Psalms 50:4
-
[Psa 50:4] Lord, The Sovereign, Sends His Summons Forth, The
The Lord, the Sovereign, sends His summons forth,
Calls the south nations and awakes the north;
From east to west the sounding orders spread,
Through distant worlds and regions of the dead:
No more shall atheists mock His long delay;
His vengeance sleeps no more: behold the day!Behold, the Judge descends, His guards are nigh;
Tempest and fire attend Him down the sky:
Heav’n, earth, and hell, draw near; let all things come
To hear His justice, and the sinner’s doom:
“But gather first My saints,” the Judge commands,
“Bring them, ye angels, from their distant lands.“Behold, My cov’nant stands for ever good,
Sealed by th’ eternal Sacrifice in blood,
And signed with all their names; the Greek, the Jew,
That paid the ancient worship or the new,
There’s no distinction here; come, spread their thrones,
And near Me seat My fav’rites and My sons.“I, their Almighty Savior and their God,
I am their Judge: ye heav’ns, proclaim abroad
My just eternal sentence, and declare
Those awful truths that sinners dread to hear:
Sinners in Zion, tremble and retire;
I doom the painted hypocrite to fire.“Not for the want of goats or bullocks slain
Do I condemn thee; bulls and goats are vain
Without the flames of love; in vain the store
Of brutal off’rings that were Mine before;
Mine are the tamer beasts and savage breed,
Flocks, herds, and fields and forests where they feed.“If I were hungry, would I ask thee food?
When did I thirst, or drink thy bullocks’ blood?
Can I be flattered with thy cringing bows,
Thy solemn chatt’rings and fantastic vows?
Are My eyes charmed thy vestments to behold,
Glaring in gems, and gay in woven gold?“Unthinking wretch! how couldst thou hope to please
A God, a Spirit, with such toys as these,
While, with My grace and statutes on thy tongue,
Thou lov’st deceit, and dost thy brother wrong?
In vain to pious forms thy zeal pretends,
Thieves and adulterers are thy chosen friends.“Silent I waited with long-suff’ring love,
But didst thou hope that I should ne’er reprove?
And cherish such an impious thought within,
That God, the Righteous, would indulge thy sin?
Behold My terrors now: My thunders roll,
And thy own crimes affright thy guilty soul.”Sinners, awake betimes; ye fools, be wise;
Awake before this dreadful morning rise;
Change your vain thoughts, your crooked works amend,
Fly to the Savior, make the Judge your friend
Lest, like a lion, His last vengeance tear
Your trembling souls, and no deliv’rer near.source: Cyberhymnal

[Psa 60:4] Banner Of The Cross, The
There’s a royal banner given for display
To the soldiers of the King;
As an ensign fair we lift it up today,
While as ransomed ones we sing.Refrain
Marching on, marching on,
For Christ count everything but loss!
And to crown Him King, we’ll toil and sing,
’Neath the banner of the cross!Though the foe may rage and gather as the flood,
Let the standard be displayed;
And beneath its folds, as soldiers of the Lord,
For the truth be not dismayed!Refrain
Over land and sea, wherever man may dwell,
Make the glorious tidings known;
Of the crimson banner now the story tell,
While the Lord shall claim His own!Refrain
When the glory dawns—’tis drawing very near,
It is hastening day by day—
Then before our King the foe shall disappear,
And the cross the world shall sway!Refrain

The Christian Flag! behold it,
And hail it with a song,
And let the voice of millions
The joyful strain prolong,
To every clime and nation,
We send it forth today;
God speed its glorious mission,
With earnest hearts we pray.Refrain
The Christian Flag! behold it,
And hail it with a song,
And let the voice of millions
The joyful strain prolong.The Christian Flag! unfurl it,
That all the world may see
The bloodstained cross of Jesus,
Who died to make us free.
The Christian Flag! unfurl it,
And o’er and o’er again,
Oh! may it bear the message,
“Good will and peace to men.”Refrain
The Christian Flag! God bless it!
Now throw it to the breeze,
And may it wave triumphant
O’er land and distant seas,
Till all the wide creation
Upon its folds shall gaze,
And all the world united,
Our loving Savior praise.Refrain

[Psa 60:4] Hold Up The Banner
Hold up the banner of the Lord,
And let it ne’er be taken;
Sound forth the message of His Word
To all of hope forsaken.
Hold up the banner where He leads,
Nor once forget the world’s great needs;
To grander faith awaken.Hold up the cross of Christ the Lord,
Before the lost and dying;
Tell them to look, e’er point them t’ward Him,
Who Himself denying,
Gave His great life from love of us,
And suffered on the cruel cross,
To cure all sin and sighing.Hold up the Word of Christ the Lord,
The Word of consolation;
Glad news of peace—once lost—restored;
Of help in each temptation.
Hence let the light shine far away,
That all who in deep error stray,
From sin may find salvation.Go on, true children of the Lord,
From grace to grace go onward;
God’s host will constant help afford,
Our Captain’s word is “forward.”
Never to sloth or fear give way,
In work and prayer, each golden day,
Go onward, forward, heav’nward.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 60:4] Keep Your Colors Flying
Keep your colors flying,
All ye Christian youth,
To Christ’s call replying,
Full of grace and truth.
Rise in strength and beauty,
In life’s morning glow,
Answer to each duty,
Onward, upward go.Refrain
Keep your colors flying,
Stand for God and truth,
Keep your colors flying,
All ye Christian youth.Life is all before you
Where to choose your way,
Keep Christ’s colors o’er you;
Watch and fight and pray,
With a firm endeavor,
Ev’ry foe defy,
True to Jesus ever,
Lift your colors high.Refrain
Keep your colors flying,
Never think of ease;
Sin and self denying,
Jesus only please.
Not for worldly pleasure,
Not for worldly fame,
Not for heaps of treasure,
Live for Jesus’ Name!Refrain
Keep your colors flying,
Walk as Jesus did;
In Him living, dying,
Let your life be hid;
Hoping, trusting, ever,
Breathe this mortal breath;
You shall live forever,
Christ has conquered death.Refrain

[Psa 60:4] Now Be The Gospel Banner
Now be the Gospel banner
In every land unfurled,
And be the shout, Hosanna!
Re-echoed through the world;
Till every isle and nation,
Till every tribe and tongue,
Receive the great salvation,
And join the happy throng.What though the embattled legions,
Of earth and hell combine,
His arm throughout their regions
Shall soon resplendent shine;
Ride on, O Lord, victorious,
Immanuel, Prince of Peace,
Thy triumph shall be glorious,
Thy empire still increase.Yes, Thou shalt reign forever,
O Jesus, King of kings,
Thy light, Thy love, Thy favor,
Each ransomed captive sings;
The isles for Thee are waiting,
The deserts learn Thy praise;
The hills and valleys greeting,
The song responsive raise.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Psa 119:33] Carry Your Bible
Carry your Bible with you,
Let all its blessings outflow;
It will supply you each moment—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain
Take it wherever you go,
Take it wherever you go,
God’s message of love
Sent down from above,
Oh, take it wherever you go!Carry the word of pardon,
Sweeter each day it will grow;
Somewhere some heart will be waiting—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain
Carry the wondrous story,
Tell it to hearts plunged in woe;
This word of gracious redemption—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain
Carry the word of promise;
Sinners unpardoned may know
God’s path from sin unto safety—
Take it wherever you go!Refrain

[Psa 119:33] My Mother’s Bible (morris)
This book is all that’s left me now!
Tears will unbidden start—
With faltering lip and throbbing brow
I press it to my heart.
For many generations past,
Here is our family tree!
My mother’s hands this Bible clasped,
She, dying, gave it me.Ah, well do I remember those
Whose names these records bear;
Who round the hearth-stone used to close
After the evening prayer,
And speak of what these pages said,
In tones my heart would thrill!
Though they are with the silent dead,
Here are they living still!My father read this holy book
To brothers, sisters dear;
How calm was my poor mother’s look,
Who leaned God’s Word to hear!
Her angel face—I see it yet!
What thronging memories come—
Again that little group is met
Within the halls of home!Thou truest friend man ever knew,
Thy constancy I’ve tried;
When all were false I found thee true,
My counselor and guide.
The mines of earth no treasures give,
That could this volume buy;
In teaching me the way to live,
It taught me how to die.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Psa 119:73] Thou, Who Didst Make And Fashion Me
Thou, who didst make and fashion me,
O make me wise Thy law to learn;
Then they that fear Thee shall be glad
When they my hope in God discern.Thou, Lord, art just in all Thy ways,
And faithful when Thou chastenest me;
I pray Thee, let Thy promised grace
Thy servant’s help and comfort be.Show mercy, Lord, that I may live,
For in Thy law is all my joy;
While those who wrong me are rebuked,
Thy precepts shall my thought employ.Let those that fear Thee turn to me,
Thy truth to them will I proclaim;
Instruct my heart to keep Thy law,
That I may not be put to shame.Play source: Cyberhymnal
