Revelation 3:20
-
[Rev 3:20] Behold, A Stranger At The Door!
Behold, a Stranger at the door!
He gently knocks, has knocked before,
Has waited long, is waiting still:
You treat no other friend so ill.O lovely attitude! He stands
With melting heart and laden hands;
O matchless kindness! and He shows
This matchless kindness to His foes.But will He prove a Friend indeed?
He will; the very Friend you need;
The Friend of sinners—yes, ’tis He,
With garments dyed on Calvary.Rise, touched with gratitude divine;
Turn out His enemy and thine,
That soul destroying monster, sin,
And let the heavenly Stranger in.Admit Him, for the human breast
Ne’er entertained so kind a Guest;
No mortal tongue their joys can tell
With whom He condescends to dwell.Sovereign of souls, Thou Prince of Peace,
O may Thy gentle reign increase:
Throw wide the door, each willing mind;
And be His empire all mankind.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rev 3:20] Behold Me Standing At The Door
Behold Me standing at the door,
And hear Me pleading evermore,
With gentle voice: oh, heart of sin,
May I come in? May I come in?Refrain
Behold Me standing at the door,
And hear Me pleading evermore:
Say, weary heart, oppressed with sin,
May I come in? May I come in?I bore the cruel thorns for thee,
I waited long and patiently;
Say, weary heart, oppressed with sin,
May I come in? May I come in?Refrain
I would not plead with thee in vain;
Remember all My grief and pain;
I died to ransom thee from sin:
May I come in? May I come in?Refrain
I bring thee joy from Heav’n above,
I bring thee pardon, peace, and love:
Say, weary heart, oppressed with sin,
May I come in? May I come in?Refrain

Come in, come in, O blessèd One;
My heart is all Thine own;
Here make Thy constant dwelling place,
Thy temple and Thy throne.Refrain
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
For the grace that makes me free;
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, Lord, to Thee.Come in, come in, O blessèd One;
Thou King of kings divine;
My life, my will, my ev’ry pow’r,
Without reserve are Thine.Refrain
Come in, come in, O blessèd One;
Whose Name the angels praise,
While mortal tongues in humbler strains,
Their grateful tribute raise.Refrain
Come in, O Sun of righteousness,
And Source of endless day,
Thou Lamb of God, whose cleansing blood
Has washed my sins away.Refrain

[Rev 3:20] Come In, O Come!
Come in, O come! the door stands open now;
I knew Thy voice, Lord Jesus, it was Thou;
The sun has set long since, the storms begin;
’Tis time for Thee, my Savior, O come in!Alas, ill ordered shows the dreary room;
The household stuff lies heaped amidst the gloom,
The table empty stands, the couch undressed;
Ah, what a welcome for th’Eternal Guest!Yet welcome, and tonight this doleful scene
Is e’en itself my cause to hail Thee in;
This dark confusion e’en at once demands
Thine own bright presence, Lord, and ord’ring hands.I seek no more to alter things, or mend,
Before the coming of so great a Friend;
All were at best unseemly, and ’twere ill
Beyond all else to keep Thee waiting still.Come, not to find, but make this troubled heart
A dwelling worthy of Thee as Thou art;
To chase the gloom, the terror, and the sin:
Come, all Thyself, yea come, Lord Jesus, in!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rev 3:20] Come, Let Us Who In Christ Believe
Come, let us, who in Christ believe,
Our common Savior praise,
To Him with joyful voices give
The glory of His grace.He now stands knocking at the door
Of every sinner’s heart;
The worst need keep Him out no more,
Or force Him to depart.Through grace we hearken to Thy voice,
Yield to be saved from sin;
In sure and certain hope rejoice,
That Thou wilt enter in.Come quickly in, Thou heavenly Guest,
Nor ever hence remove;
But sup with us, and let the feast
Be everlasting love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rev 3:20] Father, Thou Art Calling
Father, Thou art calling, calling to us plainly;
To the spirit comes Thy loving message evermore;
Holy One, uplift us, nor forever vainly
Stand calling us and waiting at the door.In the whirling tempest and the storm Thou livest,
In the rain, and in the sweetness of the afterglow;
Summer’s golden bounty, winter’s snow, Thou givest,
And blooming meadows where sweet waters flow.Clearer still and dearer is Thy voice appealing,
Deep within the spirit’s secret being speaking low:
Enter, O our Father! truth and life revealing;
From every evil free us as we go.In Thee living, moving, unto Thee uprearing
All the hope and joyfulness and trust that fill the soul,
Father, we adore Thee, asking naught nor fearing;
We cannot wander from Thy dear control.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Rev 3:20] God Calling Yet
God calling yet; shall I not hear?
Earth’s pleasures shall I still hold dear?
Shall life’s swift passing years all fly,
And still my soul in slumber lie?God calling yet; shall I not rise?
Can I His loving voice despise,
And basely His kind care repay?
He calls me still—can I delay?God calling yet, and shall He knock,
And I my heart the closer lock?
He still is waiting to receive,
And shall I dare His Spirit grieve?Ah, yield Him all; in Him confide;
Where but with Him doth peace abide?
Break loose, let earthly bonds be riven,
And let the spirit rise to heaven.God calling yet; and shall I give
No heed, but still in bondage live?
I wait, but He does not forsake;
He calls me still—my heart, awake!God calling yet; I cannot stay;
My heart I yield without delay;
Vain world, farewell! from thee I part;
The voice of God hath reached my heart.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

As He knocks and asks admission,
Sinners, will you let Him in?Refrain
Room for Jesus, King of Glory!
Hasten now His Word obey;
Swing the heart’s door widely open,
Bid Him enter while you may.Room for pleasure, room for business,
But for Christ the Crucified,
Not a place that He can enter,
In the heart for which He died?Refrain
Have you any room for Jesus,
As in grace He calls again?
O today is time accepted,
Tomorrow you may call in vain.Refrain

He will cleanse and keep it ever
Whiter than the snow.If any man now will hear His voice,

Knocking, knocking, who is there?
Waiting, waiting, oh, how fair!
’Tis a Pilgrim, strange and kingly,
Never such was seen before,
Ah, my soul, for such a wonder,
Wilt thou not undo the door?Knocking, knocking! still He’s there:
Waiting, waiting, wondrous fair!
But the door is hard to open
For the weeds and ivy vine,
With their dark and clinging tendrils,
Ever round the hinges twine.Knocking, knocking—what, still there?
Waiting, waiting, grand and fair!
Yes, the piercèd hand still knocketh,
And beneath the crownèd hair
Beam the patient eyes, so tender,
Of thy Savior waiting there.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

To thy barred and bolted door,
Gently as a wooing dove,
Jesus comes as oft before,
Pleading in His tender love.Refrain
Let Him in; let Him in;
Sinner, why not make Him room?
Let Him in; let Him in;
Lest He never more may come.Haste and open wide the door,
Banish ev’ry thought of sin;
Why refuse and grieve Him more;
Quickly rise and let Him in.Refrain
He a royal feast will spread,
He will bring a boundless store;
Thou shalt taste “The Living Bread,”
And be blest forevermore.Refrain
He is knocking, waiting still;
Why in madness yet delay?
Why refuse His mercy till
He aggrieved shall turn away?Refrain

O shame, thrice shame upon us, to keep Him standing there!O Jesus, Thou art knocking; and lo, that hand is scarred,
And thorns Thy brow encircle, and tears Thy face have marred:
O love that passeth knowledge, so patiently to wait!
O sin that hath no equal, so fast to bar the gate!O Jesus, Thou art pleading in accents meek and low,
“I died for you, My children, and will you treat Me so?”
O Lord, with shame and sorrow we open now the door;
Dear Savior, enter, enter, and leave us nevermore.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

How can my heart so ungrateful be? Shall I be saved tonight?
Now He will save me by grace divine. Now, if I will, I can call Him mine.
Can I the pleasures of earth resign? Oh shall I be saved tonight?Jesus is knocking at my poor heart, shall I be saved tonight?
What if His Spirit should now depart? Shall I be saved tonight?
