  My God, in Whom are all the springs Of boundless love, and grace unknown, Hide me beneath Thy spreading wings, Till the dark cloud is overblown. Up to the heav’ns I send my cry, The Lord will my desires perform; He sends His angel from the sky, And saves me from the threat’ning storm. Be Thou exalted, O my God, Above the heav’ns, where angels dwell; Thy power on earth be known abroad, And land to land Thy wonders tell. My heart is fixed; my song shall raise Immortal honors to Thy Name; Awake, my tongue, to sound His praise, My tongue, the glory of my frame. High o’er the earth His mercy reigns, And reaches to the utmost sky; His truth to endless years remains, When lower worlds dissolve and die.

  O God, be merciful to me, My soul for refuge comes to Thee, Beneath Thy wings I safe will stay, Until these troubles pass away. To God Most High shall rise my prayer, To God Who makes my wants His care, From Heav’n He will salvation send, And me from every foe defend. Great foes and fierce my soul alarm, Inflamed with rage and strong to harm, But God, from Heav’n His dwelling place, Will rescue me with truth and grace. Be Thou, O God, exalted high, Yea, far above the starry sky, And let Thy glory be displayed O’er all the earth Thy hands have made. My soul is grieved because my foes With treacherous plans my way enclose; But from the snares that they devise Their own undoing shall arise. My heart is steadfast, O my King, My heart is tuned Thy praise to sing; Awake, my soul, and swell the song, Let vibrant harp the notes prolong. Yea, I will early wake and sing, A thankful hymn to Thee will bring, For unto Heav’n Thy mercies rise, Thy truth is lofty as the skies. Be Thou, O God, exalted high, Yea, far above the starry sky, And let Thy glory be displayed O’er all the earth Thy hands have made.

  Spirit of mercy, truth and love, O shed Thine influence from above, And still from age to age convey The wonders of this sacred day. In every clime, by every tongue, Be God’s amazing glory sung; Let all the listening earth be taught The wonders by our Savior wrought.   Sing, ye ransomed nations, sing Praises to our new-born King; Son of Man our Maker is, Lord of Hosts and Prince of Peace. Lo! He lays His glory by, Emptied of His majesty! See the God Who all things made, Humbly in a manger laid. Cast we off our needless fear, Boldly to His cratch draw near; Jesus is our flesh and bone, God-with-Us is all our own. Let us then with angels gaze On our new-born Monarch’s face, With the choir celestial joined, Shout the Savior of mankind. Son of Man, will He despise Man’s well meaning sacrifice? No; with condescending grace He accepts His creature’s praise. Will His majesty disdain The poor shepherd’s simple strain? No; for Israel’s Shepherd He Loves their artless melody. He will not refuse the song Of the stammering infant’s tongue; Babes He hears humanely mild, Once Himself a little Child. Let us then our Prince proclaim, Humbly chant Immanuel’s Name; Publish at His wondrous birth Praise in Heaven and peace on earth. Triumph in our Savior’s love, Till He takes us up above, All His majesty displays, Shows us all His glorious face.

  In boundless mercy, gracious Lord, appear, Darkness dispel, the humble mourner cheer; Vain thoughts remove, melt down the flinty heart, Draw every soul to choose the better part. Thy presence fills the universal space, Thy grace appears to all the human race, Oh! visit us with light and life divine, Fill every soul, for every soul is Thine. Thou, blessèd Jesus, art my Lord, my Love: Thou art my King: from Thee I would not move, Hence earthly charms, far, far, from me depart, Nor seek to draw from my dear Lord my heart. That uncreated beauty, which has gained My ravished heart, has all my glory stained: Thy loveliness my soul has prepossessed, And left no room for any other guest.

  Do ye, O men, speak righteousness And upright judgment mete? Nay, in your hearts is wickedness, And in your hands deceit, And in your hands deceit. The wicked, from their earliest days, In sin are gone astray, With froward heart, in foolish pride, From wisdom turned away, From wisdom turned away. The God of vengeance will destroy The wicked from His sight; The Lord will bring to naught their power And scatter all their might, And scatter all their might. The good shall triumph and rejoice, And this shall be confessed: On earth the God of justice reigns, And righteousness is blest, And righteousness is blest.
