tn Heb “be strong and let your heart[s] be confident.”

tn Or “our lives.” The suffixed form of נֶפֶשׁ (nefesh, “being, life”) is often equivalent to a pronoun in poetic texts.

 tn Or “[source of] help.”

 tn Or “protector.”

tn Heb “let your faithfulness, O Lord, be on us.”

 tn Or “just as.”

 tn Or perhaps “surely.”

tc Heb “his strength, for you I will watch.” “His strength” should be emended to “my strength” (see v. 17). Some also emend אֶשְׁמֹרָה (’eshmorah, “I will watch”) to אֱזַמֵּרָה (’ezammerah, “I will sing praises [to you]”) See v. 17.

tn Or “my elevated place” (see Ps 18:2).

tn Heb “only for God be silent, my soul.” The wording is similar to that of v. 1a. Here an imperatival form, דּוֹמִּי (dommiy, “be silent”), appears instead of the noun דּוּמִיָּה (dumiyyah, “silence”). The psalmist is encouraging himself to maintain his trust in God.

tn Heb “for from him [is] my hope.”

tn Heb “and I add to all your praise.”

tn Heb “All of them.” The pronoun “them” refers not just to the sea creatures mentioned in vv. 25-26, but to all living things (see v. 24). This has been specified in the translation as “all of your creatures” for clarity.

tn Heb “to give their food in its time.”

 tn Heb “his works.”

 tn Heb “his counsel.”
