• [Rev 3:5] Farewell I Gladly Bid Thee

  Farewell I gladly bid thee, False, evil world, farewell. Thy life is vain and sinful, With thee I would not dwell. I long to be in Heaven, In that untroubled sphere Where they will be rewarded Who served their God while here. By Thy good counsel lead me, O Son of God, my Stay; In each perplexing trial Help me, O Lord, I pray. Mine hour of sorrow shorten, Support my fainting heart, From every cross deliver, The crown of life impart. When darkness round me gathers, Thy Name and cross, still bright, Deep in my heart are sparkling Like stars in blackest night. O heart, this image cherish: The Christ on Calvary, How patiently He suffered And shed His blood for me! Lord, hide my soul securely, Deep in Thy wounded side; From every danger shield me And to Thy glory guide. He has been truly blessèd Who reaches Heav’n above; He has found perfect healing Who rests upon Thy love. Lord, write my name, I pray Thee, Now in the Book of Life And with all true believers Take me where joys are rife. There let me bloom and flourish, Thy perfect freedom prove, And tell, as I adore Thee, How faithful was Thy love.

• [Rev 3:12] King Of The City Splendid

  King of the City Splendid, Eternal in the height, May all our country’s cities Grow holy in Thy sight; Cleansed from the deeds of darkness— Cities of light. Teach love to gladden children That know not childhood’s mirth, Wronged of their rights—no beauty In their scant reach of earth; To hope’s large sunshine give them A second birth. Give joy to all the joyless, Song’s voice to sorrows dumb, May light invade with blessing Each dark and deathly slum; Into earth’s realms of horror Thy Kingdom come! Soon may our country’s cities Thy robe of glory wear; Each place of toil a temple, Each house a home of prayer; Each city’s name of beauty— The Lord is there!

• [Rev 3:12] O What Their Joy And Their Glory Must Be

  O what their joy and their glory must be, Those endless Sabbaths the blessèd ones see; Crown for the valiant, to weary ones, rest; God shall be all, and in all ever blessed. What are the Monarch, His court, and His throne? What are the peace and the joy that they own? O that the blessed ones, who in it have share, All that they feel could as fully declare! Truly, “Jerusalem” name we that shore, City of peace that brings joy evermore; Wish and fulfillment are not severed there, Nor do things prayed for come short of the prayer. There, where no troubles distraction can bring, We the sweet anthems of Zion shall sing; While for Thy grace, Lord, their voices of praise Thy blessèd people eternally raise. There dawns no Sabbath, no Sabbath is o’er, Those Sabbath keepers have one evermore; One and unending is that triumph song Which to the angels and us shall belong. Now, in the meanwhile, with hearts raised on high, We for that country must yearn and must sigh; Seeking Jerusalem, dear native land, Through our long exile on Babylon’s strand. Low before Him with our praises we fall, Of Whom, and in Whom, and through Whom are all; Of Whom, the Father; and in Whom, the Son, Through Whom, the Spirit, with Them ever One.

• [Rev 3:21] Ruler Of The Hosts Of Light

  Ruler of the hosts of light, Death hath yielded to Thy might; And Thy blood hath marked a road Which will lead us back to God. From Thy dwelling place above, From Thy Father’s throne of love, With Thy look of mercy bless Those without Thee comfortless. Bitter were Thy throes on earth, Giving to the Church her birth From the spear wound opening wide In Thine own life giving side. Now in glory Thou dost reign Won by all Thy toil and pain; Thence the promised Spirit send While our prayers to Thee ascend. Jesu, praise to Thee be giv’n With the Father high in Heav’n; Holy Spirit, praise to Thee, Now and through eternity.

• [Rev 3:21] Soldiers, Who Are Christ’s Below

  Soldiers, who are Christ’s below, Strong in faith resist the foe: Boundless is the pledged reward Unto them who serve the Lord. ’Tis no palm of fading leaves That the conqueror’s hand receives; Joys are his, serene and pure, Light that ever shall endure. For the souls that overcome, Waits the beauteous heavenly home, Where the blessèd evermore Tread, on high, the starry floor. Passing soon and little worth Are the things that tempt on earth; Heavenward lift thy soul’s regard; God Himself is thy Reward. Father, who the crown dost give, Savior, by whose death we live, Spirit, who our hearts dost raise, Three in One, Thy Name we praise.

  Overcoming evil day by day, This our warfare on the Christian way; Yet unto those that faithful endure, God has declared that His promise is sure. Refrain They that overcome, thus saith He, They that overcome, blessèd shall be; They that overcome the world and sin, Life and a crown in His kingdom shall win. Tho’ we suffer tribulation here, Tho’ our crosses oft may seem severe, Think of the joy when trials are past, Strong in the Lord we shall conquer at last.
