1 tn The prefixed verbal form is a preterite (without vav [ו] consecutive).

2 tn Heb “a proverb,” or “[the subject of] a mocking song.”

3 tn Heb “a shaking of the head among the peoples.” Shaking the head was a derisive gesture (see Jer 18:16; Lam 2:15).

4 tn Heb “and I am estranged to my brothers, and a foreigner to the sons of my mother.”

5 tn Heb “I am considered with.”

6 tn Heb “the pit.” The noun בּוֹר (bor, “pit,” “cistern”) is sometimes used of the grave and/or the realm of the dead.

7 tn Heb “I am like a man [for whom] there is no help.”
