Psalms 9:11

9:11 Sing praises to the Lord, who rules 1  in Zion!

Tell the nations what he has done! 2 

Psalms 35:12

35:12 They repay me evil for the good I have done; 3 

I am overwhelmed with sorrow. 4

1 tn Heb “sits” (i.e., enthroned, and therefore ruling – see v. 4). Another option is to translate as “lives” or “dwells.”

2 tn Heb “declare among the nations his deeds.”

3 tn Heb “they repay me evil instead of good.”

4 tn Heb “[there is] bereavement to my soul.”

5 tn Heb “because you acted.” The psalmist has in mind God’s disciplinary measures (see vv. 10-13).

6 tn Heb “his deeds.”

7 tn Heb “his hand,” symbolizing his saving activity and strength, as the next line makes clear.

8 tn Heb “[the] day [in] which he ransomed them from [the] enemy.”

9 tn Heb “his works.”

10 tn Heb “his counsel.”

11 tn Heb “and let them proclaim his works with a ringing cry.”

12 tn Heb “the works of the Lord.”
