After the midnight, morning will greet us;
After the sadness, joy will appear;

The blasts of chill December sound
The farewell of the year,

The sun shone out with fairer ray,

The day was dark, and all seemed lost when to the tomb
They bore the form of Christ the crucified.
Loved ones hoped that He would reign—
But their hopes were all in vain,
