• [Psa 24:3] Christ Of The Upward Way

  Christ of the upward way, my Guide divine, Where Thou hast set Thy feet, may I place mine; And move and march wherever Thou hast trod, Keeping face forward up the hill of God. Give me the heart to hear Thy voice and will, That without fault or fear I may fulfill Thy purpose with a glad and holy zest, Like one who would not bring less than his best. Give me the eye to see each chance to serve, Then send me strength to rise with steady nerve, And leap at once with kind and helpful deed, To the sure succor of a soul in need. Give me the good stout arm to shield the right, And wield Thy sword of truth with all my might, That, in the warfare I must wage for Thee, More than a victor I may ever be. Christ of the upward way, my Guide divine, Where Thou hast set Thy feet, may I place mine; And when Thy last call comes, serene and clear, Calm may my answer be, “Lord, I am here.”

  On joyful wings our raptured souls Would mount and spread their flight, And from Mount Pisgah’s top behold The land of pure delight. Refrain Above the clouds, above the stars, That heav’nly region fair, Where He, our Lord and Savior, dwells, Our home, our home is there. Sweet visions oft His love reveals, Of that divine abode; And with His kind, protecting hand, He leads us on the road. Refrain O blessèd hope that bears us up, And stills each throb of care! The night will pass, the morn will come, And we shall soon be there. Refrain

  Had I the pinions of a dove, How would I fly away, To realms of light and joy and love, In portals of the day! Refrain O give me the wings of a dove, To fly and be at rest, To seek the bliss of Heav’n above Which those who find are blest. Tho’ thru this weary world I tread, At morn, to God my Friend, At noon, and e’er I seek my bed, My prayer shall still ascend.
