55:14 We would share personal thoughts with each other; 1 

in God’s temple we would walk together among the crowd.

Psalms 73:5

73:5 They are immune to the trouble common to men;

they do not suffer as other men do. 2 

Psalms 105:44

105:44 He handed the territory of nations over to them,

and they took possession of what other peoples had produced, 3 

Psalms 111:6

111:6 He announced that he would do mighty deeds for his people,

giving them a land that belonged to other nations. 4 

Psalms 147:20

Context

147:20 He has not done so with any other nation;

they are not aware of his regulations.

1 tn Heb “who together we would make counsel sweet.” The imperfect verbal forms here and in the next line draw attention to the ongoing nature of the actions (the so-called customary use of the imperfect). Their relationship was characterized by such intimacy and friendship. See IBHS 502-3 §31.2b.

2 tn Heb “in the trouble of man they are not, and with mankind they are not afflicted.”

3 tn Heb “and the [product of the] work of peoples they possessed.”

4 tn Heb “the strength of his deeds he proclaimed to his people, to give to them an inheritance of nations.”
