Psalms 2:3

2:3 They say, 1  “Let’s tear off the shackles they’ve put on us! 2 

Let’s free ourselves from 3  their ropes!”

Psalms 31:22

Context

31:22 I jumped to conclusions and said, 4 

“I am cut off from your presence!” 5 

But you heard my plea for mercy when I cried out to you for help.

Psalms 60:6

Context

60:6 God has spoken in his sanctuary: 6 

“I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem;

the Valley of Succoth I will measure off. 7 

Psalms 88:5

Context

88:5 adrift 8  among the dead,

like corpses lying in the grave,

whom you remember no more,

and who are cut off from your power. 9 

Psalms 108:7

Context

108:7 God has spoken in his sanctuary: 10

Psalms 109:13

Context

109:13 May his descendants 12  be cut off! 13 

May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives! 14 

1 tn The words “they say” are supplied in the translation for clarification. The quotation represents the words of the rebellious kings.

2 tn Heb “their (i.e., the Lord’s and the king’s) shackles.” The kings compare the rule of the Lord and his vice-regent to being imprisoned.

3 tn Heb “throw off from us.”

4 tn Heb “and I, I said in my haste.”

5 tn Heb “from before your eyes.”

6 tn Heb “in his holy place.”

7 sn Shechem stands for the territory west of the Jordan, the Valley of Succoth for the region east of the Jordan.

8 tn Heb “set free.”

9 tn Heb “from your hand.”

10 tn Heb “in his holy place.”

11 sn Shechem stands for the territory west of the Jordan River; the valley of Succoth represents the region east of the Jordan.
