• [Psa 22:16] O’erwhelmed In Depths Of Woe

  O’erwhelmed in depths of woe, Upon the tree of scorn, Hangs the Redeemer of mankind, With racking anguish torn. See how the nails those hands And feet so tender rend; See down His face, and neck, and breast His sacred blood descend. Oh, hear that last, loud cry Which pierced His mother’s heart, As into God the Father’s hands He bade His soul depart. Earth hears, and trembling quakes Around that tree of pain; The rocks are rent; the graves are burst; The veil is rent in twain. Shall man alone be mute? Have we no griefs, or fears? Come, old and young, come, all mankind, And bathe those feet in tears. Come, fall before His cross, Who shed for us His blood, Who died, the Victim of pure love, To make us sons of God. Jesu, all praise to Thee, Our Joy and endless Rest; Be Thou our Guide while pilgrims here, Our Crown amid the blest.

• [Psa 68:8] God Saved His People From Distress

  God saved His people from distress And led them through the wilderness; Then mountains trembled in their place, The heav’ns were bowed before His face. With copious showers Thou didst assuage The thirsting of Thy heritage; Thy congregation dwelt secure; Thou, God, art gracious to the poor. With glorious pomp our King and God Has entered into His abode With sacred minstrelsy and song, While maidens with their timbrels throng. Assemble ye before His face, All ye that spring from Israel’s race; Ye chosen tribes with one accord Come ye, and bless your God, the Lord.

  Lift up to God the voice of praise, Whose breath our souls inspired; Loud and more loud the anthem raise, With grateful ardor fired. Lift up to God the voice of praise, Whose tender care sustains Our feeble frame, encompassed round With death’s unnumbered pains. Lift up to God the voice of praise Whose goodness, passing thought, Loads every minute, as it flies, With benefits unsought. Lift up to God the voice of praise From Whom salvation flows; Who sent His Son our souls to save From everlasting woes. Lift up to God the voice of praise, For hope’s transporting ray, Which lights through darkest shades of death To realms of endless day.

• [Psa 90:4] Thou Glorious God, Before Whose Face

  Thou glorious God, before Whose face The generations pass away, As, to our eyes, the tender grace And marvel of each shining day! We thank Thee for the joy sublime Of years so radiant with Thy power That all the best of endless time Seems granted to the fleeting hour. We praise Thee for the surer right, The clearer message from above, The lengthening day, the shortening night, The wiser ministries of love. We bless Thee for the friends we miss, Who made our peace, and stilled our pain; We trust Thee on some height of bliss To bring them close to us again. We magnify Thy holy Name; And while in Thee our hearts rejoice, Strong be our wills, through praise and blame, To do the bidding of Thy voice.
