cyberhymnal
