Romans 1:12

1:12 that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith, 1  both yours and mine.

15:5 Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another 7  in accordance with Christ Jesus, 15:6 so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 tn Grk “that is, to be comforted together with you through the faith in one another.”

2 tn Grk “not according to grace but according to obligation.”

3 tn Or “but give yourselves to menial tasks.” The translation depends on whether one takes the adjective “lowly” as masculine or neuter.

4 tn Grk “Do not be wise in your thinking.”

5 tn Grk “over opinions.” The qualifier “differing” has been supplied to clarify the meaning.

6 tn Grk “by men”; but ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") is generic here (“people”) since the contrast in context is between God and humanity.

7 tn Grk “grant you to think the same among one another.”
