[Rom 5:8] Gospel Echoes
The Gospel message sent—
Is echoed back again,
From lips in prayer and praise,
And this the sweet refrain:
That Jesus died for me—
Dear Lamb of Calvary.The echo from each heart,
In answer to the call—
Is “Here am I, O Lord—
Lo! at Thy feet I fall;
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
I trust alone in Thee.”Its echoing strains are heard
From palace and from cot—
From lips of age and youth—
His blood can cleanse each spot;
Dear Lamb of Calvary,
I come, I come to Thee.Oh, let the Gospel sound
In all the land abroad,
And send the echo round,
In honor of our Lord—
The Lamb of Calvary,
Has died to ransom Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 5:8] He Just Put Himself In My Place
Shall I tell you what brought me to Jesus,
What caused me to seek His blessèd face?
It was this, that, to save and to cleanse me,
He just put Himself in my place.Refrain
He just put Himself in my place (O bless His Name!)
He just put Himself in my place (O bless His Name!)
This is the Gospel story,
To Jesus the glory,
He just put Himself in my place.O, He felt all my load in the garden,
My guilt He did carry on the tree;
I was lost, and condemned unto judgment,
But my Lord Himself died for me.Refrain
Soon He’s coming again from the glory,
The prophets of God on this agree;
And till then this to others I’m telling,
That for them He died as for me.Refrain

[Rom 5:8] How Bitter-sweet The Mystery
How bitter-sweet the mystery:
Christ Jesus crucified.
Yet, He is not the guilty one,
No sin, though still He dies.Hung on a cross of rugged wood,
Received He from God’s hand,
The penalty, the wage of sin,
Deserved by wicked man.O! Even more hope we shall find
Beyond the death He died.
Consider this, that from the grave
He rose and is alive.For to this end Christ Jesus died
Was raised and lives again;
That He might be the Lord of both
The dead and the living!What glorious day we long await
When Christ His church shall raise.
Since then for all eternity
The Risen One we’ll praise.God demonstrates His love in this:
While we were yet in sin,
Christ Jesus died on our behalf.
We’re saved from wrath through Him!Now sinner, hear! To His grace turn!
Repent, and be forgiv’n—
United with Him in His death;
Alive with Him now ris’n.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 5:8] I Have A Savior
I have a Savior, He died for me
In cruel anguish on Calv’ry’s tree.
I do not merit such love divine,
Only God’s mercy makes Jesus mine.Refrain
Jesus, my Savior, I come to Thee
In full surrender Thine own to be.I have a Keeper, He now prevails,
I fear no evil whate’er assails.
His arms enfold me, safe and secure,
In His blest keeping vict’ry is sure.Refrain
I have a Master, He bids me go
Rescue lost sinners from sin and woe.
I love to serve Him, this Master true,
Now I am willing His will to do.Refrain

[Rom 5:8] I Love To Think Of Jesus
I love to think of Jesus, who else could it be,
Who could come down from Heav’n to save a soul like me?
To think of Him does not repay the debt I owe,
I’ll do my best my gratitude to show.Refrain
I love to think of Jesus and His love for me;
My soul is lost in wonder that such love could be;
I’ve known the love of mother,
Of sister, friend and brother,
Like Jesus there’s no other,
He’s more than all to me.I love to think that He has given me a part
In pardon that He purchased with a broken heart;
And oft my eyes are filled with tears as I recall
What He has done for me, and for us all.Refrain
I love to think of Jesus when I am distressed,
To think upon His promise brings a blissful rest;
In sorrow, pain and anguish He is near I know,
It is no wonder that I love Him so.Refrain
I love to think of Him when tears of sorrow fall,
To know that He has suffered and He knows it all;
It gives me strength to bear my burden nor complain,
I never yet have called to Him in vain.Refrain

[Rom 5:8] O Love Divine, What Hast Thou Done
O Love divine, what hast thou done!
The immortal God hath died for me!
The Father’s co-eternal Son
Bore all my sins upon the tree.
Th’immortal God for me hath died:
My Lord, my Love, is crucified!Is crucified for me and you,
To bring us rebels back to God.
Believe, believe the record true,
Ye all are bought with Jesus’ blood.
Pardon for all flows from His side:
My Lord, my Love, is crucified!Behold and love, ye that pass by,
The bleeding Prince of life and peace!
Come, sinners, see your Savior die,
And say, “Was ever grief like His?”
Come, feel with me His blood applied:
My Lord, my Love, is crucified!Then let us sit beneath His cross,
And gladly catch the healing stream:
All things for Him account but loss,
And give up all our hearts to Him:
Of nothing think or speak beside,
My Lord, my Love, is crucified!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 5:8] Savior, Thy Dying Love
Savior, Thy dying love Thou gavest me.
Nor should I aught withhold, dear Lord, from Thee.
In love my soul would bow, my heart fulfill its vow,
Some offering bring Thee now, something for Thee.O’er the blest mercy seat, pleading for me,
My feeble faith looks up, Jesus, to Thee.
Help me the cross to bear, Thy wondrous love declare,
Some song to raise, or prayer, something for Thee.Give me a faithful heart, likeness to Thee.
That each departing day henceforth may see
Some work of love begun, some deed of kindness done,
Some wanderer sought and won, something for Thee.All that I am and have, Thy gifts so free,
In joy, in grief, through life, O Lord, for Thee!
And when Thy face I see, my ransomed soul shall be
Through all eternity, something for Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 5:8] Take Me As I Am
Jesus, my Lord, to Thee I cry;
Unless Thou help me I must die;
Oh, bring Thy free salvation nigh,
And take me as I am.Refrain
And take me as I am,
And take me as I am,
My only plea—Christ died for me!
Oh, take me as I am.Helpless I am, and full of guilt;
But yet for me Thy blood was spilt,
And Thou canst make me what Thou wilt,
And take me as I am.Refrain
No preparation can I make,
My best resolves I only break,
Yet save me for Thine own Name’s sake,
And take me as I am.Refrain
Behold me, Savior, at Thy feet,
Deal with me as Thou seest meet;
Thy work begin, Thy work complete,
And take me as I am.Refrain

[Rom 5:8] Thy Works, Not Mine, O Christ
Thy works, not mine, O Christ, speak gladness to this heart;
They tell me all is done; they bid my fear depart.
To whom, save Thee, who canst alone
For sin atone, Lord, shall I flee?Thy pains, not mine, O Christ, upon the shameful tree,
Have paid the law’s full price and purchased peace for me.
To whom, save Thee, who canst alone
For sin atone, Lord, shall I flee?Thy cross, not mine, O Christ, has borne the awful load
Of sins that none in Heav’n or earth could bear but God.
To whom, save Thee, who canst alone
For sin atone, Lord, shall I flee?Thy death, not mine, O Christ, has paid the ransom due;
Ten thousand deaths like mine would have been all too few.
To whom, save Thee, who canst alone
For sin atone, Lord, shall I flee?Thy righteousness, O Christ, alone can cover me:
No righteousness avails save that which is of Thee.
To whom, save Thee, who canst alone
For sin atone, Lord, shall I flee?Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 5:8] What Did He Do?
O listen to our wondrous story,
Counted once among the lost;
Yet One came down from Heaven’s glory,
Saving us at awful cost!Refrain
Who saved us from eternal loss?
Who but God’s Son upon the cross?
What did He do?
He died for you!
Where is He now?
In heaven interceding!No angel could His place have taken,
Highest of the high though he;
The loved One on the cross forsaken,
Was One of the Godhead three!Refrain
And yet this wondrous tale proceedeth,
Stirring heart and tongue aflame!
As our High Priest in Heav’n He pleadeth,
And Christ Jesus is His Name!Refrain
Will you surrender to this Savior?
To His scepter humbly bow?
You, too, shall come to know His favor,
He will save you, save you now.Refrain

[Rom 5:8] When Time Seems Short And Death Is Near
When time seems short, and death is near,
And I am pressed by doubt and fear,
And sins, an overflowing tide,
Assail my peace on every side,
This thought my refuge still shall be,
I know my Savior died for me.His name is Jesus, and He died—
For guilty sinners crucified;
Content to die, that He might win
Their ransom from the death of sin.
No sinner worse than I can be,
Therefore I know He died for me.If grace were bought, I could not buy;
If grace were coined, no wealth have I;
By grace alone I draw my breath,
Held up from everlasting death.
Yet since I know His grace is free,
I know the Savior died for me.I read God’s holy Word, and find
Great truths which far transcend my mind
And little do I know beside
Of thought so high and deep and wide.
This is my best theology—
I know the Savior died for me.My faith is weak, but ’tis Thy gift;
Thou canst my helpless soul uplift,
And say, “Thy bonds of death are riv’n,
Thy sins by Me are all forgiv’n,
And thou shalt live, from guilt set free;
For I, thy Savior, died for thee.”Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Rom 6:22] Ye Ransomed Sinners, Hear
Ye ransomed sinners, hear,
The prisoners of the Lord;
And wait till Christ appear
According to His Word.
Rejoice in hope; rejoice with me.
Rejoice in hope; rejoice with me.
We shall from all our sins be free.In God we put our trust:
If we our sins confess,
Faithful He is, and just,
From all unrighteousness
To cleanse us all, both you and me;
To cleanse us all, both you and me;
We shall from all our sins be free.Surely in us the hope
Of glory shall appear;
Sinners, your heads lift up
And see redemption near.
Again I say: rejoice with me.
Again I say: rejoice with me.
We shall from all our sins be free.The Word of God is sure,
And never can remove;
We shall in heart be pure
And perfected in love.
Rejoice in hope; rejoice with me.
Rejoice in hope; rejoice with me.
We shall from all our sins be free.Then let us gladly bring
Our sacrifice of praise;
Let us give thanks and sing
And glory in His grace.
Rejoice in hope; rejoice with me.
Rejoice in hope; rejoice with me.
We shall from all our sins be free.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 6:23] The Woman’s Hymn
Come, women, wide proclaim
Life through your Savior slain;
Sing evermore.
Christ, God’s effulgence bright,
Christ, who arose in might,
Christ, who crowns you with light,
Praise and adore.Come, clasping children’s hands,
Sisters from many lands,
Teach to adore.
For the sin sick and worn,
The weak and overborne,
All who in darkness mourn,
Pray, work, yet more.Work with your courage high,
Sing of the daybreak nigh,
Your love outpour.
Stars shall your brow adorn,
Your heart leap with the morn,
And, by His Love upborne,
Hope and adore.Then when the garnered field
Shall to our Master yield
A bounteous store,
Christ, hope of all the meek,
Christ, whom all the earth shall seek,
Christ your reward shall speak,
Joy evermore.source: Cyberhymnal

[Rom 8:34] Arise, My Soul, Arise
Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears;
The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears:
Before the throne my surety stands,
Before the throne my surety stands,
My name is written on His hands.He ever lives above, for me to intercede;
His all redeeming love, His precious blood, to plead:
His blood atoned for all our race,
His blood atoned for all our race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.Five bleeding wounds He bears; received on Calvary;
They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”The Father hears Him pray, His dear anointed One;
He cannot turn away, the presence of His Son;
His Spirit answers to the blood,
His Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me I am born of God.My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear;
He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear:
With confidence I now draw nigh,
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And “Father, Abba, Father,” cry.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] Father, See Thy Children
Father, see Thy children bending at Thy throne,
Pleading here the Passion of Thine only Son,
Pleading here before Thee all His dying love,
As He pleads it ever in the courts above.Not for our wants only we this Offering plead,
But for all Thy children, who Thy mercy need;
Bless Thy faithful people, win Thy wandering sheep,
Keep the souls departed who in Jesus sleep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] I Am Not Skilled To Understand
I am not skilled to understand
What God hath willed, what God hath planned;
I only know at His right hand
Is One Who is my Savior!I take Him at His word indeed;
“Christ died for sinners”—this I read;
For in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior!That He should leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die,
You count it strange? So once did I,
Before I knew my Savior!And oh, that He fulfilled may see
The travail of His soul in me,
And with His work contented be,
As I with my dear Savior!Yea, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this Spring;
That He Who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] John In Vision Saw The Day
John in vision saw the day
When the Judge will hasten down;
Heav’n and earth shall flee away
From the terror of His frown:Dead and living, small and great,
Raised from the earth and sea;
At His bar shall hear their fate,
What will then become of me?Can I bear His awful looks?
Shall I stand in judgment then,
When I see the opened books,
Written by th’ Almighty’s pen?If He to remembrance bring,
And expose to public view,
Every work and secret thing,
Ah, my soul, what canst thou do?When the list shall be produced
Of the talents I enjoyed;
Means and mercies, how abused!
Time and strength, how misemployed!Conscience then, compelled to read,
Must allow the charge is true;
Say, my soul, what canst thou plead
In that hour, what wilt thou do?But the book of life I see,
May my name be written there!
Then from guilt and danger free,
Glad I’ll meet Him in the air:That’s the book I hope to plead,
’Tis the Gospel opened wide;
Lord, I am a wretch indeed!
I have sinned, but Thou hast died.Now my soul knows what to do;
Thus I shall with boldness stand,
Numbered with the faithful few,
Owned and saved, at Thy right hand:If Thou help a foolish worm
To believe Thy promise now;
Justice will at last confirm
What Thy mercy wrought below.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rom 8:34] O Show Me Not My Savior Dying
O show me not my Savior dying,
As on the cross He bled;
Nor in the tomb, a captive lying,
For He has left the dead.
Then bid me not that form extended
For my Redeemer own,
Who, to the highest heavens ascended,
In glory fills the throne.Weep not for Him at Calvary’s station,
Weep only for thy sins;
View where He lay with exultation,
’Tis there our hope begins.
Yet stay not there, thy sorrows feeding,
Amid the scenes He trod;
Look up, and see Him interceding
At the right hand of God.Still in the shameful cross I glory,
Where His dear blood was spilt:
His shameful cross, set forth before me,
Hath canceled all my guilt.
Yet what, ’mid conflict and temptation,
Shall strength and honor give?
He lives, the Captain of Salvation,
Therefore His servants live.By death, He death’s dark king defeated,
And overcame the grave:
Rising, the triumph He completed;
He lives, he reigns to save.
Heaven’s happy myriads bow before Him:
He comes, the Judge of men:
These eyes shall see Him, and adore Him,
Lord Jesus, own me then.Play source: Cyberhymnal

Far out on the desolate billow
The sailor sails the sea,
Alone with the night and the tempest,
Where countless dangers be;

Who lives by faith and prayer;Refrain
For God is a Friend unfailing,

The balanced birds in all their flight,
Thou of the tempered winds, be near,

From Jesus and His love;
Or break the sacred chain that binds
The earth to Heav’n above?Let troubles rise, and terrors frown,

[Rom 8:39] To Realms Beyond The Sounding Sea
To realms beyond the sounding sea,
Thy hand has led our sons afar;
Lord, give them grace to live for Thee;
Be still their Shield and Guiding Star.Bless with success their daily toils;
Strength for each hour’s demands impart;
With fruitful seasons, genial soils,
O give a grateful, trusting heart.Though exiled from the fatherland,
Its temple-homes of praise and prayer,

A house for God with gladness rear.There make the places of Thy feet
Most glorious—there Thy grace display;
That myriads thence Thy smile may greet,
When heaven and earth have passed away.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Rom 11:23] Thou, The Christ Forever One
Thou, the Christ forever one,
Mary’s Child and Israel’s God,
Daniel’s Prince and David’s Son,
Jacob’s Star and Jesse’s Rod,
Thou of Whom of the prophets spake,
Thou in Whom their words came true,
Hear the pleading prayer we make,
Hear the Gentile for the Jew!Knowing what the Spirit saith,
Sure of Thee, our Christ divine,
Lo, we stand, by right of faith,
Heirs of Abraham’s chartered line;
Can we then his sons forget,
Branches severed from their tree,
Exiles from their homes, and yet
Kinsmen, Lord, in flesh to Thee?Though the Blood betrayed and spilt,
On the race entailed a doom,
Let its virtue cleanse the guilt,
Melt the hardness, chase the gloom;
Lift the veil from off their heart,
Make them Israelites indeed,
Meet once more for lot and part
With Thy household’s genuine seed.Thou that didst Thy dews outpour,
Crowning alien grafts with fruit,
Soon the native growths restore,
Making glad the parent root:
Ah! but let not pride ensnare
Souls that need to mourn their sin;
Still the boughs adopted spare,
And the outcasts—graft them in!Speed the day of union sweet
When with us in faith allied,
Israel’s heart shall turn to greet
Thee, whom Israel crucified;
Thee, in all Thy truth and grace,
Owned at last as Salem’s King,
While her children find their place,
Gathered safe beneath Thy wing.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Rom 11:33] Lord, My Weak Thought In Vain Would Climb
Lord, my weak thought in vain would climb
To search the starry vault profound;
In vain would wing her flight sublime
To find creation’s utmost bound.But weaker yet that thought must prove
To search Thy great eternal plan,
Thy sovereign counsels, born of love
Long ages ere the world began.When my dim reason would demand
Why that, or this, Thou dost ordain,
By some vast deep I seem to stand,
Whose secrets I must ask in vain.When doubts disturb my troubled breast,
And all is dark as night to me,
Here, as on solid rock, I rest—
That so it seemeth good to Thee.Be this my joy, that evermore
Thou rulest all things at Thy will;
Thy sovereign wisdom I adore,

Thy glory fills both earth and sky;
We, and all thy creatures, are
As nothing in Thine eyes.Of Thy great unbounded power
To Thee the praise we give,
Infinitely great, and more
Than heart can e’er conceive:
When Thou wilt to work proceed,
Thy purpose firm none can withstand,
Frustrate the determined deed,
Or stay the almighty hand.Thou, our God, art wise alone;

Wonderful Thy works we own,
Thy ways unsearchable;
