Revelation 2:4

Context
2:4 But I have this against you: You have departed 1  from your first love!

Revelation 9:12

Context

9:12 The first woe has passed, but 2  two woes are still coming after these things!

Revelation 13:12

Context
13:12 He 3  exercised all the ruling authority 4  of the first beast on his behalf, 5  and made the earth and those who inhabit it worship the first beast, the one whose lethal wound had been healed.

1 tn The Greek word translated “departed from” (ἀφίημι, afihmi; L&N 15.48) can actually be used of divorce (L&N 34.78), so the imagery here is very strong.

2 tn Grk “behold.” Here ἰδού (idou) has been translated as “but” to indicate the contrast present in the context.

3 tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

4 tn For the translation “ruling authority” for ἐξουσία (exousia) see L&N 37.35.

5 tn For this meaning see BDAG 342 s.v. ἐνώπιον 4.b, “by the authority of, on behalf of Rv 13:12, 14; 19:20.”
