• [Psa 78:39] Days And Moments Quickly Flying

  Days and moments quickly flying Blend the living with the dead; Soon our bodies will be lying Each within its narrow bed. Soon our souls to God Who gave them Will have sped their rapid flight: Able now by grace to save them, O that, while we can, we might! Jesus, infinite Redeemer, Maker of this mighty frame, Teach, O teach us to remember What we are, and whence we came. Whence we came and whither wending, Soon we must through darkness go, To inherit bliss unending, Or eternity of woe. Jesus, merciful Redeemer, Rouse dead souls to hear Thy voice; Wake, O wake each idle dreamer Now to make the eternal choice. As a shadow, life is fleeting; As a vapor so it flies; For the old year now retreating Pardon grant, and make us wise; Wise that we our days may number, Strive and wrestle with our sin, Say not in our work, nor slumber Till Thy glorious rest we win. Soon before the Judge all glorious We with all the dead shall stand: Savior, over death victorious, Place us then on Thy right hand.

• [Psa 104:19] Seasons Are Fixed By Wisdom Divine, The

  The seasons are fixed by wisdom divine, The slow-changing moon show forth God’s design; The sun in his circuit his Maker obeys, And running his journey hastes not nor delays. The Lord makes the night, when, leaving their lair, The lions creep forth, God’s bounty to share; The Lord makes the morning, when beasts steal away And men are beginning the work of the day. How many and wise Thy works are, O Lord! The earth with the wealth of wisdom is stored; The sea bears in safety the ships to and fro, And creatures unnumbered it shelters below. Thy creatures all look to Thee for their food; Thy hands open wide, they gather the good; Thy face Thou concealest, in anguish they yearn; Their breath Thou withholdest, to dust they return. Thy Spirit, O Lord, makes life to abound, The earth is renewed, and fruitful the ground; To God ascribe glory and wisdom and might, Let God in His creatures forever delight. Before the Lord’s might earth trembles and quakes, The mountains are rent, and smoke from them breaks; The Lord I will worship through all of my days, Yea, while I have being my God I will praise. Rejoicing in God, my thought shall be sweet, While sinners depart in ruin complete; My soul, bless Jehovah, His Name be adored, Come, praise Him, ye people, and worship the Lord.

  Thou, who didst make and fashion me, O make me wise Thy law to learn; Then they that fear Thee shall be glad When they my hope in God discern. Thou, Lord, art just in all Thy ways, And faithful when Thou chastenest me; I pray Thee, let Thy promised grace Thy servant’s help and comfort be. Show mercy, Lord, that I may live, For in Thy law is all my joy; While those who wrong me are rebuked, Thy precepts shall my thought employ. Let those that fear Thee turn to me, Thy truth to them will I proclaim; Instruct my heart to keep Thy law, That I may not be put to shame.

  O Lord, life is sacred, a gift from above; Each person is worthy of honor and love. Your works are so marvelous, we’re wonderfully made; We each bear Your image, conception to grave. Your hands shaped and formed us before we took breath; You knit us together and clothed us with flesh. You give us our life and ordain all our days; Your works, Lord, are wonderful; we lift our hearts in praise. Upheld since conception and carried since birth, To old age and hair of gray, we’re still of great worth. We still bear Your likeness, the stamp of Your hand; You made us in Jesus for all the works you planned. And so, may we honor each person we meet; The kindness You’ve shown us, we wish to repeat From children to agèd—we’ll serve them in Your Name; As You honor us, O Lord, we pledge to do the same.

• [Psa 146:6] O Maker Of The Sea And Sky

  O Maker of the sea and sky, Whose word the stormy winds fulfill, On the wide ocean Thou art nigh, Bidding these hearts of ours be still. What if Thy footsteps are not known? W know Thy way is in the sea; We trace the shadow of Thy throne, Constant amid inconstancy. Thou bidd’st the north or south wind blow; The lonely sea bird is Thy care; And in the clouds which come and go, We see Thy chariots everywhere. The sun that lights the homeland dear Spreads the new morning o’er the deep; And in the dark Thy stars appear, Keeping their watches while we sleep. And so, secure from all alarms, Thy seas beneath, Thy skies above, Clasped in the everlasting arms, We rest in Thine unslumbering love.
